And we could die in our sin. If we keep ignoring the Holy Spirit convictions and not repenting of our sins. This is Sin against the Holy Spirit. It is a persistent refusal to respond to the invitation to repent thus saith the Lord. Spirit of prohecy says even when we repent and ask God to forgive us and He does, it says we will still suffer the consequences. Hence David, Samson, etc. God also says that He cannot convict those that do not want to be convicted.

Self-confidence is a good thing; we believe in the talents and capabilities afforded us by God. I'd say beware of being overly confident or self-exhaltation.

1 Kings 19:10 Elijah told God that he was running from the children of Isreal who was no longer keeping his covenant and slain God's prophetd; his life was in danger. Elijah didn't say he was running from Jezebel.
Yet 1 Kings 19:1-3, Elijah fled after the threat of Jezebel. Hmm. He wasn't honest with God.
