FILM DESCRIPTION:
When timid bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss (Jim Carrey) discovers a magical mask containing the spirit of the Norse god Loki, his entire life changes. While wearing the mask, Ipkiss becomes a supernatural playboy exuding charm and confidence which allows him to catch the eye of local nightclub singer Tina Carlyle (Cameron Diaz). Unfortunately, under the mask's influence, Ipkiss also robs a bank, which angers junior crime lord Dorian Tyrell (Peter Greene), whose goons get blamed for the heist.

Fun fact: that iconic line, "smokin!!!" Was improv. The original line was supposed to be "snazzy" , and Carrey just did his own thing.

Stanley might be a human being, but when he’s wearing the titular mask, he’s imbued with the powers of a trickster night god who can warp reality, shapeshift, has super speed, enhanced durability and strength, high intelligence even at the loss of sanity, and pretty much his abilities are all based off cartoon logic which means he can hurt people or interact with them like how cartoons do it and have Hammerspace (pull stuff from out of nowhere).

The oversized teeth on the Mask character were originally to be used only during silent scenes. However, Jim Carrey learned to talk with them on to make his character that much more wacky
My dad and I will quote this to each other sometimes haha. This is one of the best movies he ever showed me, it's a classic. When my son's old enough, this is on the watch list

There's still a more prominent touch of horror in his screams as the mask takes hold, to me as a kid i had no idea which direction this movie was going with that. I was almost expecting a cartoony serial killer flick.

This movie would’ve never worked without Jim Carrie and the sequel proves that. My favorite thing about this scene is his displeasure in missing the clock on his first swing at 1:45. It gets me every time.

No one -- _no one_ -- could have played The Mask any better than 1994 Jim Carrey did. He would go on to star in other successful comedy films but The Mask was where his insane absurdist humor and physical comedy peaked.
