Samantha Shannon has already sold another priory prequel and she mentioned doing a sequel one day! She said the next prequel will come out after The Bone Season 6
🏴☠️ Yes, 100% regarding wanting a mix things up but then desperately wanting to revert back to your routine as soon as it’s gets thrown off. Especially if I’m not the one causing the change. Paul should read Dune!! I also really struggle when I don’t get enough sleep, so I appreciate how open and transparent you are about not always being or feeling like your best self.
The Barnes and Noble special edition has pretty end papers and dragon on the hardback cover! I'm not going to complain about my copy though...I ordered it from a UK bookstore and Samantha Shannon signed it! I finished Priory and my Fallen Night copy arrived in the same day! So I started it right away. We have a snowstorm where I live tonight (eastern Canada for ya) so I'm looking forward to sitting down and sinking into the world after I put my children to bed ❤ PS: ⛵ I wasn't sure about the second novel when I read it's synopsis, but I'm more intrigued now that you mentioned the mother aspect. Looking forward to more thoughts next week.
I really want to read A Day of Fallen Night and The Priory of the Orange Tree. I will probably read A Day of Fallen Night first to make me excited for The Priory of the Orange Tree. I like your suggestion of doing it that way. ⛵️
I think I’m in the minority of people who love the Crown of Gilded Bones. I like the story, but I love the people in it, if that makes sense. I totally agree that it gives the closest vibes to Feyre and Rhys. I’m curious as to how you’d feel about the prequel trilogy. A Shadow in the Ember is the first and while it took me a bit longer to get into that FBAA, I wound up loving that one. The characters are more adult, and Nyktos gives Hawk a run for his money. I just started Priory of the Orange Tree and so far I’m enjoying it.
I agree with your thoughts on Amina, though I liked this version of fantasy adventure more than the Stardust Thief, which I thought was painfully average. Shannon Chakraborty is so good at describing settings. I felt transported to 12th century Arabian Peninsula and that vivid experience helped me enjoy the book more than it would have otherwise. I felt the character development of the side characters could have used more attention. They were entertaining, but not particularly deep or believable as real people. The main character, though, is great. The ending also has a great moment and you'll know what I'm talking about when you read it.
Okay, you convinced me to start reading The First Binding and I am loving it so far. Now you’re influencing me towards A Day of Fallen Night and I haven’t read the Priory of the Orange Tree yet.
🏴☠ I completely see where you are coming from with your thoughts on Amina. I saw Regan's reading vlog and she kept referring to it as a tale and I thought that was very accurate! You have me wanting to pick up ADoFN so badly but I just don't know when! Maybe over my summer break :)
I think considering I remember you not loving the daevabad trilogy (atleast I remember you only liking the end) Amina not working for you makes sense. I have no clue if it will land for me once I give it a try
I'm gonna watch the Lost King at Warren Theatres today, visit with my aunt Saturday before she flies back to Houston, and doing some laundry today. I'm gonna reread Batman Court/City of Owls, then try to make some headway on The Sunlight Dialogues and start reading Star Wars Darth Bane Rule of Two. And try to find some time between all that for some writing
Your nephew is the cutest and growing so fast! I loved hearing you gush about the Priory prequel! I must read from Samantha Shannon at some point. Feminist adult fantasy-yes, please. Your vlogs are the best! ⛵
Dune sets the foundation for blending sci-fi and fantasy genres. Hyperion is a modern classic. I don't think you can go wrong with either one, but I'd think Hyperion would be the better choice to finish first. I don't remember, have you read Ilium and Olympos yet?
Hahah I feel you so hard on wanting to live a 'go with the flow' lifestyle, but then completely tripping up when your routine gets interrupted 🤣🥲I thrive in my little comfort bubble, sorry not sorry 🤪 Anyway, I am sooo mad at myself for not having prioritised A Day of Fallen Night so far... I adore Priory, so I should really get my shit together and read this damn prequel already. So happy to hear that you loved it so much, I can't wait to dive in!! And what a bummer about Blood and Ash slowly starting to let you down. I am curious to see how you'll like the spin-off series if you continue to pick those up! Also, love the nails! Happy reading Britt 🥰
Hello. Priory was an ok read for me but if Fallen Night is better I may give it a shot. I’ll be patiently waiting for your final review of The Adventures of Amina. And last but not least I loved the length of this video and was able to finish it in one sitting. The longer ones usually take me a couple of days.
I started Prior Tree last week following your exciting for this book, at first I wasn’t sure because I’ve read so much darker fantasy but I now love it - sure a warm hug and escapism after a long day at work 😌 thanks for yet another recommendation!!!
If you want to you could read a shadow in the ember which is the prequel book to the from blood and ash series or you could skip reading it and read the war of two queens first I haven't read the prequel yet
I can not do routine! Every day has to be different, or I go insane lol. My husband is like you. I love that we tend to need someone opposite for balance 😂
i mean, kinda, with the routine and variety thing. But I'm on a farm and routine is never really routine XD
Paul must finish Dune.

What pressure - remember - you will not fear .....
I’m THE MOST routine person ever, I don’t ever crave variety. 😂I’m autistic though, so that’s not surprising to anyone!
🦜☠️ I'm actually sold on the Samantha Shannon book. 😊

Love my basic routine , I get totally discombobulated when this changes ,everything else is easily dealt with. We're all different.
I think Amina Al-Sirafi is the adventure story I need in my life right now 🤭🌊⛵️
Also I agree I also lose track of the world while I'm reading but am still aware of my surroundings if I'm on social media
How did I not know you were re reading Hyperion!? I would kill to read your annotations!
