Landy Honors Tayal Culture Through Music | Woman Island

Superstar Landy Wen grew up as a young Tayal girl deep in the mountains of Taiwan. Mothers, sisters, aunts, and grandmothers used to sing “The Working Song” to celebrate a full day’s work. Landy now sings these childhood folksongs and lullabies as a way to connect with her Indigenous roots.
Landy returns to her village in the first episode of Woman Island. An intimate visit with her family and friends will help to prepare for an upcoming journey to Indonesia. She’ll be collaborating with Septina, a Papuan musician, who is equally proud of her heritage. The two find friendship in embracing their identities as both Indigenous women and accomplished musicians.
