Inaccurate, the protagonist would’ve clearly power up like a raging god while having flashbacks of how his friends that he just met made in stronger and kill the villain offscreen.
He doesn't need to power up like a raging god, he just needs to pick up his deceased new best friend's sword of ice and unleash an absurd ice/dark combo attack.

I just started getting into anime and this has me crying lol
I expected the frame to cut to the bad guy jumping infront of him to block the attack, and then giving a heartfelt speech about, how much respect he garnered for the main character over the years trying to kill him, and how after everything they’ve been through together, he now considers him, his best friend.
plot twist: he probably slashed himself as well
The villan should have thrown himself into his own attack to save the protagonist.
