wow! You are indeed,a tough, resilient, daring lady! Proud achievement and could see n feel, your determination as you kept hiking the tough terrain! Well done! Your tag name of "the lazy woman" does not match your "hardworking spirits"!!! ha ha.. best rgds from Kampar,Chan.
Years ago I was stung by those huge bees when I thought I had shooed all of them off my backpack, was swollen and painful for a few days 😅. Good that they have ladders up there now, the first time I see summited Nuang in 2004 I don't know how I got up and down that section haha. Oh btw Mr Friendly squirrel didn't make an appearance? Just last week one of my friends summited Nuang and near the summit one girl actually fell off the side of the slope, a Malim gunung managed to get her back up. She was lucky she was unhurt
My first hike to Gunung Nuang was in 1997 and all I remembered there were nothing to see at the peak! I think Mr Chubby Friendly squirrel went for a nap after much snacking from hikers whom reached the peak ahead of me. 😆 I went to Gunung Nuang a week before the incident and hope the lady is recovering well.
Wow 1997, was it introduced and guided by friends I suppose back then you all didn't use malim Gunung. So happened in 2004 I was only occasionally playing tennis and didn't do any hiking or running but I signed up for the trek because it was organized by a sister company for training those who signed up for Kinabalu. Without realizing how tough it was I just signed up thinking I could get some nature revitalizing. The 1st time I went I could only reach Pacat and came down half dead, two weeks later they organized another trek. I thought I would try to reach Pacat again for conditioning. Then my colleague who runs etc kept encouraging me to reach the peak, reached the peak at 12.20 ate Maggi mee cooked by 2 guys we engaged as guides and they told me to start going they'll catch up. My colleagues had already descended by then. So I slowly walked among the rocks towards Pengasih as I was already super tired. After about 10 or 15 mins I heard the guides behind me say hey why aren't you turning towards the right to go down? Good thing they caught up to me just then otherwise I would have unknowingly gone down the Janda Baik side which I didn't even know of at that time and also I had no food, water, torchlight or thick clothing. Even then I was so tired and slow we reached Pacat at 6 plus and the guides told me if you see or smell anything don't mention it haha. By the time we reached Lolo I think it was 8 or 9pm and I told them I want to lie down here till morning but they were horrified haha. So we refilled our water and we slowly made our way back. Otw along the endless trails sometimes due to tiredness I would just plop into the water pools 💦😂. Then the guide pointed out look at those glowing things they're spiders, be careful spiders have flesh eating bacteria 😅. Long story short we reached the car park at 2am haha. Btw you should know that last time the last few hundred yards the track was filled with ankle busting stones / small rocks before they cemented that section hahaha.
