Just discovered your channel recently and had no idea what you had gone through. Watching this series was like a kick in the gut. Sorry you lost your catamaran. ;( Now appreciate all your jokes, fun spirit and salty sailing videos even more. Way to brush off your knees and keep going ...very insipiring, indeed.

Your a stud for even just showing what happens. Most people would have abruptly ended the vlog in embarrassment and made up a bullshite story. Good on ya for showing us the truth with out a sugar coating and trying to salvage long reef. I have no doubt that in time there will be a Long Reef II, perhaps hand built!

I hit a submerged object while in the middle of the channel but fortunately my boat had a swing keel so I steered to the beach and "sank" in nice shallow water. No crocs LOL so I managed to do some emergency repairs and made it home the next day.

I know the area in the Kimberlies very well, I have sailed it extensively, I also sailed a catamaran onto Darwin some 20 years ago.
The charts are simply not accurate, daytime sailing is the only option with extensive use of the depth sounder, an additional problem is overfalls which look like reef, but you find deep water.
The tides are horrendous your sailing is always dictated by them, I remember distinctly sailing towards a lovely bay about a mile away only to be pushed back by the tide.
The Kimberlies are one of the very last wilderness sailing area's with some amazing places to visit, however it is wild and dangerous with Crocs and Sharks are an ever present danger.
BTW if I still lived in Darwin I would have assisted you, however I now live in Europe.
Bad luck and I wish you all the best, I'm sure you will be back on the water soon.

Ive never donated or patrioned, but Ill also give $25 for the shear inspiration and role model you have been. And to keep filming for the entertainment of your small and disturbed following while you lose your home. Above and beyond the call of duty for sure.
You both should be so proud.
Im sure you will bounce back with evengence!
    Looking forward to it!

Peter, I echo all the positive comments below. You're a fine sailor, one of the best under fire, and thank you for posting all of this video. It was probably more difficult to relive the thing, than the thing itself. I think now you just need a solid plan, with a goal, and we will contribute!

Thanks for your support and kind words but I am not a fine sailor at all. Mistakes were made and due to that I put someone else in danger. That in itself, i ought to have the book thrown at me

Nope. Sorry, she's fine, and was never in significant danger. You saw to that man. A few well intended comments here about refloating by sacrificing the dingy, sealing up holes, bailing out, and even commandeering the Zodiac. But it was only you, those things were never any guarantee. You chose survival by conserving water, food, fuel, and energy. I see that now. No way you could have sailed that thing anywhere without risk of hitting more reef, or running into weather. Nope, I would sail with you man. Well done.

sorry for Longreef mate; to step off looked so hard. my advice to you is you can't change what has happened, only learn from it, and don't waste too much time looking back, just look forward. Thanks for sharing your journey so far; I've learnt some yacht smarts from you and had a few laughs along the way; "that's some good looking sand"' classic!

Good luck and thanks for sharing. Amazing safe thought process after this happened. Why would anyone give a thumbs down on this vid...Seriously if you did may need to rethink your life. We are here to help each other as sailors and learn.
