If you tell your kids you're going to pay them for doing something, and the kid does it, then out of integrity and justice the parent should pay. There's nothing wrong with a child reminding. If a parent wants the kid to help without payment, that's fine, too, but don't agree to pay and then accuse the kid of being ill-raised when kid wants you to follow through.
Thank you for your review. My kids have been saving their own money from various jobs and money from grandparents and friends. We just wanted a place to keep it where they could have access to it and a card of their own. I think this might be good to use for kids who do odd jobs, but they get paid in cash. They can pay the fee.
Thank you so much for the informative video! I was looking into ordering this card for my niece and you definitely answered all of my questions & concerns. Ordering now 😄💳
I’m not thrilled about the $5 each month but at the same time it’s a small cost to be able to give them real time experience with money. Poor money management can ruin their lives in the long run so what’s $5 a month really lol
@Danielle McNamee Rethink what "money" truly is these days. We have NONE. The Powers That Be have driven us, our kids, their kids and probably their kid's kid's into Abject Debt Slavery, with the farcical "TRILLIONS" that THEY just created out of Thin Air It truly is frightening.
Make them pay for it. If they’re ready to have a card shouldn’t they be able to. But if they’re gonna pay for it, I’d say you should let them pick between some cards.
3:18 "Forget you, I'm turning your card off." I'm cracking up. I would use those EXACT words. And, I have a son named Sawyer. So, clearly, you are super cool, because we have at least 2 things in common.
Im getting one soon and my parents are going to add a certain amount each week for my allowence and if i do more chores is more money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ordered two (one for each of my daughters). I’m getting charged $9.98/month ($4.99/month for each). Your video says you get up to five kids all for one $4.99/month fee. Did their fee structure change after this video was made?
The review was good, but I was wondering if others such as grandparents can add money to these accounts like for chores or birthdays? That was not answered. Looks like just parents can add money. I don't need to know anything else about the account, but would like to be able to safely add money to encourage them to help out when I ask.
i know its a small fee per month, but im cheap and would rather use that $5 a month for something to actually use or whatever, my son is 9 and my bank doesnt charge any fees for checking, so since i couldnt get his name on the card i put mine and then got them to write spending account that way i knew which was his, and then online i can just add money whenever or if he earns cash we can take it to the bank, i am a visual leaner and i also think its important to show kids you do this and you earn this, it may be old fashioned but theres just something about accomplishing a task and then visually seeing the cash you earn in hand. You cant get that really from just adding the money to your account, and get them to pay with cash too at the store sometimes, i am amazed at the technology these days, at the same time i would be happy just living the simple old school life lol, God Bless everyone and may this year be full of goodness for all :)
hey idk if anyone knows this but please answer if you do! can you sell things on any platform and connect your green light bank account on that? or can you only receive money from a guardian or parent?
Looks like a pretty useful tool. However, I'm concerned it might send the wrong message to our kids. You can't save your way to wealth. Trading your time for money. Chores should be part of helping the family and turning it into a cash reward system just mirrors that of being an employee. I see the utility in GL and its well-meaning intentions, notwithstanding paying a monthly fee, but they can set the wrong precedence if we want to truly teach financial wealth-creating to our kids. My opinion of course. Thank You for the video. Cheers!!
Hi I have one of these and I contacted Greenlight but I wanted to know if your kids is Greenlight broken right now? If I buy something for a game I will get what i bought in the game but it would take 3-4 days for me to get charged for it
Is there anything that you don’t particularly love about the card? The pros sound great, I would just also like some honest feedback if there’s something maybe annoying or that you wish they might fix.
once u download the app and the parent signs up for everything and the account is ready is the card automatically sent to you over 10 business days or do u personally have to order it?
How does the card work with online transactions? Are there any safeguards against someone charging the card online without their consent (similar to the pin needed to make a physical transaction). Also, I'm assuming the debit card declines any transactions that are higher than the funds available on the account right?? Regardless of whether it's online or physically.
To the last question yes for this card but if it was a real one like the ones adults use then they would charge you a 5 dollar overdraft and for online if the item is over 100 bucks then they will send you an alert usually to make sure you are trying to buy that and it’s not someone else
I think this is great! I just did the same with my daughter shes now 14 but through a diffrent app. I think its great to teach children finances and the value of a dollar.
