Now that's how you catch an approaching storm. Just slap the camera on a tripod and let the storm come to you without all the wagging around of the camera that so many folk's do. Excellent job.
Completely awesome and what I especially like about this video is that the uploader let's the scene do the talking, no hysterics like omg or shouting and wailing or screaming or crying etc, brilliant job love it 😊
Really nice video. I like how it's kind of split in two, the lower half showing our presence on this planet and the upper half showing natures presence. As the city gradually disappears in the rain the greater presence is shown. That might sound weird, but that's how it looked through my eyes. Nature is awesome, thank you Dr.
I saw a severe thunderstorm one time so intense it turned the clouds purple and pink. Unbelievable lightning. However that wasn't the worst. Summer 1995 Chandler, AZ the sky turned black as pitch. Later that night we had tornado warnings
I remember a storm years ago when I was a child in the early morning where you could literally feel the electricity. The sky was a sulphur yellow and there was a faint smell of ozone. Haven't witnessed anything like that since. Just love watching storms, always fascinates me.
That description, sounds like common post-May T-storms that are super strong! The post-May T-storms while usually no hail, tend to have more strong lightning bolts than what I often see before June. We tend to get very loud ones in June, July and August. August is too well known for super loud ones! 🤣
I was once videotaping a thunderstorm right above my house, but I was inside my house, and it ruined my phone. Any video I took after that just sounded like static. But I love storms and I love this video seeing it approaching the camcorder and all. Super cool, thanks for uploading.(:
That was a really good storm even though it was only a little one (I usually call big ones, ones that last more then an hour). Reminds me of the first storms of the wet season here in Australia where right before the monsoon we would get these huge storms roll in as well as tons upon tons of insanity driving humidity.
Once upon a time i was seriously scared of storms...fast foward many years later, I'm disappointed by severe storm warnings that doesn't add up, the end! BTW this looks great!
I have always disliked thunderstorms. I can tolerate rain but never rain with thunder and lightning. That being said - this video was actually quite peaceful to watch and very relaxing.
May 29, 2012, widespread hail in Vermont. I was wondering if it was just a T-storm like usual, when at Woodbury in Springfield, Vermont, when I saw a lightning bolt and heard thunder, but after the guy I was with, in the late-1990s GM 2500 with the 350 V8 went towards the mini plaza and got next to the old McDonald's, (it was torn down in 2013 and replaced with an entirely new McDonald's) it was hailing! But it was small hail. OK, 6 minutes into this video, sounds like June 5, 2010 in New England, which had no hail, TMK, but the lightning bolts were nothing to underestimate! That day was known for repeated lightning bolts, especially what RUclipsr, "LuvsTstormTapes" got in far-south New England! I got similar in Springfield, Vermont and got the borrowed Canon PowerShot A530 out, which was from 2007. It only does SD, but the quality is stunning!
Greetings from Spain! Sorry for my bad English. I am fond of meteorology for 22 years now. A couple of questions: - What values you measure dewpoint when there are thunderstorm? -And what CAPE value?
I live in Wisconsin and we get around 20-25 tornadoes a year and some pretty wicked storms. Last year around 5am I believe it was in July I was woken up cause it was so bright out, the sky was yellow and it was so still outside there was a huge storm moving in it was such an awesome thing to see! Another time when I was little I remember being outside and it was windy out and hot an humid then the wind stopped and the sky turned pea green.
well, that did what it said on the tin... cheers for posting it :) i do LOVE a good thunderstorm! was great to watch almost the whole thing from beginning to end from such a good vantage point. i could do that for hours on end. swooooon...
rain and wimbledon seem to go together, but now that you mention it, GBR and rain seem to go together. actually, i just got out of bed when i read your comment and thought you were talking 36 hours rather than minutes.
June 27th and 28th were crazy for storms. I seen a severe storm that flooded Belfast and a strong gust front-type thunderstorm with a lot of CG's, although I was in Ireland and didn't get as much activity. Although few in England near Blackpool and one at sea from Scotland on the 4th and 5th of July where the biggest I have seen all year.
this was a cell in a series of cells but this cell had a good amount of magenta in it. the radar was NWS enhanced radar. as I recall, the cell was somewhat round but amoebic looking.
