    I bought your book and have followed your plan for the last 25 days and I am forever grateful for your investment into the health of women! Thank you! I am currently on too low a dosage of HRT and working to get that increased, but I am feeling so much better following the principles of your plan! Even my family is seeing an improved version of myself and I’m hopeful and excited (for the first time since 2019) to be my best self soon! I thought menopause had broken me! Thank you; it hasn’t!

      Hi there, I’m happy for you. I’ll be 44 in 3 months. My cycle shifted from 28 to 20 days for one year and now sometimes it’s every 2 months. My body temperature has changed. My sleep is interrupted and at best I sleep 4 hours in a row. But I have never been a big sleeper and my youngest is 7 yrs old so I had sleepless nights until just few years ago. When there was this shift in my periods cycles length I had a memorable night sweat, panic attacks, anxiety. Pain at joints and muscles, fatigue. Extremely low mood. I felt I was even suicidal. But I have 0 stress, 0 reason to be unhappy, all good reasons to be joyful. I know it’s estrogen. Reading your and other women’s comments, I’m getting so frightened for what is coming that I don’t know if it’s worth asking to a doctor for bio identical estrogen patch + progesterone. Is it too soon? Shall I wait for it to be really awful? How awful is it? Sorry to bother. I also haven’t understood something. When menopause hits, it’s not at all possible to have sex?

    I bought the book in October and have been following and changing our eating habits. Both my husband and I have dropped over 15 pounds each and are feeling great. I have referred 5 women and so far 3 of them are having great success. We are all post menopausal and are finally seeing our belly shrinking 🎉

    Dr Mary Haver, I love your book The Galveston diet!! You are definitely a rockstar!! My question to you is when you were going through perimenopause and finally reached menopause, were you not exhausted? How could you push through with your job of delivering babies and not be exhausted and have a family?

    My obgyn put me on bio-identical testosterone cream last year and I was still feeling exhausted. I'm 46 years old and the testosterone didn't fix my tiredness. I discovered DHEA that's derived from wild yam made in a compounding pharmacy. I am a new me. I now have more energy than I did before. I stopped the bio-identical testosterone cream since it's contraindicated with DHEA. Wow, I feel much better. Point taken about having to advocate for myself with my practitioner. For a while I was mad at her for not turning me to DHEA. She later clarified that as a practitioner she was taught to prescribe testosterone, not DHEA. Wow!!

    • @MoniquePierpont
      @MoniquePierpont 9 месяцев назад +4

      I think it will. I bought the book AND audio book so I can listen to it on the road. This book has opened my eyes. I'm 54, and I've been suffering for years. This book explains so much. I'm about to start changing my diet because I truly believe an anti-inflammatory diet will help with a lot of my pain. I'm also on the patch and oral progesterone now. Hot flashes are gone. We're still playing with my estradiol dose. Buy the book. You won't be disappointed, except in your physicians!

    • @tonyanelson2202

      Yes! I was shocked after only 25 days following her plan how much my inflammation has gone down! My joints feel the best they’ve felt in years. I have been very physically active my whole life and was so frustrated that my joint pain and odd little injuries was putting me at a more sedentary life than I like and taking ibuprofen around the clock. I also had this growing abdomen, which I now know is visceral fat, despite fasting 20+ hours a day since 2018 to counteract my increasing inflammation.

    I had a hysterectomy due to uterine cancer in 2003. My maternal aunt, with the same medical history of uterine cancer in early 40's, took HRT after her hysterectomy and developed breast cancer. I opted out of HRT to test whether it made a difference for our daughters and granddaughters (minimum of three maternal generations with uterine cancer). Is that still a concern or are there new options that could benefit me?

    As a fellow PCOS sister, I hear you. Just because you didn't say it out loud, your "dieting," early on, is aka "disordered eating." I also hesitate to use the diagnostic nomenclature (it starts with ano). It's such a triggering word. Been there, as well as the bingeing, the depression triggers, all of it.
    Now, I'm pre-diabetic. I've given up simple carbs - had to, I did not like the over 125 fasting glucose readings. I've changed what and how I eat. 25 lbs down in the last 8 months. Hard work, loads of frustration and arguments with family.

    I’m 52 and still on birth control pills. My doctor would like to take me off soon to see if I’m in menopause. I told him I wasn’t comfortable with that because I’m in a relationship and sexually active. I’m in Texas, and I can’t afford to get pregnant. He said my birth control pills are similar to a hormone replacement so he is letting me stay on them another year. I’m not sure if I should stay on them or go to HRT. I just don’t want to get pregnant.
