I put all mine in the recycle bin, now I can't put my bin out till I hear the garbo truck coming as people rummage through it and leave a mess.

I am one who goes through bins but I never leave a mess. I wouldn't like to think there are many who are not putting their bins out in a timely fashion.

I don't know about the machines, they do look hard, but South Australia has been paying cash for bottles and cans for about the last 50 years. It used to be 5c now it's 10c. I have a couple of bales on steel frames that I chuck my cans and bottles in. Every year or so I take them to a can depot, which are everywhere, they count them and give you cash. I usually get $120 to $150. It doesn't take long. You will not see discarded cans or bottles anywhere in S.A., and if you do see one, it won't be there for long.

Yep as a South Aussie living in Vic I can vouch for your story.
I actually forgot that Victoria had mad recycling available so started crushing up my cans not realizing they have to be left whole for the automated machine.
Back in SA the in person depots couldn't care less what the cans look like. That's progress for ya.

When QLD started cash for containers my prefered brew ( 30 pack ) went up $3 two weeks before and another $3 just after introduction ( total scam ).

In Qld it’s run in by Qld Govt, not a third party. Maybe the AC was not up to the computer’s min specs.

My whole piss off with the thing is. Why is a beer bottle worth 10c but everyday household glass jars we use are not worth 10c and milk containers.

Shopping centres hava planning permit based on the number of carparks.
Lost parking spaces and an additional bussiness does it comply. What is the carbon footprint

Have to admit these reverse vending machines (RVM) are very hard to work with.
Closures when they are full, faulty etc is very annoying. Plus the bottle has to be in pristine condition nearly for the scanner to read it
I personally do collect my bottles and the pile builds and when I get around a trailer load I take to a recycling plant which has a spinning top like thingie me bob putting bottles onto conveyor belt and counter and it’s super fast to sort.
I don’t care if they take a small rake off my amount as the time and effort saved is huge compared to the RVM

I use these machines the other day, the first day it was out the whole day. It was down bloody joke as I rode my bike all the way with $300 worth and the next day I went back and one side was working on the other side wasn’t

In the 60s when i was a kid, i get on my bike on garbo night n grab all the cordial bottles, long necks n cans ......take em home, sort em n take the cordial bottles back to the shop for cash, the beer cans n bottles back to Cascade Brewery with my Dad, n that was my pocket money. Nothin wrong with container deposit schemes....people are just bloody lazy 1:08

When I seen the heading with those words saying a short rant I thought here we go, another 20 minute video but hey congratulations I can’t believe you actually made a video that was actually short in time at 2.08 minutes, surely a record for you Anth.
PS I think the scheme is great if you find a worthy charity’s deposit account number and enabling you to donate the 10c deposits to the charity

We fund raise and donate thousands each year, but this time waster system that doesn’t work is useless If it doesn’t work or if you’ve got a wait in a queue for half an hour, which is what it normally it normally it looks like when you’re driving past here.
Most people would be better off doing an extra hour of overtime and donating that because they’ll make a lot more money in the same hour than a few cans leave the cans in the recycle bin. Anyway, I had my winge 🤣

Recycling is not a waste of time. Better than continual build up of rubbish along highways etc.

    • @Fourby4Diesel
      @Fourby4Diesel  8 месяцев назад +2

Do you think that the people throwing them out the window they gonna stop doing that? No! and people aren’t going to risk their lives, picking them up along the side of the highway the people that were putting them in the recycling bin other ones burning extra fuel wasting their time going to these machines that are not working.

Australia does not have the capacity to recycle most of its waste. More than half the recycling waste ends up in landfill. You are actually paying council for a bin and a service that in most cases fails to recycle any of its contents. Fact.

@@Fourby4Diesel Works in SA, helped a lot with cleaning bottles of the roads. Yeah people will chuck them out but there will definitely be people who will stop and pick them up. It's common to see some one in SA walking around with garbage bags or driving trailers just picking bottles and cans of the road. Many people will do it if there is some money in it. Just takes time for it to take on and for people to figure out the best ways to maximize returns.

Recycling is not a waste of time, but these malfunctioning useless expensive high tech cr*p machines certainly are.
