The granularity of choice here is great! There are some things I really like about the Win11 UX, but also some that drive me nuts -- as you said, 2 or 3 clicks to get to where 1 click used to be enough. Thanks for the heads up.
Another key missing feature is extra large file view with folder previews. Thanks for sharing these insights. What a step backwards. The must have fired all the UX guys that worked on Windows 10 because there is just no excuse for these functionality losses.
One other nice thing ExplorerPatcher is it makes my taskbar clock work again. I used T-Clock to replace the clock, and before EPatcher, it wouldn't work. Plus all the other setting it has is very nice. I very much doubt the author of T-Clock will ever fix it, for Windows 11.
I use the application Startallback in Windows 11. Absolutely love it. It fixes all the my annoyances with the Windows 11 interface. It's a paid app, but very inexpensive and worth it to me.
Thought I was going to go nuts after seeing the taskbar missing toolbars that I made in Windows 10. EP seems better than Stardock's Start11. But I could not get it to work on a fresh Windows 11 install as it just broke everything. But it worked correctly if I updated from a Windows 10 installation to Windows 11. Weird. Maybe the latest version breaks EP.
My biggest hangup with not going to Windows 10/11 comes from my exposure to Tiling windows managers in linux. Multiple desktops per monitor..... You just cannot come back from that.... "Actual Virtual Desktop" is going in the right direction, but is not there
Thanks for the very useful tips. As you said in the video, Windows 11 has a better backend than Windows 10. It feels snappier and executes applications quicker. However, the changes in the frontend might not be for everyone, and your tips help to fix these issues. I am sticking with Windows 11 only after applying your tips.
Well I did the reverse, I installed Start11 on Windows 10 and it works really well. Centered taskbar, Win11 start menu (with recommendations disabled) but with the base of Windows 10.
I can see a "Pinned" title for those application in the new Start menu. That's not a bad idea to have some there, because I don't want to use a taskbar space to pin them there if I need Calendar once per month for example. For the rest applications I propose to use a "spotlight" shortcut to type in. And think about a fact, that in case you will have multiple identical browser icons on a taskbar, you will need to check all of them to find something specific. The same s...t like with stacked icons. I mean it ) A context menu without 7-zip is a really sad thing.
Explorer Patcher will no longer open, I used to right click on the task bar and then onto properties now the task bar goes blank for a short time and there is no list with the properties option, so I cant use Explorer Patcher any more. It is still giving me the Windows 10 task bar and I am happy about that but I have nothing else from it that I can use.
ctrl + shift + escape will get the task menu up ... and how is it you can remember how to remote into something but are unable to remember what icons mean especially when you "regularly use" the context menu?
yo bro can you add the search box instead of the search icon? i also think i have a bug where all of my icons shift over when they are supposed to be shifted to the left. please help.
I like how we still can't get tabs in Windows File Explorer. I've been using the 3rd party Files app for a while now, but many of its features should just be native imo.
While I have to agree, most of the world, at least at the consumer level, uses Windows. Once Linux has finally managed to do everything that Windows does at least as easily as the average person is concerned, that may change.
If Linux is such a winner, why does it still suck so much at VR and having a clear standard for package management that works without ever having hiccups or the necessity still to be forced to use the term sometimes?
OT Question. You talked about remoting into a computer daily. I searched you videos and none covering this topic. What remote service do you use and have you done a review of any free but quality remote options? I used to use team viewer but then was told by some tech support agents that it is dangerous to use so i stopped. Thanks
Imagine having to fix Microsoft's OS before it's usable. I only just stopped hating 10 after Microsoft hit their development high water mark by creating Windows 7.
it works like a charm. I am however getting mandatory text next to every folder and icon when it is open and it is maddening that I cant get it to turn off. the turn on off badges options in taskbar settings is greyed out. any ideas? what am I missing here?
I have some important things to do for the next couple of days. After that I am returning back to windows 10. I cannot waste my life to test fantasies of some tasteless idiot designer or engineer at Microsoft. How can they go backwards and make a much less efficient OS? It is insane.
I hate how Microsoft seems to be trying to emulate MacOS. Thank you for the link to this program.
i 100% agree, wasn't a fan of the center start menu or trying to be a "dock"
ikr?, like if i want a mac style os then i get a damn mac os not windows
LIFE SAVER - The video really starts at 5:30-6:30 BUT OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS WAS SO ANNOYING. If I wanted Mac I'd buy a Mac.

Chris Titus has a ton of tools to clean up/un-suck Win11

Thank you. I really dislike Microsoft changing the taskbar constantly.
Thank you, you saved my Win11 experience!

One of the tools that might come in handy indeed once I have to switch to Windows 11 with my gaming rig after Windows 10 is EoL.
My way to make windows 11 better was to uninstall windows and install linux.

The right click context menu and file explorer ribbon bar are what pushed me to switch over to Linux Mint.
this was very helpful video, Don. I hate the exact same changes you mentioned. great content.

Excellent video! Just what I was looking for. This context menu thing was driving me nuts! Thanks a ton man! Keep up the great work! 👍🏽
Just what I was looking for. Installed and love it! Thank you so much for this video!

I miss moving my taskbar and the desktop icons following the taskbar, does this fix that? I hate that I can't do that on 11
how do i fix the buttons from shifting to the right a bit when i move them?

novaspirit when is the geekom hackintosh tutorial video coming up? cant wait for that one

omg you rock and thank you for your help. this program is da bomb

We live in a time where windows 10 is better than something.
😂
Is there a way to keep the start button in the center.. I use a 43 inch TV as my screen
Please tell me how to fix a bug, my laptop 3 finger gesture not working after updating my laptop explorer patcher.😢
What network security do you use to access your Home Win PC over the Internet? Wireguard, tailscail, OpenVPN, anyconnect, custom? 2 factor?
I actually never open task manager in a different way than "ctrl+shift+esc"
how do you revert it back to windows 11 taskbar?
I like how we still can't get tabs in Windows File Explorer. I've been using the 3rd party Files app for a while now, but many of its features should just be native imo.
Tabs are fine for a web browser, but of no use to me in a file browser.
sorry Don, you cant make windows not suck. only Linux is a sure winner :)
While I have to agree, most of the world, at least at the consumer level, uses Windows. Once Linux has finally managed to do everything that Windows does at least as easily as the average person is concerned, that may change.
isn't it funny how i am using my base system is linux, but i'm remoting in to windows
If Linux is such a winner, why does it still suck so much at VR and having a clear standard for package management that works without ever having hiccups or the necessity still to be forced to use the term sometimes?
i downloaded explorer patcher and it had issues and i had to fix it
I don't know if IT will let me download and install this. Thats my only problem.
I will wait until Microsoft will regain his mind until the developers start to think that we do need the options they removed
Ctrl + Shift + Esc = Task Manger
In my days, that was CTRL + ALT + DEL.

i mainly use RDP for windows to windows, but for remote i also have a video for rustdesk
@@NovaspiritTech thank you
What are you using to remote in?
Thank you!
Drag and drop Issue any fix on that ???

i hate windows 11. why do they make the product worse?
Found it
