Awesome KDA《☆》As a Gibson Firebird VII fan I happen to know that Allen played the studio version of Freebird on his Gibson Firebird V. It's appropriate that your Jackson has the reverse head like a Firebird🤓👍🏾 I met AC the year before the plane crash in 77. He seemed like a pretty decent guy & already one of my guitar heros by that time. He popped in on a little party that me & a motorcycle buddy got invited to. Allen was just checking in on this lady who was one of the backup singers in Skynyrd. She was changing clothes & I heard a knock on the door. So I answered the door & it was Allen Collins. I knew immediately who it was. He said hey man is Jojo here ? I said yeah she's changing clothes. He saw I was just a kid about 16yr old. He said cool, shook my hand & left in his jacked up CJ5 Jeep. He must have seen our bikes parked in the driveway & looked in like an older brother would. Apparently Jojo was a bit of a cougar. We saw her in her white Caddy convertible with the top down. We didn't have any idea who she was but she said hey Hey Yall wanna party so we followed her to her house. Turns out we were the only ones invited😎 Hey if you get a chance I'd love to see you do some stuff from Second Helping. Ed King was my favorite guitarist from Skynyrd but they're all pretty good. Steve Gains Took Eds place & quickly became a standout :*: Greetings from⛾Florida🤳Brother🤓🗣🔊☮✌👍🏾

This is one of my favorite solos. I was in the Army in 2010 stationed at an airbase in El Paso. I'm driving back to base listening to this song around sundown. As I pass near one of the runways the part of this solo at 3:26 drops just an F-18E Superhornet blasts ass in front of my car on departure. It was surreal and it cemented this solo in my memory. Badass dude...you nailed it, and brought back some memories.

Before knowing exactly what Collins played this on, I just assumed that it was a Les Paul. I was going to borrow my friends Les Paul for it and then I watched a few live videos of Collins playing it. He pretty much exclusively used a Gibson Explorer. I figured that that was kind of a shredder guitar of the seventies so I decided to use my own shredder guitar. Plus I'm very comfortable on that Jackson. She's my favorite.

Amazing work, amazing song. That Freebird solo always stops me in my tracks and makes me wait until it's finished no matter what.
My suggestion for an underrated solo which probably won't get much agreement is Slash's snakepit and the solo from Be the Ball. It's not long, and not terribly complicated but it's full of emotion and another one that I can never stop half way through.
Cheers and keep up the great work!

As a suggestion for your next project, I am a huge Mark Knopfler fan. Everyone has their inspiration for learning guitar, and Knopfler is mine. Sultans gets all the attention, but one of my favourites of his is from a song off of his Goldenheart album called 'Don't You Get It'. It is everything a Knopfler solo should be; it's smooth, melodic, and has a tone you could butter toast with.

What a face melter. You rocked it. My friend and I would always argue which solo was better - Blue Sky or Freebird. He didnt like how repetative Freebird is. I always enjoyed Blur Sky, but the intensity of Freebird just rocks. There's a live version of Freebird being played in Oakland before the plane crash and watching the crowd is pretty entertaining. They look so mind blown during the solo.
As for your next project, I said it before, Bold As Love has a great solo that Jimi never played live for some reason. It's a fantastic end to his 2nd album. Ice Cream Man by Van Halen is always fun too.

I'll limit myself to three recommendations: "Lonely is the Word" (Black Sabbath), "Walk On Hot Coals" (Rory Gallagher), and "Let There Be Rock" (AC/DC). I'd love to see John Frusciante represented as well, although that might be tough because his live solos are where he really shines. Can't wait to see how it turns out! As a Pink Floyd fan I think that the solo to Fat Old Sun is underrated, but Gilmour already gets a lot of praise for his work in the 70's. I also like Regret #9 done by Guthrie Govan, really incredible, and more modern that some on the current list, probably because of release date.

Hi there! This is the first vid I've watched of yours (through the post on r/guitar), and I absolutely loved it, especially the little background story. Definitely subscribed to see what's next!
I've got two suggestions for your next project, even though I'm not 100% sure they completely fit the criteria. I am a 22yo beginning guitar player slowly trying to catch up on all the great music from older times, so my perception of what is considered underrated/hidden might be slightly off lol.
    1. Sketch for Summer (Durutti Column) - Something about this song makes me feel all types of ways, it's light-hearted at times but full of melancholy at other sequences. To me, it gives off a kind of psychedelic vibe of both simplicity and intricate patterns, and I absolutely love it to bits.
    2. Cortez the Killer (Neil Young) - One of my favorite Neil Young songs. With this one, even though there is quite some vocal parts, I feel like the guitar does most of the storytelling. Whenever the singing comes back in, I feel like it is paving the way for the next guitar solo, rather than taking the main spotlight in the song.
I know these probably won't get featured but even if only one person decides to listen to them I'm a happy man :D
Ps. If anyone knows songs in the same slow-ish, psychedelic, ethereal style, please let me know!

Dreams by The Allman Brothers Live at The Filmore East is not talked about enough. Awesome work! Always wondered why this is in the Top 10 on any list...while it's effective, memorable, intense and fun to play, it's not really breaking any new ground or showcasing top class technique. Anyway...we musicians shall always be nostalgic :) In my list of underrated solos that don't often get the love they deserve.... Black Betty (long version), My Sharona (long version), Get The Funk Out, Oh Pretty Woman (Gary Moore's parts), The Bash (Dixie Dreggs with Steve Morse). Love to know what your view is on these! And I can add a bunch of lovely, beautiful and memorable Brian May solos to this list. Anyway, enjoying your channel tremendously! keep it up!

Really enjoyed following you on your journey, always think an underrated solo is Pali Gap. Never gets mentioned by anyone, mind you the solo is the whole song.

For your upcoming top 50 underrated solos project I nominate Cry for You by Andy Timmons. It's hardly an unknown track among guitarists, but that's about the extent of its exposure. I feel it's one of the best balances of incredible technique & expressive playing I've come across. Nice variety and usage of tones too. Might be a tall order learning it all, but perhaps that's what you're looking for too.

If you are not limiting this to rock solos, check out Marillion. Steven Rothery has tons of feeling in his solos. Not a shredder by any means. One song in particular to check out is Easter. It's one of Marillion's classics and the solo is outstanding. Give it a listen if you have not heard it.

    Love the idea!
I suggest the solo of Pendulous Skin from Mastodon. It's possibly Brent Hinds best solo, and it's certainly one that's most indicative of his style. No one else sounds like him in my opinion.

      Vista Chino - Carnation
      Santana - Taboo, Toussaint L'Overture

I find I always like the commentary, I usually totally agree with most of your thoughts. Like so many of these songs I've heard them so many times that the impact isn't what it used to be. If you are looking for an underrated solo, try the outro solo from "Ease" by PIL. I think it may be steve vai playing it as a session gig not sure, Johnny lydon had a few different players on the album. I always have to stop and listen to it when I hear the song.
