In this video, I break down Week 3 of Pantheon & the Rhulk Indomitable challenge in Destiny 2! This week has a -15 power delta, with a newly revamped Rhulk encounter at the end of the boss gauntlet. Today I'll guide you through all 6 encounters, with tips, tricks, and loadout recommendations to get the brand new Exalted Beyond Oryx emblem. Hope you enjoy the video!

This is the week where you have to have people who either know exactly what they're doing mechanically and loadout wise, or you have people who are willing to let you control their loadout. Good luck doing the latter in LFG without people being weird about it lol. Last week you could easily get away with less cooperation in that sense coz solar was so insanely free and it was only -10. Took me 6 hours to do week 3 because the groups I had would be running stuff like chaos reach, not speccing into survivability enough, not running a better dps weapon... etc etc.

For Caretaker, you can build your first Grand Overture volley before the encounter begins. From spawn, just drop one floor to where Caretaker is and shot his immune spot (face) to build the missile volley. Then rally the raid banner to refill ammo, and start the encounter as normal.
This week was great! Had a bit of a struggle dealing with surges and tougher damage but it wasn’t too bad! Great guide!

I've been a proponent for treating this game like a traditional MMO for years as they've been slowly giving us tools to make builds and playstyles akin to MMO job classes since beyond light.
The fact that the strat proposed here to deal with rhulk is essentially kiting has made my voice on the hill I stand alone on feel a little louder.
This game has always had a lot of traditional mmo elements, but its shooter and looter elements are still there. In mmos, you generally don't unlock a ton of optional gameplay functions, but in destiny, you do.
@sauceinmyface9302 I was referring more to gameplay strategies/tactics. We've been given the tools to make analogues of tank builds, healer builds, scout builds, and more, thus opening up the possibility for many varied and intricate strategies to take on various different encounters.
And yet, with all this, the communitys' collective wisdom for combat has barely progressed further than "stand in well, shoot gun in one direction."
Rhulk, Simmoma. Hell, even that scorn boss from Presage. These are the beginning examples where using the tools we've been given with a little bit of creativity (or in simmomas case, what it was originally meant for) makes them significantly easier. Instead, we still try to shoehorn well, and it's typically with less than stellar results.
I'm hoping that with rhulks Pantheon encounter (and hopefully nezerrac panthen, too), people are gonna wise up and realise that bungie is getting serious about shutting down well.
@@VRGUILE I... disagree. Destiny raiders already treat the game like an mmo. And in every mmo, in a raid setting, your goal is to maximize dps, and minimize everything else. "Stand in the fire, dps higher." Well provides us our one buff. Tether or tractor or divinity provides us out one debuff. Everything else can be devoted to damage, and it is. The only exceptions have been when we're forced to not deal damage, like being a taunter in golgoroth, or being the aegis in vog. And even then, people have said "screw the mechanics, we can do more damage if I help out." With that, we juggle the shield on Atheon, and we have the off taunter shooting the boss until the last few seconds.
@@VRGUILE I don’t fully agree. Unfortunately, Destiny is still far from a regular MMO, and even in the way of builds there’s not many that allow you to maximize damage like you have to in D2 with as much ease as the meta builds currently do, especially in a raid environment where the overall vibe is “do as much damage as physically possible and if you can ignore mechanics, do so”. That’s just the fact of the game. As far as well is concerned, you’re never not gonna see a moment where that isn’t used. It may appear like a small DPS boost in some encounters, but that DPS boost is sometimes all you need to clear an encounter, so I doubt we’ll ever see a time where we’ll of radiance isn’t used in a boss encounter.
@@VRGUILE This falls more on Bungie rather than the community imo. We're compelled to use Well because Bungie overtuned it.

Had no idea that you could three phase him and still get platinum. we wiped so many times on final stand trying to get to two phase and spending our supers just to fall short on damage. Thank you for this information.

@Sunflamer yeah thats probably best especially with izi swaps or lucky pants. I have field prep frenzy and it foes pretty wrll
@@Sunflamer my preference is field prep and frenzy since it's a long enough damage phase you can unload the whole reserves and orbs aren't always available for explo

Finding a competent team to do damage is impossible. I’m tired of doing double the amount of damage vs everyone else on my team.

