@@pavan__226 No, they leave the seed coat behind. You can see this plant retains its cotyledons. They shrivel up soon after emerging.
it usually take 3-5 years to produce harvest....amazing to see it grown in time lapse
edited: comment corrected me, it takes 5-7 and produce fruits twice a year , sometimes can take up to 10 years. depend on the climate and how well farmers take care of its need

I like how instead of slowly growing leaves after getting out of the seed it immediately gets out with three stems and a lot of leaves
Really interesting, growing and branching before fully emerging! Seems like the stem does the early photosynthesis that the seed leaves would normally - you can see they are totally shriveled almost as soon as it emerges.

Oooh! Send me a seed, I would love to grow a durian tree even though I live in central Maine in the US. It would be interesting putting it in a large 10 gallon container and grow it as an ornimental plant, or even find a home for it in the southern United States where the weather would be more favorable. What a nice looking little plant 🌱