Normally we do, although the ones on the 28th June were big! I had one at 3:30am with lightning every 3 seconds, and later in the day other parts of the country had lightning more than every second in the strongest storm, and a a couple tornadoes and hail upto 9cm!
Gopro hero 4 session may be your solution to waterproof capture. I used 2 to capture the July 19 storm (2017) and bolt lightning in London earlier this week. Edited the best bolts together and arranged some music to echo the visuals, check it out.
its not so bad the lightning and thunder, here in belgium have seen it much worse, green clouds with a supercel off thunder and lightning,in + - 3 secs 25 lightning strikes, just love to watch it
In June 2011 here in Boston we had some crazy severe t storms with lightning and thunder galore and where I was working about 10 miles outside of Boston in a suburb called Norwood they would get some intense severe t storms cause the town is in a valley. And I almost got caught in a few of those severe t storms when walking to the bus stop a mile from job on the main st but I escaped the lightning and monsoon type of rain but man those t storms were wild that month back in 2011 in Boston and norwood.
Wow. I'd love to witness a storm like that! One day... I'm surprised by how many people there are still driving around in their cars, surely you'd avoid the roads?! Does Minnesota get a lot of storms like that? It's not a state I'd usually associate with crazy weather, but then my knowledge of states is a bit ropey at the best of times.
+Lydia Coutts We've had an exceptionally nice summer and fall. I'm not much of a winter person and unfortunately that season is too long for me. We do have tornados up this far, so when BIG weather moves in, it's best to head for shelter.
Monty Mellonripe Interesting, I didn't realise there were tornados that far north. I'm in Scotland and we don't get any dramatic weather, having the standard British temperate climate. A little excitement would be nice once in a while! That said, I realise the terrible devastation that extreme weather can wreak, so in that respect we are very lucky.
Yeah. The most amout of lightning strikes from one storm I have seen this year was about 5 or 6, and I have only seen 4 storms so far. The UK and Ireland suck for storms, I rarely see one :(
Monty Mellonripe Right, you did say that. Sorry about that. Do you know if a severe thunderstorm watch and a severe thunderstorm warning would both be yellow box? I love the weather so I’m trying to find out as much as I can about it.
how do you call a storm where there are 3 waves of clouds? first wave being i.e yellow, second one gray, and the third one black I experienced that kind of thunderstorm once and i was amazed at the sky/clouds it looked so freaky
Now that's how you catch an approaching storm. Just slap the camera on a tripod and let the storm come to you without all the wagging around of the camera that so many folk's do. Excellent job.
thanx, jerry. hopefully, there'll be some winner storms this year.
Monty Mellonripe where was this at
Agreed !!
TWIN CITIES
when you first hear the wind 😱😲😒
Completely awesome and what I especially like about this video is that the uploader let's the scene do the talking, no hysterics like omg or shouting and wailing or screaming or crying etc, brilliant job love it 😊
Yes, Monty, I DID enjoy this video!! The footage is BREATHTAKING!!!! No one could have topped this!!!
This is one of the coolest thunderstorm videos I've seen
This was a severe thunderstorm in Minneapolis.very good video shot of the approaching storm going over the city skyline.
I love that view and how you are watching the storm approach. I love storms and I wish I got more where I live.
I saw a severe thunderstorm one time so intense it turned the clouds purple and pink. Unbelievable lightning. However that wasn't the worst. Summer 1995 Chandler, AZ the sky turned black as pitch. Later that night we had tornado warnings
Lone Wolf wow I'm glad you shelves made it and you
That's called Scattering, it only happens with heavy storms
It's always incredible the storms the Minneapolis area can produce!
I remember a storm years ago when I was a child in the early morning where you could literally feel the electricity. The sky was a sulphur yellow and there was a faint smell of ozone. Haven't witnessed anything like that since. Just love watching storms, always fascinates me.
Simon John Hinton agree grandpa lol
Simon John Hinton XD sorry but your storm sounded very intense
That description, sounds like common post-May T-storms that are super strong! The post-May T-storms while usually no hail, tend to have more strong lightning bolts than what I often see before June. We tend to get very loud ones in June, July and August. August is too well known for super loud ones! 🤣
Good video, my 7 year old loved it
It's incredible how quickly it comes in! Great video!
