Nice, but instead of positioning the second cube to fit the position of the blade, you can change the solidify modifier's "offset" property to 0, that way the blade is not offset in the world. Also, on the guard of the sword, you can use a mirror modifier (in your case along the X axis) to make it perfectly even on both sides