I never did Rhulk at all and let's just say one of my clan mates gets a little heated if things go worng so I'm not sure If I even wanna attempt it. However Conditional is tempting and will probably be the only way I get it unless I find ppl willing to farm nezzy but even then I might get ppl who want me to do mechanics and while I have no trouble learning new things every time I did raids I was always ad clear, I always had ppl who had jobs picked out.
I spent an hour and a half trying to get platinum caretaker… was doing 3-5M damage in two floors but got kicked because the ads would peg me a few times.
Had a glitch with caretaker yesterday on second phase where he was auto stunning on his own during damage phase.. it stayed on first plate and we just melted him we all sat there for a few seconds and thought it’s going to cap out and not let us do damage because it’s first plate but nooo he kept auto stunning and just let us wipe him out 🤣 so yeah point of the story is he mindful it could happen and let’s hope bungee doesn’t fix it
if you just precast golden gun on atraks you can still get the parasite shot off
Trying to juggle this and a uni deadline is destroying my sanity and sleep schedule.
Is it too much to ask for a team that knows how to do planets and survive at a contest level, but doesn't require several low-man flawlesses and Day 1s?
Warlocks can also run Broodweaver too, yeah? That Super has amazing burst damage and could hit pretty hard with it being strand surge too.

@@c.squidy You are asking for trouble if you run stasis or arc warlock for this week. Both supers are useless for dps.
@@oxsila Pretty much stuck on well until we see what burn Nezarec’s -20 gauntlet will be.
Is it possible to hit the points total on Atraks required for the Triumph while leaving either a Servitor or the Tormentor alive? Asking for a friend
Yes! And if you fall short of the 500K, you can just kill the Tormentor and it will put you over the threshold.

Yes this week we did! Last week was weirdly inconsistent, but this week has been no problem. Also, if you’re struggling for points, you can just spawn and kill the tormentor 👍🏻
We didn't first pass but just did it a little faster 2nd time round and nailed it

Literally goldie shot and switch to lucky pants, and have a arc if stasis heavy and go nuts at least for hunters lucky pants are the best
Hunters are just crazy right now. Nice thing about Rhulk is you really don't even need a Well, so can spec heavily into damage.

Just a FYI:
Surges dont work on atraks, same for debuffs. The only one that works is from weaken grenade. Think all weaken nades work but heard word of warlock only working.

@@thegymteachersgrandmait’s because outside the map a captain named Atraks-1 is sat that holds her health bar. So when debuffing clone for some reason only weaken grenades can reach the true Atraks. My best guess is weaken grenades have a different type of weaken than anything else

I just spent 12 hours in the lfg trying to 2 phase just to get told you get enough points to 3 phase. 😐

Next week you wont have the luxury of 3 phasing him for platinum as you wont get bonus score for him given that he wont be the final encounter anymore. Nezerac however youll likely get platinum going over time
You forgetting about Palmyra B, very slept on stasis precision rocket that has Auto Loading EL, the reduction to the damage nerf it received makes it really good vs Rhulk (Its also craftable ;) )
It has a .8 dmg modifier due to the frame unfortunately
My team cannot seem to two phase planets no matter what we do

my team hit a 3 phase but missed plat, we must have been super close then because i know we dealt with plenty of tormentors
Mannn must have been enough time decay then. Because we 3 phased and definitely still hit plat on stream.

Yes, you don't need to meet the timer. Points from tormentors and everything else should put you in plat threshold. So you can 3 phase him.
I don't have parasite or lament, so I feel like im gonna get kicked from lfg. I can do witch queen campain, but are there any alternatives?
If you can get an exotic cipher and an ascendant shard, grab Grand Overture from the Monuments kiosk in the tower. It's good burst dps if you don't have Parasite and it's also Arc which is the surge for this weeks pantheon.

2 cheeses for Rhulk:
1. Bait the clone to the top left corner then to the wall at top mid, clone will not move if the person it has eyes on doesn’t move.
2. Bait Rhulk near stairs and when he does his charge move he will instantly die if he touches the stairs

@@SapphireTempestCandleOfStories well it’s more like he reverse trips on the stairs, instead of falling down (he drowns) he gets launched into the skybox and out of the map, thus getting killed by the Architects (he rises)

Don't sleep on coldheart, my team and I just plat it and 3 of us were using coldheart when we ran out of rockets. It melts and is way easier to lad optimal DPS with it rather than with crowdstrike or Izanagi
Great for killing the Tormentors and Rhulks weak spots too