Thank you much, papo. It's nice when the weather cooperates!
Could not have picked a better view of this one...bravo sir
Love these Storm visuals. Gives you a totally different perspective when seen from a higher vantage point, rather than at ground level.
were was this at ???????
I was once videotaping a thunderstorm right above my house, but I was inside my house, and it ruined my phone. Any video I took after that just sounded like static. But I love storms and I love this video seeing it approaching the camcorder and all. Super cool, thanks for uploading.(:
Nice video! WOW! I'd love this view! Especially to watch thunderstorms, like this one! :D
I'm looking forward to this year's season. Thanks, Blauwhoed.
Great video!
What would've made it an Excellent video is hearing the "clapping" thunder after a lot of that lightning!
Only getting this video in my recommendations 8 years after it came out. Great capture of the approaching storm, tho.
That was a really good storm even though it was only a little one (I usually call big ones, ones that last more then an hour). Reminds me of the first storms of the wet season here in Australia where right before the monsoon we would get these huge storms roll in as well as tons upon tons of insanity driving humidity.
Thanks. I'm sure if I was there watching it in person, I probably wouldn't think it was so peaceful. :-)
When I was on holiday last year, there was a massive storm just over the coast of where I was and it was bright purple and pink, it was amazing
Once upon a time i was seriously scared of storms...fast foward many years later, I'm disappointed by severe storm warnings that doesn't add up, the end! BTW this looks great!
Minneapolis disappears quite frequently. For me, the dynamics of weather is always interesting.
I have always disliked thunderstorms. I can tolerate rain but never rain with thunder and lightning. That being said - this video was actually quite peaceful to watch and very relaxing.

Thanks, shauntbarry. We've had tornadoes hit Minneapolis, but not the downtown area(that I'm aware of).
Greetings from Spain!
Sorry for my bad English.

You should definitely speed this wicked footage up, then add a new video to RUclips as a timelapse video! it would look awesome!
GOOD COVERAGE !!! GOT TWO NEPHEWS IN MINNEAPOLIS,MINISOTA.THE STORMS HAVE BEEN GIVING YOU GUYS THERE ALOT OF HELL!!!
Thank you!
In the Wikipedia I read that in July 2005 was measured in the state of Minnesota a dew point of 86 º F. It's really incredible.
Wow thats so cool how the clouds just keeping moving right and then it just covers the while city nice video!!!
Cool I live in Washington so when we get a thunderstorm its rare and not very good... But that is absolutely awesome !!
That is insane. i've seen thunder and lightning for what seems like nonstop but this is really nonstop.!
I live in Minneapolis and will be recording more weather events this season.
Thanks for commenting.
Epic thunderstorm. Was there blue sky on the right in the distance?
I'm watching this video of a thunderstorm while there's a thunderstorm raging outdoors. However, your thunderstorm was better.
well, that did what it said on the tin... cheers for posting it :) i do LOVE a good thunderstorm! was great to watch almost the whole thing from beginning to end from such a good vantage point. i could do that for hours on end. swooooon...
Amazing video you should keep this up.Were was this?
amazing storm cell. Minneapolis, MN.
Fantastic. Paradise for Thunderstorm-freaks
rain and wimbledon seem to go together, but now that you mention it, GBR and rain seem to go together. actually, i just got out of bed when i read your comment and thought you were talking 36 hours rather than minutes.
We don't see these kinds of storms in the UK. Would really like to see one though! Great video.....love it!!! :)
I really appreciate a great storm, I also appreciate a great camera man.. nice video.
Michael Hamilton thanx Michael. Hopefully, there'll be some big action coming up soon.
Great video mate from the UK
it's that time of year! thanks, mrsmars.
4:42.. Dang that was loud o.o
BDarkStarB i agree
when thunder scares you:
😱😲😫😒
One of the largest storms I've seen was outside of Delaware a week ago. Lasted 2 hours and started at around 1am
great job what a vid capture 👊👊👌
Do you live there? If anymore storms come along you should record it, amazing footage!
June 27th and 28th were crazy for storms. Kind of wish we had storms like that here in Las Vegas, we never get them anymore :(
OMG What a awesome storm, and it's raining and blowing and thunder and lightning.
