What wonderful memories. I lived there from 1938 to 1956, when I emmigrated to Canada. My mother ran the post office from late 40's to mid 50's. I was a choir boy soloist. It will always be my home. Geoff Matthews
Thank you so much for your feedback! I too now live in Australia, Gold Coast - so I made it for 2 reasons - 1) as a reminder to me and 2) to promote the village community - there is only 1 tea shop left (as well as the Bear), and the gift shop has closed down too. Don't know when you lived there but my Grandfather and Uncle (The Workmans) ran the village grocer shop! regards Dee
My ancestors (Relf) came from Burwash. They emigrated to Australia in the first part of the 19th century. The oldest daughter of the family later moved to and married in California. I hope to visit Burwash one day. It looks like a lovely place.
@LONDONGULL Hi (Simon?) Actually no, I didn't forget your Dad. The very last shot of the Union Jack at half mast was in honour of your Father, Mike, who had passed away that week. It was filmed at the village fete. He was a great bloke who did a lot for the village. Really really glad that you found this video, take care, dee
I was enjoying a nice invigorating "streak" around my local village church during the service last Sunday - that was until the Vicar caught me by the organ...!
Hi Lorddom81, Eddie Workman is my uncle so I'll ask him if he has a copy! Just to let you know - if you haven't already seen it, there is a video on my channel here called TEN performed by ReturnNorth. That is my band and i wrote it about Burwash school and then filmed there a couple of years ago when i re-visited. it has had the most amazing result - no room to write it on here but if interested message me! cheers
