Thank you for making this video! Currently got my M11/9 currently in federal prison currently. Gonna go ahead and stock up on parts during the wait! Good looking out
Great video you know your stuff. I had a full auto RPB Mac 10 9mm I had nothing but problems with it. I sent it to Sam at practical he replaced every part and I sold it. It frustrated me so much I didn’t even fire after Sam repaired it. I sold it. I went with a Uzi.
I did acquire the M11/9 and its been great fun. The short cocking handle I changed for the taller knurled one. Parts are plentiful for these so I have spares of all the wear items.
Beautiful specimen of the SWD COBRAY M11 9MM SMG. Been wanting one for over forty year's. My friend has a COBRAY M10 9MM Open Bolt but he wanted $3K with two magazine's originally. And now want's $4K. Have an opportunity for a RPB M10 .45 Auto on Gunbroker at a decent price but concerned about magazine price's and part's that break and wear out. Like you pointed out in this excellent review. Probably just be practical and purchase a MPA DEFENDER M11 in 9MM. Decision's...love the simple design and compactness. Stay safe. Cheers,
I've always considered the M11 as the one, over the M10, for rate of fire, (1480rpm) and heavy use of Super Vel ammunition, of which so much of wear/breakage can be contributed to, and of course it's ingenious simplicity
Can you make an up-close video showing the reassembly of the lower parts group? There are ZERO videos showing the proper way to do this. Put the Lage hardened sear in and now it does not seem I put it back together correctly. Hoping you can share your knowledge so I feel safe going to the range with this thing!
When I had my m11/9 the stock failed at it's pivot point where there is a little raised pin. A local machinist drilled it out and turned a hardened screw on the lathe and threaded the side of the stock replacing that pin with something harder. I recall it folding on me in the middle of a mag. The selector broke next...cheap plastic....the buffers wear out as well. This was actually my first NFA purchase around 1994 at 800 bucks I think. Crazy prices now and would consider getting back into it if A. I didn't live in NY now and B. if the prices were not too far off from those days... Far too expensive now for the average Joe. which is honestly unfair.
I haven’t had trouble with my stock because I replace it with a wood stock when I shoot it. By selector do you mean the safety button? The selector pin is steel.
@@535tony Just under the receiver forward of the guard with small roll pin. I got the part, but never reinstalled it before selling it, I think the replacement was a metal one versus the plastic part that came OEM on it, this was around 2001. I had modified the stock to the M10/45 (powder springs model) by taking a Remington 870 stock and fitting it to the retractable portion after removing the folder wire part...I did that so that my mom could shoot it shortly before getting out of title 2's...worked good, but was ugly. I was planning on moving to NY and figured I had enough fun with title 2's and sold them off at basically my cost. I think the M16a1 I had with a 9mm upper running sten mags with a mag well adapter block was my favorite to shoot...very controllable for a machinegun. Too bad they are too expensive now though or I'd consider moving back and maybe getting one to shoot. Lots of machineguns up this way though next to Ft. Drum where I am, can hear them, just don't get to shoot or see them being shot....makes me remember them all the time when I hear them nearby.
@@13612 That is the safety. The new ones are aluminum. My M11/9 is nice to shoot with the Tungsten slow fire bolt. Here is my Son and I shooting it. 10 inch barreled upper, M4 stock. ruclips.net/video/A39Eb6oz160/видео.html
Hey Scott- Great videos and very informative. I am purchasing my first M11. What ammo (grains, etc.) does it like? Trying to start buying ammo while my tax stamp is being processed. Thanks,
I always reloaded for my M11/9. I would usually use 124 green round nose. The M11/9 likes Round nose ammo. Winchester white box shoots well. I haven't found any 9mm ammo it didn't like. As long as it is round nose bullets.
I have 2 with sequential serial numbers!! But they're closed bolt semiautomatic examples. For educational purposes do you know of any ways to increase the fire rate?? I wish they would make a "binary" trigger for this gun!
Longer recoil buffer to reduce bolt travel (and thus reduce cycle time) is the first thing that comes to mind, although that risks the gun not being able to fully cycle if it’s not tuned correctly.
There is a funny looking spring that keeps both the trigger and the selector from moving. It fits in a groove in both parts. Check on that spring. It is part A in this link. www.mac-11.info/fcg.htm
@@scottschmitz6061 There is quite a bit of movement in the trigger when you wiggle it left to right. My well used M11/9 and my New in the box M11/9 that has never been fired have the same amount of wiggle in the triggers.
It's truly a shame there's no real way to have an original looking stock in the semi auto versions due to the location of the trigger bar, if I wanted to SBR it.. I like the retro look even if it is a pain to use.
SWD/Cobray made a Carbine kit that would turn a semi auto pistol into a Carbine. The Carbine was actually much nicer in my opinion then the pistol. The 10 inch barreled upper is my favorite on my SMG M11/9. The 10 inch upper with adjustable front site sold for $59.95 in the early 90’s.
@@535tony I was actually planning on doing a faux pinned\welded suppressor to get me to 16 inches and trying to weld together a similar looking stock (don''t feel like butchering an original). I had heard that a stock block design was proposed to RPB back in 1996 that allowed for a wire stock (or some version of it) to be installed without interfering with the semi-auto fire control group. They opted to not purchase this design because they were more interested in buying a finished product, I can't find anything on it unfortunately. What I might do is fab up my own pistol brace adapter , get a folding brace, and keep the ability to remove the muzzle device.
What is the difference with this cobray bolt vs the master piece arms m11/9 bolt ? It look just like that pin you talked about falling out but I can’t find any information
