Thank you. No one else has talked about fuse or battery turn off before working with wires.

Thanks for the video. Your splicing looks nice, I would like to learn that method.

I have a CCI Pre Tell 21. Original and 21 years old, still going, tho now I’m wondering if that’s what the 21 means in the model name.

CCI is out of business, so I am sure your unit is at least out of warranty...
Propane gas, I am told has a combustible density of 20%. So perhaps "21" in the model name refers to at which point the alarm detects a dangerous gas level.

I would replace it with a New One , even though you think it works

The crackhead that wired mine up at the factory didn’t label the diagram very well
    I’m guessing “RAO” means radio

I was over 200 miles away and the thing would not quit chirping. Old lady was screaming make it stop, ended up having somebody just go cut the wire loose tape it up till I can get to it.

I heard a better test is to take butane lighter and expell the gas into the sensor

The manual states that testing with butane gas from a lighter can damage the sensor. They did not state why, so I do not know under what conditions it is permissible.
