Worked like a charm on my Roomster 2007. Bought the blower resistor off ebay for 17 dollars. The work itself took med all and all 40 minutes. Had a bit difficulites clicking on the new resistor. Couldnt twist it back fully but nevertheless, it was secured in it´s place. Now alla speeds on the fan are working. Prior to this operation I hade zero effect on level 1 and 2. Thank you so much for this video! Your effort saves a lot of money and time for us all! I take my hat off for you Sir!
Excellent video - just saved me £100 and 2 days off the road. Only took 30 minutes to do and no problems when connecting battery agai9n. Just need to be very careful about NOT dropping airbag securing screws when removing them. Magnetic bit holder and cardboard used to cover holes just below the screws highly recommended.
Works outstandingly. Very grateful for your video. Removing airbag was a bit of a struggle. Going to test my new resistor. I guess if it dies again, i should replace fan module too.
Brilliant video, the workshop manual says to remove the whole dashboard to gain access, so seeing this has made it 1000x easier. Thanks for putting in the effort.
I'm very grateful to you for this. It was a fairly simple job and took only 30 minutes. The hardest bit was getting the new component to seat and lock in place. There is very little to lever against when using a screwdriver to remove the airbag, but the end of the lug on the far right can be lifted against the steel bracket below it.
Your brilliant video has just saved me around £150. Quoted £53 for the part and £108 to fit by local Skoda garage. Bought replacement from Amazon for £10 and took me around an hour to fit. Bit fiddly but quite doable. I put a small blob of Blutac on the end of my torx bit to hold the screws when I removed them - many thanks.
Great and very helpful video that saved having to take the car to a garage for a simple fault. Got a replacement resistor off eBay and got the job done in half an hour. Read other comments and followed tips like blu-tac on the torx driver. Once I removed the airbag T30 screws, it was loose and I could see that it just needed to be levered up with a large screw driver to pop it out of the dash top. This was helped with some plastic trim levers I already had. Managed to do it without disconnecting the air bag too. The hardest part has re-installing the airbag top cover but once I realised how it clipped back in it was no problem. Thanks for posting.
Thanks saved me money and this video helped me loads, job done in 34 mins, didn’t unplug the airbag, sat it to rightside on cloth. Omg airbag refit took a wee bit persuasion thanks.
Just did my 2013 Fabia with a replacement part from Ebay at £9, bit of a sod getting the airbag plug off and then back on, but all done in about half an hour, or so it seemed! Those Torx 30's are tight!! All done, fan working again, thanks very much for the vid, excellent help!!
Hey man just wanted to say thanks, just fixed my wife's Fabia , my EX mechanic wanted to charge me $1500aud to do the job. Your video made it very easy to do, it took me no more than 15 min. Cheers
Great instructions - worked a treat. I bought some car plastic panel removal tools (approx £6) worth it so no damage to lifting air bag panel. The air bag panel removal is the hardest part! - Thank you
Just done this, great instructions, cost me £7.39 for a new resistor unit, not soldering required, just clipped it in! Relatively easy to do, if I ever need to do it again it’ll be easy.
Awesome instructions. I have the resistance burned for two years and I thought I'd have to remove the full panel of the car, after all it took me 5 minutes to have it out... If at least I'd know before also burning the vent switch... Thanks mate!
Brilliant. Just saved myself over £180 (quote from Arnold Clark). Got part from China at cost of £4 or so. Much thanks to you. Getting the airbag out is a pain though. Really have to prise it out with quite some force. Thought that it would never come out.

Great instructions, thank you. I didn't unplug the airbag as it looked a bit fiddly. The wires were just long enough I could lift it out and put to the side to reach the resistor.

When you change the small resistor Put the whole thing in the water to reduce the temperature, in this way it's risky because you can overheat the small resistor and than you need a new one ! :D

This means a damaged resistor. The thermal fuse may be blown or the resistor circuit may be open. ruclips.net/video/LUNvzyvn8J8/видео.html Replacing the resistor usually solves the problem.
Hi, In my 2009 roomster the blower works fine but there is no heat comming out. I checked the hot water pipes and their both hot. There is no noise when I twist the temperature button so it is probably the blender door actuator. Do you have a video shows how to replace it?

Please guide how to pick a matching thermal fuse 10A or 15A. and also please guide how to solder a thermal fuse in which direction or it can be soldered both sides
10A should be enough. Any direction is OK. This is not a semiconductor element. Before changing check yours thermal fuse. Often is faulty but sometimes there is a gap in the circuit in the unit. You can buy new unit in Chinese shop for a few dollars.

