THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES! My heater core is leaking into cabin and I couldn't for the life of me wrap my head around the plumbing despite checking forums, realoem, etc, mad love
My E36 318iS sprang a leak in its heater core and I bypassed it in exactly the way described. So yes it works. Now (6 months later) it's time to bite the bullet and tear into the interior and replace the heater core. Not looking forward to it.
Well I know this is late but I have an 325i straight 6 the cooling system has been redone new hoses and everything then it started leaking from the heater valve heater core area and I could visibly see the water since I needed to see where it was leaking was running down the fire wall so could a cracked nipples to the heater core chase my coolant to puke out in less than a min in that one spot?
Got some question im comfused i want to have heat air inside my cabin but i dont ....problably my HCV its stuck can i put from 1.6 ?bmw HCV? or i dot something so my heat will work inside my cabin?
Yes. This is for someone who has a leaky heater core and needs a stopgap until they can fix it. Or In this case, someone who is building a full on race car.
I did the bypass on 1998 E36 4 cly 328i, I have been bleeding the system for a few times. Consistently after 20 min drive, the engine overheats. Is it an airlock problem? The bypass hose feels hot with coolant when touched so the coolant must be flowing.
There is a lot of reasons why your car would overheat. Bypassing your heater core shouldn’t cause anything like that. Radiator, fan, bubbles, bad coolant, thermostat, water pump, head gasket, kinked hose. you’ll just have to start checking the whole system.
You should only need to bleed the system one time after you fill it up and do a quick 5 min high idle and 1 hour sit time then do your fill up check , you need to give the system time to get up to running temp so the thermostat will open and then give it enough time to cool down before you open up the system , open up the cap fill it up then check the air screw , pinch the hoses a couple times and when the air stops coming out the bleed screw you should be good to go.

Thanks! We appreciate it
THANK U SO MUCH FOR EXPLAINING THIS SO CLEARLY
Excellent information. Nice to know how it’s done.
Thanks for the comment

Isnt it another hose that we have to have it dump in the overflow tank ?

If you want to keep your heat, this is not the solution. You’ll need to fix whatever you have that is broken.
By any chance do u have a diagram to bypass a e38 ? , I would really appreciate it if you can help me with that
Never done an E38 bypass. but it should be the same process.
Do you have to remove the heater core for it to work
No. It doesn’t have to be removed
Will the heat work?
no
After you did the bypass do you totally loose the heat inside?
Yes. This is for someone who has a leaky heater core and needs a stopgap until they can fix it. Or In this case, someone who is building a full on race car.
I know you'll lose heat. But will you also loose AC? Cold air?
@@khaldi no

I just blocked them all thinking it will do but engine overheats and all cooling system acts weird .. so DO BYPASS !!!!
Well, that answers the question I was going to ask. Thanks for your comment!