I remember this day. I was eating dinner outside my front porch and this storm randomly came.
thers a thunder storm right now but i love thunderstorms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wonder what ever happened to our friend monty i sure hope he is ok and in good health but this storm was amazing
Love a good storm 😊 unfortunately, we don't even get small storms 😩
Where do u live
Thanks for the video whereabouts are you. gotta love the growl of the sky. have subscribed to your channel.
u remembered what the radar image looked like??? it appears to be a squall line in some sort. great vid and quality
this was a cell in a series of cells but this cell had a good amount of magenta in it. the radar was NWS enhanced radar. as I recall, the cell was somewhat round but amoebic looking.
Is that green sky I see in the distance at the beginning? (Around 1:10 mark?)
Normally we do, although the ones on the 28th June were big! I had one at 3:30am with lightning every 3 seconds, and later in the day other parts of the country had lightning more than every second in the strongest storm, and a a couple tornadoes and hail upto 9cm!

Happy you enjoyed it, Nigam.
I love Minneapolis im from pa but i didn't want to Minneapolis and i love storms im looking forward to coming back in the future
In June 2011 here in Boston we had some crazy severe t storms with lightning and thunder galore and where I was working about 10 miles outside of Boston in a suburb called Norwood they would get some intense severe t storms cause the town is in a valley. i don't know if Minnesota is part of Tornado Alley but I have heard of them getting whacky weather.
Mid Western States always have bad storms then anywhere else
Hi. Are you in Devon area by any chance as we had a storm about 6pm and it was going on for 30 minutes to 1 hour then started again a few hours later.
Good photography....where was this anyone know....
Almost every afternoon in Florida during the summer. Except we get more lightning.
Thanks for commenting. Nice to hear from the UK.
That's what you call a fabulous thunderstorm
love how it slowy covers the city
How big did the hail and how strong was the wind?
the magic of independent cam cording, Briony.
Very cool angle. A still camera gives us a better idea of what's really going on.
Someone took Thors parking spot
Septiplier Trash? Septiplier Trash. I know
Yeah. The most amout of lightning strikes from one storm I have seen this year was about 5 or 6, and I have only seen 4 storms so far. The UK and Ireland suck for storms, I rarely see one :(
This is how you should always record your videos... good work on this 1 ...:D
"A Mellonripe Production" lmao XD Thx for the upload :)
unimaginable how much energy and matter (in form of water) is stored in such a cell...
What city is that?? That was a cool super cell how hot was it that day ?
What Town Is It
I made a video of this storm too. There was a TON of lightning from it. Nice video here!
Great footage
Thanks, norrbagga. I have a couple of good friends from Oslo.
Thunderstorm with beautiful structure occurring on Pentecost Sunday.
Great job catching that amazing thunderstorm! Were there any tornado watches or warnings with it?
as I recall, that cell was yellow boxed
Monty Mellonripe Right, you did say that. Sorry about that. Do you know if a severe thunderstorm watch and a severe thunderstorm warning would both be yellow box? I love the weather so I’m trying to find out as much as I can about it.
What kind of camera is that? The quality is crisp! Nice video, btw! :)
thanx Brinah. the camcorder is a sony hdr - cx350v.
Severe Thunderstorm or Strong Severe, or just Strong? Sweet stuff man.
stay tuned sean; i try to camcord the more potent storms. there should be some good ones coming up.
glad you enjoyed it.
damn thats a big storm where was this filmed?
5:28-8:49-14:43-18:57. Look how it changes. It's cool
whaddah you think, duq; is your god using a nikon or canon?
i think we all feel better now that you feel better. have a good evening, michelle.
BEAUTIFUL strike at 2:32!
how do you call a storm where there are 3 waves of clouds?
first wave being i.e yellow, second one gray, and the third one black
I experienced that kind of thunderstorm once and i was amazed at the sky/clouds it looked so freaky
It depends on the Sun is that shines through the clouds and when it does it sometimes makes color
My favourite storms are the ones that are pitch black as night colour with tons of lightning even though it's 4:00PM 2 hours away from sunset.
You got it, pal!
Thanks, TheBaza1980
