It's a god dance with bells or fans) Izumo-ryu Kagura (Performed at Izumo Shrine. It's a purification dance) Yutate Kagura (Performed by Miko and priests. I got interested into learning ritual dances since the past few years. Be it the tribal ones, hindi ones and such. I like the concept of Kagura. I’m no Japanese and no Miko so whatever I’ll pull won’t be Kagura, but I wanna try forming a dance fusion style inspired by it. Wish me good luck 😅

The slow trance like dance of the Miko goes back to the shamanistic dimension of the Shinto way. To isolate this dance of the shrine maidens here yes one can easily fetishize it but to take this dance within its holistic context of the Shinto cosmology along with its priests and other ceremonies is to see it's true nature.
