Wow! Thanks for posting this, downloading whatever, I am so excited. My mother and I bought this record together when I was in high school. The movie came out on TV: "Deadman's Curve, the story of Jan and Dean"--and our whole family watched this show. My mom and I were not quite 20 years apart in age. WE shared much in common with music. This is one thing we both loved, surfing music! She had seen them on American Band Stand in 1964, I was a baby, born in 1962! (December of that year) Anyway, I have added this album to my play list, as I do not have the album, I think my Dad still has it. Mom passed away in 2018. Man, I miss her, so does my Dad. Married 56 years plus when she passed. Thanks for the memories and music!! WE loved Jan and Dean! God Bless! Love, from Oregon!!
Some thoughts on the cover. First this, the cover, wasn't an ego trip by Dean. He had recorded music post Dean's accident as Jan&Dean. Nobody in the very early 1970's would ever have thought that Jan would to return to performing. Thus that final panel .
Thanks for sharing one of the most important ANTHOLOGIES ever put together in Rock and Roll ... this album also has the COMEDY SIDE that was suppose to be the original concept for Filet of Sole....
I met Jan and Dean at record bar in Greenville north Carolina in 1979 they were promoting their recently released anthology album they both signed the front of album to me my sister and my mother I was 8 years old I still have that anthology album and cherish it and the memories of meeting jan and dean
I'm really glad that someone took the time to upload this album for all to enjoy since I really like this album and many others of Jan and Dean personally drag city is the best
Bought this at Oldies Fest ‘99 in New Richmond, Ohio when I saw them. Jan signed it for me. To say he was a nice person would be an enormous understatement.
I have this LP, got my cover signed by both artists when they visited Austin, Texas (separately) many years ago. There is a great booklet inside with their story - a must read if you can find it.

September 1, 2017 - Jan & Dean - Filet Of Soul Redux: Live Remote From Hullabaloo Club ‘65 (Omnivore label) - live album with comedy elements that was rejected by Jan & Dean’s label, and shelved until now. Notes by Dean Torrence and David Beard. "Best Classic Bands" premiered a track.
years ago I had this as a double vinyl set. am very excited to see it here to relive that album. I got to see them live 17 years ago in Des Moines, Iowa middle of winter but it was summertime in the venue.
A bit of trivia--Their first hit, "Jennie Lee" was by Jan and Arnie. Arnie did not want to pursue an uncertain career in pop music and Jan then teamed up with Dean.
Not really. The credit went to "Jan and Arnie" but Dean was working them before leaving for Reserve duty in the Army. It's unclear (even to him) if Dean is actually on this version.
Dean talks about this in the liner notes. My copy became water damaged, but from what I can recollect, he, Jan and Arnie Ginsburg went down to the New Follies Burlesk at 6th and Main, downtown LA, and witnessed Jennie Lee, the Bazoom Girl.. Next thing you know, she's the subject of a Top 10 record.
In Mark A. Moore’s recent Jan Berry bio “Dead Man’s Curve” Arnie sets that story straight. The stripper was not the inspiration for the song but rather was a tale Jan liked to tell because he thought it sounded better than the actual rather mundane truth behind the song.
Pretty much everything on this set beyond the very earliest cuts featured the Wrecking Crew, before they were called than. Brian Wilson began using them on Beach Boys records after hearing the success Jan got with them. Brian has given full credit for Jan’s major influence on his own work. Jan was making successful records for three years before Brian began his Beach Boys work. They were great friends, writing partners and Brian frequently played keyboards and sang on a number of Jan & Dean records ( despite Murray Wilson’s heated objections!)

I actually owned this 2 record set and saw Jan in Escondido CA for there LAST live performance. Still a huge advocate for getting them into the HOF
Not one RAP CRAPPER should be in there ahead of J&D and many other bands!
I got it age 13 had NO idea who they were but they played movie on TV and I found and got it and still have it

Jan Berry was a musical genius!

I did have this same lp. A great record.
I had this album. Thanks for the memories.
Was and still is one of my favorite albums from my favorite artists. Thanks for sharing.
Listen to the drums on Surf City......AwSome!
It has Hal Blaine written all over it ! !
right on Hal!
Hal Blaine and Earl Palmer playing together in unison!
Hal Blaine and Earl Palmer. Jan famously doubled the drummers, bass players, and guitars on his productions. That’s where the big sound came from
Thank you for another wonderful trip in your Wayback machine, Mr Peabody. It was fantastic.

Lots of fun and good memories listening to J&D
I had this album a long time ago and I lost it. Now I have it back (downloaded) :-)
Inolvidable dúo de los 60's, canciones preciosas
Album cover designed by Dean Torrence under his Kittyhawk Graphics banner.
Album cover sucks
I wish I could get only the forth side so I can share it ... it will make new Jan and Dean fans...
I just downloaded this album and I have a video editor, so I can isolate the 4th side.

Oops. Spelling mistake in the name. Thanks for the upload.
Awesome….some of this I’ve never heard….kinda rockabilly-ish!❤
A bit of trivia--Their first hit, "Jennie Lee" was by Jan and Arnie. Arnie did not want to pursue an uncertain career in pop music and Jan then teamed up with Dean.
Don't forget THE BARONS and what was on the B side of Jennie Lee?
gotta geta date B side of Jennie Lee. RockinRonny
Now, there were two different versions released of JENNIE LEE, weren't there? I heard a version where the lyrics were clearer.
Not really. The credit went to "Jan and Arnie" but Dean was working them before leaving for Reserve duty in the Army. It's unclear (even to him) if Dean is actually on this version.
Back to the future with Sha na na GOLD!! 🥇🥇
I've been looking for Surf City my whole life--and my woodie's about out of gas!
Had this on 8 track.
Great greatest hit album. Canadian I believe.
Read somewhere that "Jennie Lee" was a "stripper" Jan Berry happen to see perform in L.A.?? Anyone??
Dean talks about this in the liner notes. My copy became water damaged, but from what I can recollect, he, Jan and Arnie Ginsburg went down to the New Follies Burlesk at 6th and Main, downtown LA, and witnessed Jennie Lee, the Bazoom Girl.. Next thing you know, she's the subject of a Top 10 record.
The irony in Pop trivia is...The Hollies "Stop", "Stop", "Stop" was an experience a couple of the guys had in a New York strip joint...
In Mark A. Moore’s recent Jan Berry bio “Dead Man’s Curve” Arnie sets that story straight. The stripper was not the inspiration for the song but rather was a tale Jan liked to tell because he thought it sounded better than the actual rather mundane truth behind the song.
United Artists - 1971
Steve Burstein--The original was recorded by Jan and Arnie. Later, Jan and Dean recorded it.
Jane Lee - mi favorita -
HUGE FAN
29:40 is the 1964 stereo "hit" mix of "Dead Man's Curve" featuring The Wrecking Crew
Pretty much everything on this set beyond the very earliest cuts featured the Wrecking Crew, before they were called than. The rip roaringist insanely record at 50:07.