You don't have to but I felt better when I did it while I was taking the airbag out. When you turn the key with disconnect airbag the computer will register an error which won't disappear on its own so you'll have to go to the mechanic to reset it.
No, the key has to be taken out, the power off. In fact you don't have to disconnect the airbag at all but you have to be very careful not to scratch the cockpit plastic with metal part of the airbag. It can be done easily.
@@k-nemo Thanks...just did mine today. It was a real pain as slightly different to yours, I have a Skoda Fabia Estate Greenline. I turned off the airbag using the key turn inside front door. Hardly any space to see where to turn resistor in and out. First time I had not pushed it all way in so fan worked on Number 3, so had to open it all again and push In proper, now working perfectly...thanks!
2 things I did wrong to warn others of, when unscrewing the main screws at 1:15 it is easy to drop them down into the car and lose them... I happened to have a foot long pair of tweezers so was ok but after dropping the first I got some card and bent it gently to make a gutter to lower the risk as the bolt came out, same for putting it back. Other point... as the video says, don't use a screwdriver to lever open the airbag hatch... but equally, when trying to maneuver the air bag to disconnect it, be careful not to rub the air bag fixing across the dash, it has sharp metal pieces on it which scratched my dash worse than the screwdriver showed! Like others I just bought the whole part rather than the resistor... my part looked rusty and had a breach in the coil. Also This is a Skoda Fabia MK2 although the video doesn't make that clear. I am not saying that a mk1 is different... but according to the ebay listing I bought the part as shown in this video from, said it was not compatible with the MK2.... this was not the case however, it looked the same and worked fine.... just saying that because I was anxious when I bought the part but this video convinced me it was probably ok and it was.
Hi I managed to remove the airbag and I can see the resistor unit but can't get it out. I tried wiggling it to the left and right but no luck. Is there a trick to this? I do not want to break it... Also, can you give some info on the type of resistor that you replaced
To take the plug out you need to squeeze it like shown with the arrows. The resistor needs to be turned and pulled out. Sorry but I can't remember which way. I got the resistor from somebody. My friend also soldered a resistor but it didn't work. It started working when he brought a ready to use resistor with a holder.
Thanks for the speedy reply. The trick was to push down while turning it. Anti clockwise worked for me. I have a left hand drive car. I found a complete resistor unit for only as few bucks more than just the resistor on eBay.
Thanks for watching. The temperature is not given on the resistor. Often there is a problem in picking a resistor with the correct resistance. For a few dollars you can buy a full set.
10A -15A, temperature 150-180 degrees Celsius. Make sure is the thermal fuse is faulty. I made another film how to check resistor: 'fan blower motor resistor test' ruclips.net/video/LUNvzyvn8J8/видео.html
Unfortunately didnt work out for me. After removing the bolts i tried to wedge a screwdriver in there, just like you did, but it didnt pry out the airbag. So i went to bigger and even bigger screwdrivers, til i ended up wedging a pry bar in there, bending the whole dashbord as the airbag pushes it up. At some point i gave up because i didnt wanna cause unnecessary damage.
After removing 3 x bolts Torx 30 you have to put the screwdriver under the edge of the metal plate. Look at the picture 1:40 with the red arrow. The arrow is under the edge of plate.
@@k-nemo This is exactly where i put the screwdriver as well. Just twisting it to the side to pry the airbag up didnt do the trick. I used bigger and bigger screw drivers (Much bigger than yours), til i even switched over to a pry bar and wedged it in there. The whole dashbord pushed up on the sides, but the airbag stayed in place. Maybe its due to the cold temperatures, but it unfortunately didnt work out for me.
It's cheapest if you buy the whole pack online, for example banggood, aliexpress, ebay. Some resistors for soldering are hard to pick out, the resistance could be different.
Before disconnecting the airbag, you must disconnect the battery. Now you need to take the service computer to clear the airbag error. It's a simple activity and inexpensive.

Some people say a very dirty pollen filter restricts the air flow causing resister pack to overheat
@@etview my pollen filter has been changed not long ago
Thank You!
Very helpful.
You're welcome
Hi
I managed to remove the airbag and I can see the resistor unit but can't get it out. I tried wiggling it to the left and right but no luck. Is there a trick to this? I do not want to break it...
Also, can you give some info on the type of resistor that you replaced
And where do you buy just the resistor?
To take the plug out you need to squeeze it like shown with the arrows. The resistor needs to be turned and pulled out. Sorry but I can't remember which way. I got the resistor from somebody. My friend also soldered a resistor but it didn't work. It started working when he brought a ready to use resistor with a holder.
Thanks for the speedy reply. The trick was to push down while turning it. Anti
clockwise worked for me. I have a left hand drive car.
I found a complete resistor unit for only as few bucks more than just the
resistor on eBay.
Hello wich temperature for this thermal resistor, is 240° is right
Thanks for watching. The temperature is not given on the resistor. Often there is a problem in picking a resistor with the correct resistance. For a few dollars you can buy a full set.
I'm going to try this tomorrow on my Fabia. fan won't turn on except on highest setting, level 4
I hope it worked
Yes, it did!
Brilliant! Thank you so much!
You're welcome
What is the value of that resister that you have replaced
10A -15A, temperature 150-180 degrees Celsius. Make sure is the thermal fuse is faulty. I made another film how to check resistor: 'fan blower motor resistor test' ruclips.net/video/LUNvzyvn8J8/видео.html
gibt es dafür eine Bezeichnung oder Teilenummer?
Anyone know where the relay switches are on a Skoda Fabia. Also fuel gadge not working replaced fuel pump in petrol tank still fuel
I'm sorry it didn't work for you :(
@@k-nemo it is the same for me probably because its around 0 deg outside....
What is the volt or value of the resistor?
Where is this workshop?
It wasn't a garage. I have changed it myself.
Replaced fuel pump in petrol tank as fuel gadge was not working but it's still not working can any one help .also can't find where relay switches are
hello, nice video. Which resistor is needed? thx a lot!
It's cheapest if you buy the whole pack online, for example banggood, aliexpress, ebay. Some resistors for soldering are hard to pick out, the resistance could be different.
k-nemo Okay! ty
It is a fuse that burns over 240 degreeso to protect the resistor that controls the speed of the fan motor.
Thanks Dude
Thanks👍
Thank you for watching
can the motor be replaced the same way?
No.
thank you
You're welcome
I followed this video and fixed the heater resistor upon re assembly now the airbag warning light keeps coming on.
Before disconnecting the airbag, you must disconnect the battery. Now you need to take the service computer to clear the airbag error. It's a simple activity and inexpensive.
I tried to clear this with 2 scan tools but no success do I need vcds or something specific. I'm afraid that there is something major wrong now
