  • Today I'm traveling with my Geo Pro Travel Trailer in my Chevy Colorado. I have full hookups at the site I am leaving. I am heading to Seminole Canyon State Park in Texas. I was able to book a site with electricity and water, but I have to relocate to a primitive camping site over the holiday weekend. I have found a few stores in Texas to support the nomadic lifestyle. Come along for the ride as I shop for food, supplies, and find a spot to fill my RV propane tanks.

Did you ever track down the Jaguarundi?

Hey, Kevin. That's funny because I would drive by the spot where I saw it, half expecting to see it again. But, no. There is no sign of it.

That's a true story, sp192x! I would like to make that a priority, but it's not obvious to me when and where I should do it. I'm juggling so many things. One day, the excuses will cease!

Hey Mario! Another good video! I knew early on you were gonna run yourself outta time. Haha! Hopefully you’re somewhere close to a Home Depot now! Cheers! Until next time!

Hi, Jacob. I had lofty goals, to be sure! The Home Depot was a two hour round trip from where I am now. I ordered a store pickup item to help soften the blow, though. Take care!

It's fun to travel in full time. I'm doing just short trips but often. Thanks for sharing 👍

Hey there, Thomas! It's strange you mention that. One thing I did not mention in the video is how I felt at the beginning of the trip and after spending 3 weeks at one campsite. I knew I had work and a long day ahead of me, but I was happy to get on the road and see new things. They say the journey is part of the adventure!

Thanks for the info about the propane. I have a lot to learn before I hit the road full time.

Hello, Nancy. Glad to hear you found some useful information in the video. Full time is a different world that is hard to prepare for. I might suggest taking smaller trips before fully committing to full time.

Carl, the beer connoisseur. How goes it? I suspect you are aware the one I bought was not their fancy pants version. One bottle of that is a meal by itself!

Glad to hear your Geo Pro is on the way! Before I left California, my entire living room was projects. I ended up renting a 10X12 storage unit just to keep things in order. So I know what you mean.

How's the truck been on towing?
I have a v6 and was curious on the capabilities and economy? One more question how many miles do you have on the truck, just curious??

Hey there, Krzy Slo4x4! How goes it? Before any mods to the truck, I drove out to Ohio pulling the trailer. Well, I did suspension mods. Anyway, I got 12.7 MPG over 4,000 miles, including little day excursions without the trailer. The point is, I was pretty much maxed out on weight capacity, and I did not have any issues over some major passes, including heading east past Flagstaff. In short, totally happy with this V6 version/family. It is a high revving engine and will use a lot of gas when revving it. As sp192x commented, I could probably use some regearing. Even in stock form, the "truck" is not set up for dedicated max cargo. Motor works great. Edit: 20,000 miles. Even caught a screen shot of the odometer in this video!

@@MarioWorkedOnIt Any new data with the upgrades? Looks like you might have put on at least 800lbs in gear. I have a Zr2 and I already see numbers like 19mpgs all the time. I'm sure you had a change in mpg with lift and tires.

    • @MarioWorkedOnIt
      @MarioWorkedOnIt  2 года назад +1

@Krzy Slo4x4 what engine do you have? I never saw 19 mpg unless I was steady down the highway driving home from the dealership. Did you regear? But yeah, I have all the axles maxed out right now. I purged some weight in Ohio but added it back (plus about 600lbs) with the mods. The best current data I have is in this video, using the trucks "Fuel Economy Mode" in the infosystem. I'm guessing the tire mods and the poor aerodynamics caused me to lose about 1 mpg while towing. But the wind can turn that data upside down.

I have the V6 like you. She's been good on gas. Three things I do to get better economy, Use premium 91 octane, change my oil at 4K intervals and air up my tires 2 psi over recommend. So my tires are at 37psi cold. I'm extremely easy on the throttle, i know this is almost impossible while towing. My truck has 42,000 miles. I have replaced my air filter already. The best I have seen is 21 mpg. Only thing I have done is tune, stock gears. I just service the power train my self. Front, rear diff and transfer case.

Thanks for the info, Krzy Slo4x4. It's always the details that matter. When my truck was stock, I drove it like a car (or maybe sports car). A typical combined city and highway for me was 17 mpg.
