LYRICS TRANSLATION:
- When I served my sentence
I felt so lonely and lost.
She died from grief and I,
the guilty one, know she died being good.
She was buried in the evening,
the daughter of Juan Simon,
and Simon was, in the whole town,
the only gravedigger.
And, as he was carrying the shovel in one hand
and the hoe on his shoulder,
everyone would ask him:
- Where do you come from, Juan Simon?
- I am a gravedigger and I come from,
I come from burying my heart.
"I am a gravedigger
and I come from buring
my heart"
Oh. My. Lord.
Tears flowing.
I LOVE ALL OF YOUR ROSALIA'S REACTIONS
This song made me cry 😢
I burst into tears the 1st time I heard it.
Guys, if you can, find the lyrics because all the tension and cries of her sing will be elevated by the meaning. Thanks for your reactions! kisses from Barcelona
The translation of the title is: "Juan Simón's daughter". Actually, it is a really sad song that tells the story of a man (Juan Simón) whose daughter dies of sadness and he buries her, but he says that he will bury his heart. I hope u will react to the video of Vogue Spain in which this song is sung by Rosalia beautifully!👏

This is it. So beautiful it hurts
YESSSS
Thank you for reacting to this song, it's one of the saddest songs (you can tell by the guitar sound) yet most beautiful. I'm so glad that Rosalía is making people from around the world, like you guys, love flamenco, because flamenco is not music, it's a universal feeling!!
Check the original song out from Juanito Valderrama, who Rosalia has confessed to learn a lot from: ruclips.net/video/It9aDtQ2QSg/видео.html, it's simply exquisite!!
By the way, this is a "milonga", a "palo" or "cante" (that is, a flamenco musical form) and there's more than a hundred different styles, so get ready to enjoy the ride! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palo_(flamenco)
Really enjoy your reaction videos, please react to "Día 14 de abril": ruclips.net/video/qzrUsxAwmMU/видео.html
Big hug!
This song "The daughter of Juan Simón" is a musical play by Nemesio M. Sobrevila on which two Spanish films have been made. It is also the name of the main song.
The first film, directed by José Luis Sáenz de Heredia, premiered in 1935.
The second version is from 1957, directed by Gonzalo Delgrás, with Antonio Molina in the lead role.
Consider that, hearing the feelings in your own language, the different variables of each language, understanding them well, makes an unforgettable version.
I see all your reactions and I know you love flamenco. In November 2010, Unesco declared it Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
A greeting from Spain.
And everyone asked him
"Where do you come from, Juan Simón?"
I am gravedigger‚ and I come
I am gravedigger‚ and I come
From burying my heart

electricity through the body, listening to Rosalia .beautiful.
Que voz por dios 🙏🙏
It´s incredible how this girl drives you to enjoy musical paths which many people exposed to it (in Spain) usually don´t care much (me included). It says much from Rosalia talent and your open mind.
She made an old man cry! All right. Love you kiddos!
Flamenco music is pure soul, it's the divine within us, no matters nationally or language

Hi guys, today I subscribed to your channel after taking a year watching your emotional reactions.
In Spanish I have put a joke that is difficult for you to translate because it is that those who do not know English well when we sing in the shower sing English "invented" something that is not English, but that sounds phonetic to English for a Hispanic. :)
I thank Rosalia, because thanks to her, I see English people doing the same with Spanish. :) Do not be angry that you have no bad intention.
Juan Simón's daughter.
This song is a "Zambra" one of the flamenco songs that are ordered by rhythms or province of origin and are almost 50 different types.
This song of the 30s of the last century, is very sad very very sad. It tells the story of a man (Juan Simón) who has a daughter who is seduced by a lover who separates her from her father and introduces her to prostitution where she contracts syphilis and returns to her father. When he knows what happened, he kills his daughter's lover and therefore spends many years in prison. When he leaves and returns to the village with his daughter, he gets a job in the cemetery of his town as a burial soon after the daughter dies and it is her father who buries her, when he returns, someone asks him where he comes from and answers; To bury my heart
I warned, it's very sad.
You make a nice reaction and I subscribed to your channel (although I thought I had already done so) :)
¡¡Bravo enhorabuena! !
Merçi
I see you got goosebumps at the end. No wonder. The song is very emotional, about a gravedigger who had to bury his own daughter, and Rosalia did a great job transmitting that sad feeling.
Yessss another Rosalia reaction
This song was singing forJuanito Valderrama...much better. I love Rosalía but all the songs of Los Ángeles are very old and famous songs and its sooo difficult to compares with another artists from that time. I think she is so brave to make this because they are legends of flamenco. I prefer when she put flamenco and another styles of music like in El mal querer. In fact, el mal querer makes her famous, not the other. But now there are many people of the world listening flamenco for first time thanks to her and it makes me happy. I hope she gives us a new álbum soon! Please, react to the rest of songs of el mal querer, they are so good! Love you, guys. Hugs from Spain!
Gracias hermanos!

