      She was not close to getting that loan, not in real life and not in the show. Anyone who knows anything about the finance industry knows that Anna would never have passed basic confirmatory due diligence, which is exactly what happened. Shonda tried to make it look like Anna got close by saying “Fortress approved the loan, they just need to send some people to speak with the manager of the trust” but that’s bullshit. Diligence of the origin / source of funds is BASIC DUE DILIGENCE, it’s one of the first things on the checklist for a bank, and there’s no “approving the loan” without at least clearing that very, very low bar. This is coming from someone who has gone through this process multiple times. In reality Fortress asked Anna to confirm source of funds halfway through DD (not at the very end) and she had no choice but to pull out. If you are having trouble separating truth from fiction, please read Pressley’s actual article

    • @jeffrjlu
      @jeffrjlu 2 года назад +43

      @@laraking804 this is not a man or a woman thing. She expressly tried to fund her business through a loan - no bank on earth will lend you $20M without either collateral or a thorough assessment of your source of funds. Doesn’t matter if your male, female, trans, alien, whatever. This “house of cards” is a reference to people who raise through EQUITY, not debt. Both men AND women get money for bullshit businesses every day by telling stories through equity raises - see Elizabeth Holmes, see Adam Neumann.
      Anna could have avoided all this if she just went to a VC. The show said that she didn’t because she refused to lose any ownership of her equity. In my opinion this is horseshit. In reality, she likely talked to a bunch of VCs but none of them would back a random heiress, fake or not. The show tries to make her out as some amazing queen who hoodwinked all these smart people, but in reality the actual smart people all stayed away from her. Notice that no one committing real principal gave her money? Not even the idiots who backed the “Wake” business? Even in the loan process, only this Alan guy was on her side because as a lawyer he makes origination fees, and takes zero risk. The underwriters who actually stand to lose money if she fucks up denied her repeatedly through diligence

    She did a well job imitating the real person. I thought it was bad acting but literally that's the real accent of Anna

    I found it baffling that so many characters on the show were disappointed that she was found guilty and was given jail time. How could they not see that she's a scumbag and deserving of some sort of punishment. Neff's loyalty to her was particularly ridiculous.

      Ikr i was mad at that too , she did people wrong , she took from people , she needs to go to prison , and the way most of them were okay with her treating them in disrespectful ways that really triggered me , also i don't get why everyone was mad at Rachel ! She took from her ! And she kept asking back for her money for months , she really left her no choice but to cooperate with the police ,i would've done that too if someone's taken my money ! Also Neff was hypocrite for hating on Rachel , as if she was never in her shoes , she literally let her so called friend stay homeless because she didn't pay the hotel and also took her money, she did not mess with her , but felt disgusted by Rachel for asking back for her money , absolutely disgusting and hypocrite of her

      Neff's loyalty was the worse. She was lucky Anna didn't blame anything on her and she treated Rachel like Anna did nothing to her .

    On screen Anna is better looking than the real Anna. I love her accent and insult toward Vivian, it is hilarious. "Are you pregnant or you are just fat?" "Did you husband complaint about your fat face?"

I didn’t know anything of her before this but you better believe I’m gonna be following more of her work going forward.

    I think I need to rewatch “Inventing Anna,” after the reaching the end and seeing what her parents are like.
    Also: I don’t see how anyone thinks Anna is a hero. Or Rachel. Rachel had it coming, and Anna is a sociopathic, self-entitled brat.
