I’m from Louisiana... we like to boil those flavors and spices in with the crawfish. Bc the crawfish sucks up all that seasoning. Never had them this way. We put everything in there .. mushrooms, corn, potatoes, sometimes sausage. I usually dump a whole bottle of worcheshire sauce in there, lemon onions garlic, salt, butter, crab boil, half a bottle of jalapeños.... Man my mouth is watering !! Yum
I miss the days of little league end of season bbq at Matillaja hot springs in the 60's and 70's catching crawdads on hot dogs on a stick and trout on bubble gum.
As kids in Hawaii there was large artesian spring near our house. To catch the Crayfish we had short bamboo poles and string which we would tie dried Cuttlefish legs. We would dip the Cuttlefish leg in the water and the Crayfish would grab the Cuttlefish leg, we would lift the Crayfish out of the water into a scoop net as the Crayfish were reluctant to let go of the bait. We would fish for hours on just a couple of legs.
Fred (Jerome ) Williams There ain’t no way you from Louisiana and think that salt kill crawfish !!! That hot water the only thing that kill them after they finish spittin and shittin . Lol
It’s like that in California too. In All the rice fields when they drain the fields you can see the ground move. But you can find them in every river and lake in California and all the agricultural ditches
This really brought back memories. When we was younger we would catch crawdads with our hands and we had no idea they would be popular things called crawfish. Good one
Literally, last week, I easily took 300 pounds of signal crawdads in the Eastern Sierras, most of them bigger than my hands. Signal Crawdads taste a lot more like lobster than the Louisiana red swap mud bugs.
Another Great Video. My wife loved watching you two having fun. Reminds me of camping on the Russian River. We'd use a flashlight at night to gather tons of them, boil them up and eat the with butter around the camp fire.
Old Bay is good........But try Weber BBQ's Kickin Chicken Spice as well......I also add small Red Potatoes, Large Chunks of Sweet Maui Onion, and chunks of Corn on the Cob into the Boil as well.......Good Eats
My brother's and I would go catch crayfish ( we live in Canada ) with my dad every weekend during the summer then we'd hit the lakes for some off shore bass fishing. It was so much fun and being the only girl in the family it would be so awesome to catch the biggest fish lol bragging rights! My dad has passed on now and I lost most of my eye sight, but I do enjoy living vicariously through you guys! Love your vids ❤ keep it up!
Aloha from Hawai'i. There's a fun way we catch these in Hawai'i. Catch one by hand or net. Break the body in half & attach a piece to a long stick. Use the stick to attract or lure them out. Once they grab on to the bait, you can either lift them out of the water or into you net. Enjoy! 🤙
You should have way more subs then 59k this is real catch & cooks without any fancy gear or boats keeping it real , wish your chanel the best keep it up watching at 4am from chicago.
I’m in California too. I love crawfish. At some point had ordered almost 100lbs of live crawfish from Louisiana because of my serious craving. Didn’t even know there’s craw dads in Cali
Was this before or after Katrina bc didn't that contaminados the water there? By the way would u share w/me where you ordered from? Thanks! Happy 🦐 eating!!
Purple Rane Katrina is a long time ago. I got this when the pandemic started. I ordered from Louisianacrawfish .com. The more pounds you order the lower the price per pound becomes, and I think it’s free shipping for orders over $100.
Share the location bro im from fairfield cali and i used to catch them in griffith park in los angeles and eat them but out here in fairfield there is no place to go get some.let me know if you can let me know the location to that river or creek.
What you mean..... you live near hella marshland. You like 15 mins from the delta/ boonies. Just got to know what to look for. Small creeks all around have them. So do rice fields. I’m near Davis. Anyways early july to late august is the season so go now.
Here in Florida, we tie a raw chicken leg on a string. Drop the chicken into the water and count to ten. You will have three or four clamped onto the chicken. Bring it up and shake them into your bucket and then drop the chicken back into the water again. Before you know it, you will have a bucket full! :)
I love crawdads. If you want to make it easier to catch them then tie a rock (or use a fishing weight) to the end of your fishing string, tie a piece of bacon to it and put your line out in the water. Within 10 seconds you should have a crawdad grab the bacon and you can just pull them out of the water. Don't cast the pole either, just treat it like a poke pole. I do this with my kids and we can usually catch 2 to 3 hundred crawdads in an hour or 2. Our favorite spots is drainage ditches around rice fields and the canals that go under train tracks out in the cuts so you can fish from the bridge. We do this up in the Sac, Vacaville, Dixon, Woodland area out in Cali.
Wish I could show you how to really eat them. I grew up in Santa rosa . But I live in pa now. Those are awesome to eat. I am definitely jealous 😩...lol
I love this vid. I lived in Cali for 25 years and if we went lake fishing and didn't catch any fish we could fill our 5 gal bucket with crawdads and frog legs in a few hours. Your traps were cool but next time get a box of bacon ends and pieces and med treble hook toss on a old pole or a bamboo rod and dip it where they are 2 or 3 minutes and they grab on and don't let go.
Those inginutive Plastic Bottle Crayfish Traps you made are a good example for people to known how to quickly put together such for necessity and survival purposes. Good job way to go! Excellent vid . I especially liked the underwater shots of the mud bugs . I was thinking no way you’d catch enough to make a meal ( we buy em in 30 lb bags here , and you eat till you can’t eat no mo ) - but you did ! Enjoyed it .Peace from TX .

