First time I saw Billy live I was getting this strange feeling like "eek... is he... is gonna do any error in this song?", but that, man, is long time gone! I am pretty sure songs like "Weekend Sex Change" made it back to setlist thanks to him!
When I saw Dillinger in 2009 everyone in the crowd looked at the new drummer like ??? By the end of the set were all were smiling. This video reminds me how much a new drummer can change something for the good. Kudos!
I cant remember the year, but early 00's, i had no money so i couldn't go to the Dillinger's show opening for SOAD and clawfinger. I was completely hyped with TDEP at the time. I asked my friends how was the show and everyone told me it was rubbish, couldn't understand a word and a beat, waste of time Bla Bla... I was like "dudes, you just Saw the biggest act in the planet and you didn't even know it. Maybe you guys are a waste of time".
Thanks for the upload, Billy. You’re just such an inspiration to all of us drummers. Please upload some more of these videos - this was really amazing to watch!
I hope somebody's watching out for the poor fella now that he doesn't have proper adult supervision... Our beloved little Billy.... It was magic to watch him at the last concerts.. Such a machine!
I have to stop watching this video, but I cant!!! I have to comment every freaking time! It is just so amazing and beautiful! Guh, the dynamics he uses!
billy you are the numero uno in some respects for me. it feels good finally unpacking even the most complex parts of this song and understanding how to play it efficiently on the kit. thank you for everything.
I love that this dude put out a video showing the technique he uses. Mueller method I believe it was. Hits hard and conserves energy. He is pretty damn amazing
it's easy for me to forget how incredibly skilled Dillinger and their contemporaries are - right up until it's happening in front of me. this is absolutely mind blowing and i can't wait for you guys to come through RI again.
@@nayrtnartsipacify yeah bro right up until he drops its at 3:41. i love the build up to it, its all about the contrast and dynamics. he plays the 4/4 really fucking hard
Jesus, as in-fucking-same as Dillinger is, you would think that kit would be three times as huge. Don't get me wrong, I love huge kits with the double bass and ten different cymbals as much as the next guy or gal. More room to expand and add flavor to your sound. But, damn, Billy Rymer shows you right here that you don't need a big kit to go wild. Awesome video, man.
I spent days on end learning this after seeing the Golden Gods footage, such a brilliant track! Hope to meet you at your Manchester (UK) show in a few months!
Wow what a joy to see how it's meant to be played> I'd love to see your take on some earlier stuff, such as 'When good dog's do bad things' or 'the running board'?
I watch this over and over and never played drums in my life.. Helps learning the guitar part all the same.. Is he a child of skynet? Would explain a lot....
amazing. if more of these are coming, i would really dig seeing Understanding Decay.. have been trying to figure out how the hell you play that for months
Or a guy who gets 8 hours worth of drumming packed down into this song 😂 the drums are so busy. That's why I love this music though. One of the few genres where drums can be super busy.
Well, when you play like that.... There is a video of Ben's equipment rundown and the guy seriously has guitars with the wireless built inside so there is no cable or box on his strap and he has a mechanical system that keeps his guitar in tune no matter what. These guys are all utter beasts when it comes to live shows. In-fucking-sane.
Josh Porter Actually upon further inspection I think he plays Silverstars. I just can't imagine Tama being ok with giving him a new Starclassic every month.
GritsNDesu I think its a silverstar bass drum with starclassic toms. In the studio, it's not unheard of to mix and match drums to get the sound you're looking for. Billy also advocated the silverstar line, but live I think he uses a starclassic when he can. ...heaven forbid the singer see him drumming though. He'll wreck his shit on the spot. Cuz fuck drums. I'd be scared.
+Dhieen You wont find any really. TDEP is in a league all their own..sure there's great heavey drummers like Tomas Haake and Blake Richardson, but nothing like this.
+Paul Lizzi The drummer from The Number 12 Looks Like You is fairly insane. The band is well known for their extremely chaotic tempo changes, dynamics, and polyrhythms. There are some videos of him floating around. Very highly skilled. But I suppose any drummer in a Mathcore band will be highly skilled technically as is. Yeah. Chris Penne is God awfully insane. I still listen to Calculating Infinity from 1999 and can't believe what the dude came up with. Just incredible.
It's like he sat down to practice but every half a bar he remembered something extremely annoying his boss at work did to him earlier.
I literally laughed out loud :)
haha you win
I spit out my drink.
I laughed pretty loudly, you win the internet today sir!
Two years late, but that was one of the most beautifully crafted works of poetic fuckery I've ever read. Beautifully done my dude.

I can't even begin to wrap my head around how to keep up with the time signatures and accent marks in this. So good.
Still I come back to this video to show people how awesome you are!!
Ok I think I will stop living in the past and stop wishing Chris Pennie was still in the band. You are fucking good!
Thanks for the upload, Billy. You’re just such an inspiration to all of us drummers. Please upload some more of these videos - this was really amazing to watch!

