Bryant Dubois was reported missing five days prior on September 28th after his Auntie, Charlotte Dubois, who was his guardian at the time of the incident, was unable to locate him. During this period, Bryant was travelling from Rangley, Maine to his final destitanation: Oquossocc, specifically West Side Drive. The footage depicts Bryant Dubois crossing the South side of the West Side Drive before being breifly hit by a Ford Taurus SHO, which is shown to be skidding off the road. The car then crashes after the clip is cut. The man inside the Ford Taurus SHO is identified to be Chen Jarsdel, a 37 year old local from Oquossocc. Chen survived the car crash with non-lethal injuries, but Bryant Dubois suffered from blood loss and died at the hands of Chen Jarsdel. Officials depict that Bryant Dubois originally ran away from home due to the mental stress coming from his current conditions. His family was divorced and due to complicated dynamics, he was forced to live with Charlotte. Charlotte was low-middle class which caused some backlash between her and Bryant, with him sometimes storming out. Charlotte seeing this, she classifies it as normal behavior for a child and failed to take into account of Bryant's well being. In an interview with the RBC, she stated: "He did this all the time, I don't understand why he didn't come back this time. I don't get it." Once Charlotte went to inform the police, a search was put in place by Seargent Austin Jared. However, the police force clearly failed to properly conduct a search operation and some locals have called out the Police in their area to be "Lazy" and "Unwilling". Austin Jared stated in an interview: "This is clearly a misconduct in our system and we, on behalf of the Maine PD, would like to formally apologize for the uncooperative decisions we have made in the past few days regarding the search of Bryant Dubois". After Chen Jarsdel was taken to the hospital and treated, he was arrested and briefly taken into Rangley Police Department for questioning. He revealed that he was sleep deprived at the time and could not see well. He was unaware of the child's presence on the road and the car could not stop before it was too late. It is important to mention that Chen had the Ford for a long period of time. He does not recall the last time he took it in for repairs. This means that this could have been a result of a possible brake-failure of the car. Chen Jarsdel was tried for involuntary manslaughter, as well as negligence and vehicular homicide and sentenced to 30 years in prison as well as $25,000 in fines.
