Map apps are sending drivers onto one of the steepest streets in the country. Tonight people who live in the Echo Park neighborhood are fed up. Laurie Perez reports.
@@veggiedisease123 you do know that the whole south west was Mexico and that families have been there before they even named the state California right? 💀
@@vnthxnyz87 There were 8,000 people in California before annexation and they all got American citizenship when California was annexed. Also, they were not there before the state was named California lol. California was named in 1533 before any settlers had reached what is now Baja California and much before any settlers reached Alta California (now American California). I'm not saying there weren't Mexicans in Echo Park until the '60s and the '70s, just that it was predominately European immigrants before then. Mexicans tended to live around Sonoratown which is modern day Chinatown.
100% you see the kid who halfcab fliped at the top of the road, and didnt do any powerslides - got the wobbles, and literally slid on his back across the intersections lmfao
@@captainknapton because Chinatown and Ktown are very closed by that those types of drivers pass by echo park and well, enough said, we all know how well they drive.
There's a steeper street in echo park a mile away. Have almost crashed twice because neither the person going up or down can see each other until you're at the top of the street
I used to take this shortcut everyday 5 years ago when I worked in DTLA and there was never any cars, I guess word got out and everyone starting using it
@@ItsNatesArt looks nice from far away, if I lived somewhere else I wouldn’t spend a dime to come visit this dump. I have lived in LA for my entire 30 year life and I’m about ready to move to Arizona because of how bad it has gotten. Life is too fast here, and not to mention you have to constantly look over your shoulder. The people who don’t are the ones who get robbed, shot, or end up dead.
@@user-in8xx1xu5b I know it's a scary place but looks beautiful from far away. I'd only go to visit for a few days but it's mad expensive out there. So I'm good here in WNY
@@ItsNatesArt dude it’s ridiculous expensive out here, I make $2,500 every 2 weeks and I’m living super average. If I didn’t own the condo I live in now I’d probably be broke from paying so much rent. Also gas just hit $6.50 in most places
Right i remember walking down a neighbor hood and seeing a steep ass hill that looked like a wall like if u run and jumped u probably wont even touch the side walk until ur at the bottom 😂💀
San Francisco has steeper streets in that little one so it’s not there tallest street in the country has she gone to San Francisco? I’m betting she hasn’t.
Try to park a car on Baxter street a stick shift 5-speed what gear do you supposed to put it on for Park is it 12345-R with a weak e-brake it's all it's life
Nobody was complaining when it was a predominant Chicano neighborhood. Now that it’s white here’s the uproar.
Waze wasn't around when it was a latino area. Plus, it was a white area for the first 50 or so years.

No, Baxter is the steepest one. This video doesn't really show it for some reason. Go drive on it and you'll see.
