This is one of those songs that make me just catch my breath. The choreo, the song, the visuals all it is too much for my poor heart yet I can’t stop str17ming it.

This was probably the plan all along. Initially post the video on Pledis' channel to drive traffic there there, then after a couple weeks post it here too. And it's working, Pledis' channel has gained over 150k subs in the last 30 days with about 140k of those being in the last 2 weeks since the video was originally posted there. If you want Seventeen to remain strong and successful, Pledis needs to be too, and that means them looking after all of their artists.
The impact of this song's lyrics, arrangement, choreography and the MV itself is totally underrated. The voice fx of Mingyu and Wonwoo's lines towards the end is chef's kiss! Some carats probably don't appreciate Seventeen's noir-ish songs as much as their more vibrant and lively songs, but this song is one of their most powerful releases for me along with Fear. They nail every genre they dive into from then up to now. Seventeen's versatility is hands down one of their best assets and I'm down bad for that. 🙌
I barely listen to Getting Closer on Spotify because I find this MV so aesthetically pleasing: visuals, synchronization, lyrics, vocal, rap; pretty much the whole package...that for me to enjoy it I need to have the full experience.

@@enfpo0o885 예전에 플디와 하이브가 소속사를 통합한다는 소리가 있었고, 하필이면 지금 세븐틴 계정이 아닌 플레디스 계정으로 올려버려서.. 그래서 캐럿들이 보이콧으로 유튜브가 아닌 브이앱으로 뮤비를 보자는 말이 있었어요. 결국 소속사 통합은 이루어졌지만.. 다시 세븐틴 계정으로 돌아온 게 지금 이 뮤비고요. 아마 그 얘기이실 거에요.
Theory time! If you've watched the Behind the scenes video, S.Coups mentioned that there are a lot of things with hidden meaning in this MV, so watch out. Here's my 2 cents. Since this is a prequel, i interpret this as reality, that somehow they have fallen in love, however, this is a painful love. Maybe they couldn't be with each other or some complication arose, and the pain is so great that they just want to forget.
Enter Wonwoo, who manipulates and makes the members dream an alternate universe where no sadness is possible (Oh My!). Which is why the Oh My MV depicts a very happy, very dreamlike state. In both MVs, Wonwoo plays with the rubics cube.
We also see Mingyu being the only one awake in some parts of Getting closer and Oh My. Perhaps he is the only one immune to hallucination that Wonwoo made, and perhaps he is trying to wake the members up before they fall in deeper to the dream. Perhaps he prefers to be in reality, even though it's more painful than being in the dream.
Since Pledis also announced that for this mini album, there's also gonna be an 'Eternal Sunshine' ver, it reminded me of the movie, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Which strengthens my guess that they are trying to forget a painful love.
Anyway! What are your thoughts?

Sadly I discovered them too late...now the next generation is taking over already and it's a pity because Seventeen deserved to be more popular and hyped up for their past works...

They sell out world tours, their newest album FML had over 4 million presales which is an insane number that broke records and they're also the 4th boy group to have received the Prime Minister Commendation award, so they're not all that underrated either, just less hyped up unfortunately and I wish that would change.

I know they are very popular and awarded in Asia, but I'm from Europe and I'm quite new to the k-pop world. I started with BTS obviously and then I decided to look for other groups and many names kept popping up, but honestly when I dug into them I thought that they weren't that good, imo, at least not at BTS's level. Maybe Europe likes more hardcore music like BP, Ateez, Skz...the thing is, their fandoms are really really loud!! They are everywhere, they talk about them, they spam every post every picture every video with their comments, they make edits, they trend hashtags, they go viral...and nowadays this is the fuel of the industry!! Good or bad, we need to step up this game and promote them like other fandoms are doing with their artists. I'm saying this because I care and I want the best for them, I want to tell everyone that they really are the best group, they have the best discography, the best dancers, the best performers, the best and most difficult choreography in k-pop...and I want to say this not only among Carats but also outside the fandom, to non k-poppers, because I think that they are so good that everyone should know them and see it with their own eyes 🫶🏻
@@federicofiglio The reason for that is because Seventeen as a group is more focused on the asian market instead of the western one and they are definitely much more hyped up in Korea, China, Japan and SEA, so I do agree that it's such a shame that they're not as recognised in the west because they most definitely deserve it.
It does seem like that is changing though and they're gaining more and more fans with each comeback thankfully and the boys seem to be very happy and that's all that matters in the end. Them appearing on all kinds of popular shows and being mentioned and praised by multiple artists and celebrities on top of their extremely hard and amazing work is definitely helping with that as well.
I'm kind of curious though, why did you think that Seventeen wasn't good and what made you get into them and become a fan despite that?

2 days are passed and we still don't arrive to 1M. It's pretty sad, and youtube still doesn't put this MV when you search "getting closer seventeen" on the search bar. It puts the MV on Pled^s, the choreography practice, reactions, the teaser...It's gonna be pretty hard to gain visits on this
I'll watch the hell of this mv out, not only because it's fire and the dance break is amazing and I can't stop thinking about the chorus but because some carats were outside pledis building protesting, because many of us sent e-mails and because as a long term fan of pledis groups (I'm talking Son Dambi years) I know how lacking the company can be. Seventeen is one of the most successful groups under Pledis and I don't believe it's coincidence they are also self-produced, their debut was constantly delayed, for years, they are involved in many aspects of their content's creation (from concepts to music production and choreos, etc) because if they weren't they would be just like Pristin, who won rookie awards but haven't had any comeback since We Like. So yeah, many international fans can be against the protest because they think it could harm the boys, but let be honest here, Pledis doing whatever they want is what could harm seventeen career more than anything.

Paulina B pledis wanted to sell the svt rings the members wear, carats didn’t want that because it symbolised svt as a group and are special for the members, thought they shouldn’t be capitalised, pledis removed the rings as merch. I think that’s the story.
@@GregorioBang All the members have matching rings that they got before they debuted. It's really special bc it symbolizes their teamwork and commitment to stay together. Pledis tried to sell the rings as merch. As a fandom we collectively protested bc the rings are important to the boys and if CARATS want a momento we can just have bracelets or something. Selling the rings makes them lose their meaning. We managed to get them to stop selling the rings.
Honestly it's pretty well known that Pledis doesn't know how to properly manage their groups. We don't want the same thing to happen to Seventeen that happened to others groups so a lot of CARATS can be pretty protective. It's intense tbh