Love your reacts guys, you should try Camarón de la Isla, he is the best "cantaor" of flamenco according to many experts. Salute from Spain x)

She sings that song amazingly, and gives it her own touch and style. But, I have to say that, almost, anybody can sing it the way Antonio Molina sang that song. Give him a chance, I really recommend it. Good video!!! 😊🙌👌

Pepe Marchena - The daughter of Juan Simón (Milonga)
Cantaor: Pepe Marchena
Guitarist: Manuel Bonet
Year of recording: 1926.
Flamenco stick: Milonga.
They buried in the afternoon
to the daughter of Juan Simón;
and it was Simon in the town
The only undertaker.
Himself to his own daughter
to the cemetery he led;
he dug the pit himself,
muttering a prayer
And crying like a child
from the cemetery he left.
As in one hand
he carried the shovel,
and on the shoulder the hoe,
everyone asked him
where are you from Simon;
I am an undertaker and I come
To bury my heart
It was two o'clock at night
and I approached your ufano door,
with my bandurria in my hand;
wake up, divine flower,
wake up, angel of love,
wake up, divine dawn;
both are giving now,
rather early morning;
and if you are delighted,
wake up, divine dawn.
Oh look
you're killing me;
oh look
and I can't anymore;
mountain, I'm going with you
Where do you want to take me?
* These ancient recordings are kept in the library of the Andalusian Institute of Flamenco.
You both are outstanding
3:28...Great Master Antonio Molina's way.
think i've watched this like 17 times, you so loveable
The author of the letter of the milonga "Juan Simón".
Neither the Colombian poet Julio Flórez (read here and howl) nor one Francisco Garas (who no one knows who he is), much less an anonymous author.
The lyrics of the most famous Flemish milonga of the 20th century is originally a composition by the exquisite Reusean writer Francisco Gras y Elías (1850-1912). With the original title of Simón El Enterrador the poem appears in the Spanish press of 1877 (1) and its author includes it years later in his work Lost Notes: original poetry (Barcelona, 1880).
The second edition of the book echoed the Spanish and American Enlightenment of January 8, 1883: «... Lost notes, original poems by Mr. Francisco Gras y Elías. This book has reached the second edition in a short time, and deserves it; because it contains very good poetic compositions. Sell yourself, to a peseta, in Tarragona, printing press of Puigrubí and Aris ... ».
To Gras what is of Gras.

La hija de Juan Simón is the story of undertaker. His daughter dies and he must to do his work with her body. It’s a poem about the pain when sons died.
Love this song

From Spain, I love u guys but this song it's nothing if you can't uni the the lyrics. This song has almost 100 years, try to heard from Juanito Valderrama. That's spain. I love Rosalia but she is not a truly flamenco singer.
Another suggestion for you it's camaron, la leyenda del tiempo or any song from Camaron

Like a spaniard, I think it's so amazing to see and hear those songs reborn (that my great grandmother, my grandmother and my mother sang to me), songs that are so old, ethnic and passionate as my culture.
Congratulations Rosalia since, without being your culture, you have been able to give it that current pinch (?) El pellizxo que tiene
. It seems incredible to see people sing less popular flamenco all over the world.
Although the flamenco purists, the forms and the people who say that you are not Latin (see Latin definition in the dictionary), attack you, go ahead please
