Summary:
1. Startup companies usually gain much less than existing mature companies
2. Investing in mature companies after many years of IPO can also gain a lot
3. There is no way to know in the beginning which startup company will become a giant.

I had bought FICO at avg price of $412. Just sold some since it has shot up and being overvalued Left just house money for it to ride. Allocating funds from the sale to other undervalued, out of fashion but great companies. Overall all 3 portfolios are up between 35% - 50% YTD for 2023.

This guy knows what he is talking about! It's not wise to invest when youtube guru says 10X from here usually it does the opposite! IPO STOCK IS THE WORST stock to invest in.
David versus Goliath is akin to never bet against FED. All bull and bear markets were engineered by FED and will be in the future as long as US markets and US dollars dominate the world.

You can give good advice, but many people won't take it, you wanna know why? Because people are inpatient, weak minded and have a gambler mentality. They want to make a lot with little effort and money, and that should happen extremely quickly. You do the opposite, and you'll become a very successful person. My 2 cents.

How about case between PDD and BABA? In the last 5 years PDD was up 450%, on the contrary BABA was down 61%. You said many times that BABA is a great business but the share price is the opposite and market cap of PDD is bigger than BABA

In my opinion,we do not know which stock can increase 3x,5x,10x. But 1 sure thing we know there is some company their business model, economic moat enable to make their net profit ,EPS and FCF increase consistently YOY in long term. Thus, we just need to invest on those company which net profit, EPS and FCF increase consistently in long term. As long as we are holding this type of stock, the chances to become 3x,5x or 10x is getting bigger and bigger.

How to know which company has wide moat?
easy, look at the No. 2 in that sector...can the No. 2 took over the lead? How many competitors are there, is margins in that sector getting squeeze...ie low margin?

I know of many retired elderly and even young people got burned BADLY.... bag holding BABA and NIO for more then 3-5 years already.

You comparison should be more like a 5 - 10 year time line as the companies Ark has in her portfolio are relatively young.

SMCI
ARM
IONQ
IOT
Comparine UNH and TDOC is inappropriate cause there are nothing close competitors. TDOC is more of an online consultation while UNH includes things like healthcare plans. DOCU again is only on the document related part, nothing close to a comparable with adbe where they even go to all illustrator, PSP and such. Not a good comparison or even a distruptor.

I think the moral of the story is he could have Made a decent yield on his farm and lived a great life if he stuck with a sure thing rather then fixating on the next new shiny thing.

How about Nokia vs apple?
Nokia is supposed to be the winning thing, they got everything going for them but they grew lazy, arrogant and fail to innovate after growing so big and so they become sluggish... When the next new tech hits, Samsung and Apple iphone overtake Nokia and left it in the dust.
This is one odd example of a unique case where companies with track records fail. Sometimes, even of the company has good track records for 5 years or more, you also need to see how hungry is the management team, how smart is the CEO etc..

This is not advice or anything but I see scary staircase that goes lower and lower. It's not comfortable nor healthy at all to keep thorn in body. And when I last time checked other people say that their biggest mistake was to invest in BABA, or in general in Chinese stocks.
When everyone hates it and bad articles come out all at once and options iv at historical lows. That’s when you start building a swing position. I’m in a huge swing I started this morning at the flush. 8 months out