😂 Dang mine too ! I'm pickin up what you puttin down!
Damn I want some now lol thanks
Drilling holes in the plastic trap spreads the scent of the bait and drains the water when you pick it up.
This dude needs too hit 100k+ subs y'all!!! He's a solid guy!
Totally right on that
Idk why but your voice is sooooo soothing. Like how is it so calm when you are like two seconds from being pinched. Just immaculate.
That looks bomb guys! Missing the potatoes, links and corn brotha.
Totally agree!
can’t forget the thom som too
I am southerner livin’ in Texas and these look tasty, but this is definitely no southern cray boil 🤫
Can’t forget the gan cha too!
@@FordIsBetterThenChevy lol Yee!!!
You and fishermanslife sound a lot alike! I love the idea of spicing them after cooking.
They’re brothers lol.
I like how Taku from outdoor chef throws them on ice and is able to scrub them down.
I love this old video. I wish you were still making them. Thanks for sharing.
We use to go down to the river and fish for crawdads in Missouri as kids. Such wonderful memories! Thanks for making this video!
Matt’s would want to add another few sticks of butter.😂😂 looked bomb

Bubblegum is trout bait?
She seems camera shy. Cute couples though ❤️
First time I remember eating crawdads was in SoCal. Some of the bigger claws are worth eating too!
I just commented about that. I’ve seen people eat the claws on the bigger ones and there was quite a bit of meat in there
Yea I sometimes find them at a local Asian market for $5 a lb and sometimes they are huge enough to try the claws and it was not bad
Wow! Im watching this on my cell phone! That was mouth watering, my phone says "moisture detected at charge port!" 😂😜😆 Good job Daniel!
Yea forget them traps, use beef liver on a line to draw them in, pick up slowly n net them
Exactly, that always works. Also you can put chicken livers in pantyhose. Let's the smell out but hard for them to pinch off and steal.

Good video !! . Looks real good. Try pouring salt all over them in clear water They’ll spit up all the mud .
Salt kills them silly smh
Fred Williams one word Purge

im from Louisiana too, we had a small bridge in our town. we would start there and walk the creek
Ok definitely a thumbs up video. This is something easy that an entire family can do.

We use to catch lobster in the bay the same way - we teased them with a stick and they'd back up right into the net.
Just to be sure, did you say these were invasive?
Yes sir
Like 2-3 times
