Taiwan earthquake: About 600 people stranded at hotel in Taroko National Park

- A day on from Taiwan's 7.2-magnitude earthquake, the death toll has risen to 10, with the latest victim found on a hiking trail. 38 people remain missing or uncontactable. The island's eastern region has been shaken by hundreds of aftershocks since the quake. Dozens of missing vacationers and workers from Taroko National Park have been brought to a temporary medical station after being rescued. About 600 people remain stranded at a hotel in the same park, but are safe. Victoria Jen reports live from Hualien.

I stayed at that hotel several years ago. It's a beautiful park. Hope everyone comes out of there safely and in good health.
Feel so sad for the teacher & her cat. Most cat lovers will do the same as her even though it is very risky. We cannot live with ourselves if we didn’t go all out to save the cat.

There were 51,711 houses that collapsed in the 921 earthquake. The number of houses that collapsed this time was 4. Everyone has learned a lesson.

earthquake in taiwan are very common, i experience several in my visits. the good news is taiwan earthquake is usually in the mountain, away from the population centers, Taiwan's cores are usually left unharmed. however the tourist area are usually hit badly...

It's not good when both die.

I don’t have good impression with Taiwanese ppl as Chinese, I remember I joined a English group class on a certain platform , in that class I had some classmates who from Taiwan, it’s my very first time to catch up with Taiwanese, I didn’t say anything about politics but my classmates saying politics all the time to me, so annoying as a result I quit that class sadly , I can’t tolerate that vibes.

You prolly have no idea how your government and those so called little pinks bullied Taiwan from time to time. For the past few decades, every time, when Taiwanese need international helps because of the earthquakes or pandemic diseases, those helps from other countries were always stopped by your government. Your government has never stopped flying missiles, fighter jets around Taiwan to intimidate Taiwanese. Your CCP government had never stopped trying to invade Taiwan. What will you think about your neighbors, if they claim your house is theirs and will never stop robbing you until they own your house?

Here in the US they always make it sound like there is tension between China and Taiwan. I wouldn't worry about it. In the US .. they seem to want us to all hate Russians.. but I don't. That's ridiculous. I'm sure you just got stuck with some annoying people, but there are other people from Taiwan that aren't like them, that you would get along with. Take the class again. :)