I am Sooooooooo addicted to this album! Definitely need more of these vids Bill !!!! This stuff is mindblowing!!
this is drumming at its finest.. listen to the intensity and the character and dynamics of his groove. It is fking intense!! new favourite drummer!!
Love to see a drummer who takes the most he can get out a pretty simple kit
Well done. Very inspiring drumming, I love it. Thank you.
Dude! math. So pumped to see this band in Toronto on the 9th
I have to stop watching this video, but I cant!!! I have to comment every freaking time! It is just so amazing and beautiful! Guh, the dynamics he uses!
I find your operation of these musical instruments pleasing.
billy you are the numero uno in some respects for me. it feels good finally unpacking even the most complex parts of this song and understanding how to play it efficiently on the kit. thank you for everything.
what an incredible drummer! seriously this is outstanding.
I love that this dude put out a video showing the technique he uses. Mueller method I believe it was. Hits hard and conserves energy. He is pretty damn amazing
+Pill0wDipsauce it's called the whip technique. You make the same motion as you would if you were cracking a minute
it's easy for me to forget how incredibly skilled Dillinger and their contemporaries are - right up until it's happening in front of me.
this is absolutely mind blowing and i can't wait for you guys to come through RI again.
This answers so many questions I had as a drummer. Amazing. Thanks for the upload!
Clear, precise, powerful, violent : perfect math core drumming.
Billy is the man
Its all jazz too. Like jazz off the meds
@@nayrtnartsipacify yeah bro right up until he drops its at 3:41. i love the build up to it, its all about the contrast and dynamics. he plays the 4/4 really fucking hard
This guy is my favourite metel drummer I could watch him all day playing do good

Aahhh.......jazzy spaz drumming at it's best👌👍😃!
Spazzy Jazz?
You're incredible Billy. I adore your style so much!
I dont even play the drums and I loved this. So good. I love TDEP.
Outstanding job. Love this song. You`re awesome
What the hell did I just watch? And why do I suddenly want to play drums so badly?
Crisp drumming, man.
Jesus, as in-fucking-same as Dillinger is, you would think that kit would be three times as huge. What kills me is the ghost notes -- makes an already intense song simply bonkers.
Perfect example of a guy who has mastery over a small kit and is able to make it sound huge without needing extra bells and whistles.
Insanely talented.
Pure madness at its best
You, sir, are a god damn powerhouse.
omg i could watch this video the whole day!
billy rules
Amazing player / musician! \m/
i cant stop watching
Fantastic. I'd love to see more play-through videos of full DEP songs like this, please!
So human, yet robotic. Dude is a replicant.
Billy, you are amazing!
1:55 is the sickness.
AAAAHHH! killer song and playing. It's so cool to see this from the real guy (I really wish Ben would do videos like this)!
I spent days on end learning this after seeing the Golden Gods footage, such a brilliant track! Hope to meet you at your Manchester (UK) show in a few months!
Amazing, please post more of these!
Wow what a joy to see how it's meant to be played> I'd love to see your take on some earlier stuff, such as 'When good dog's do bad things' or 'the running board'?
China! I want that China! Like, yesterday! RC sounds nice too!

Al M. I second this

Enjoyed seeing you play in Chico a few weeks back. Would love to see some more of you demonstrating DEP songs, good stuff!
that show was epic
Omg, I thought for so long the actual title of the song was "When I lost my pet"..
Might as well be.
And he is very upset about it
I thought it was "belt" lol
2:33 is the coolest fill ever
Mesmerizing.........
More please!
I watch this over and over and never played drums in my life.. Helps learning the guitar part all the same.. Is he a child of skynet? Would explain a lot....
amazing. if more of these are coming, i would really dig seeing Understanding Decay.. have been trying to figure out how the hell you play that for months
Gonna be Manchester and Leeds i think for me, ordered Leeds ticket, yet to order Manchester, gotta take advantage of them being here!
Please, please do more play throughs. I beg you.
I enjoy this very much
This is maybe the only band with songs in which I can't remember any guitar or drum parts at all lol
Listen to Fantômas
Car Bomb
The only Dillinger I know so far on drums and guitar is the chorus of “Happiness Is Just A Smile” haha
Such a beast. And quite the ham I might add :)
Sucks I didn't get to meet you last night, but you guys sure kicked ass!
Billy would never know if he had arrhythmia…
If you make more of these I'm definitely subscribing!!
Holy. Shit.
Mind blown.
Awesome!
so tight!
Great right leg technique and stamina...I don't understand drumming as drummer would as I'm a mere guitarist haha but damn he's good.
This is pretty great. Solid shit fam.
Awesome...just awesome :D
SO much jazz influence :P
not really thats just straight time signature work
There is a lot of jazz influence and to the other guy, just cuz it doesnt swing doesnt mean there isnt any jazz influence, Billy is a great jazz cat
Now I want to know how did you broke the Kick hoop that lies on the floor.
Great drumming. You are fantastic.
still cool man. s this in the old dillinger rehearshal room ??
Why am I having such a hard time learning this? Is it me?!
Amazing!!
Dude this is fucking sick!!
such an interesting song
Your right foot man, holy shit!
You are the man.
This guy looks like a drummer who drums 8 hrs a day
Or a guy who gets 8 hours worth of drumming packed down into this song 😂 the drums are so busy. That's why I love this music though. One of the few genres where drums can be super busy.
Love it.
You're a fucking beast at the drums! Love your style of drumming!
I love how every piece of his kit doesn't match because they get fucking wrecked live. I wish Tama just threw Starclassics at me haha.
Well, when you play like that.... There is a video of Ben's equipment rundown and the guy seriously has guitars with the wireless built inside so there is no cable or box on his strap and he has a mechanical system that keeps his guitar in tune no matter what. I love that he's playin with the guitar track only.
Billy Rymer starts his own RUclips channel? Subscribed.
I consider myself floored.
brutal!!!
Yes! Is he using the Samson drum mic kit?
tiiiiiggggghhhhhttttt!!!!!
Kicks so much ass!
This is so incredible, it’s stupid
What cymbals are you using for this video? Sick playthrough. Really enjoyed your Graspop preformance!
I'd like to listen to other drummers who play this kind of music ... this song is so heavy
+Dhieen You wont find any really. TDEP is in a league all their own..sure there's great heavey drummers like Tomas Haake and Blake Richardson, but nothing like this.
