I am SO Sad! Great customer service for decades. Fantastic food choices with lower prices ... for decades. And, a Great place to study and talk story. I will miss Kokua ... for so many reasons. 🌺
I worked at Kokua Market when it first opened. I’d donate 3 hours of my time per week in exchange I would receive a discount on food. Loved it! Prior to that the only and first Health Food Store in Honolulu was located by the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor where the Harbor Pub still stands today. This was around 1978. 🤙🏽
The more dependent Hawaii is on shipped in fruits and vegetables, the more powers that be control our lack of spending power . Power and control and to save we play right into their hands. RENT is too high , you end up working just to pay rent. Commercial property owners know businesses are trying to recover from pandemic. Wrong to raise monthly rents .
Foodland on Liliha and School Street is closing this month, too. So sad. Welp, that's the way capitalism works. If you got quality products, quality customer service that's more affordable than everyone else, you should have the most business and put everyone else operating on tight constraints. Gotta learn to successfully automate most of the customer services as much as possible to do more effective cost analysis of what products are hot and kick out the products that are not.

The ecology is unsustainable. 🙏
kokua market lasted 40 years amazing.
I’m now 70 years old. I worked at Kokua Market when they first opened!
Hawaii's anti-business economy kills another business. Over-regulated, over-priced rent, over-priced stock items...
