Long Beach Halibut Fishing, Ballast Point, Marina del Rey almost legal spotty

- Started the day fishing 72nd Pier right by Ballast Point Brewery. Caught a few halibut, one was an inch short. Afterwards, we went to Marina Del Rey to catch some bay bass. We caught about 7 bay bass in 2 hrs before the boat traffic got too much to handle.

I just started fishing about 5 months ago I started at that Creek for 2 months until I discovered fresh water but I love going to that spot that's actually my number one spot yeah I should let me know when you're there I'll be good too catch a session

Yea, we could have caught more but we were trying to find spotty at LB so we left the Hali bite!

What rod and reel are you using?
Duff/Ben: megabass Destroyer p5 X-Bites w a jdm shimano stile
Ovi: 7’2 Daiwa rebellion w a daiwa costal
Tata: 8’ st croix rod w a daiwa fuego 400
Forgot, also Ben the first Hali was on the 8’3 daiwa saltist westcoast, it’s perfect for saltwater jerk baits. And ovi on the sand bass in MDR was a 8’2 Phenix M1 inshore rod M power

@@pdxigel yes & no. If you like the jdm styling and you want a lighter more sensitive rod, and you have $500 to spare then yea. But if you want the best rod performance it’ll be a G-loomis only thing is that they’re ugly rods lol
