I would like to share you about the Mt.Wakakusa Yamayaki (Wakakusa Mountain Burning), a traditional event that heralds the early spring in the ancient city of Nara.
御神火奉戴祭と古都奈良の早春を告げる伝統行事でもある若草山焼き行事の様子について紹介させていただきます。
若草山焼きで行われた花火の様子に関しましては、前回の動画をあわせてご覧いただけましたら幸いです。

Wow that looks kind of scary.
I understand the traditional significance, but i wonder if this particular ceremony still has it’s place in today’s world…
Great video though, thanks for sharing it with us all.
Thank you for watching! Originally, it was a festival to appease the spirits of the ancient tombs on the mountain, and there is a historical background to it being held as a festival in cooperation with nearby shrines and temples to prevent fires. In addition, to prevent the fire from spreading to the mountain, careful preparations are made, such as cutting the silver grass around the ignition site in advance and setting up a firebreak of a certain width.
@@yamatoshi-uruwashi i understand that, and you conveyed the traditional value beautifully. but nowadays more and more places are ravaged by increasing number of wildfires... Just imagine a mock-earthquake festival, where some building would be shaken down to "prevent actual earthquakes".
Anyways, i know it's not a serious problem, it's just my opinion.
@@birkavese Various efforts are made to prevent fires at this event, so I should have explained that aspect a bit more.😅Anyway thanks for watching!!
I recommend that other places like California, USA adopt
the similar event every year as wildfire hazard prevention measures.
@@kazuoino9012 Thank you for watching😊It's an event where a lot of effort is put into preventing fires, so I hope other people will understand that. I hope it will act as a deterrent to fires.
