    just for clarification. the V8 is not fuel pump, starter or anything else, it is geared into the drive shaft of the 2x V12, so it aids in pulling. you can hear it start about 15-30 yards down the range, that's to not just spin the wheels, they use the 2x diesels to start, and then adds the power from the V8 on top.
    I have seen this monster myself several times, and while the power from it, might not compete with 5x V8's the combination is really unique, no one can argue about that :)

  • @georgealmeida7382

    its genious because the deisel and methanol egines have very duffeent torque curves so basically the two diesels get it going and as the max out on rpms by then the gas engine can easily double the rpm and tirespeed without much effort. thats why it wakes gets violently fast at the part of the track where most run out of momentum.

    It took me a little to figure out what was happening with this machine. At first I thought the v-8 on the front was for something running the two big diesels. No, the alky v-8 output is connect straight to the driveline and has it's own throttle lever. It looks as though he uses the big diesels torque to get the sled moving then when he sees he is pulling straight. Then cracks the v-8 throttle for extra tire speed.

    He backed out of that last one and still got a full pull. I thought the hemi was driving one monstrosity of a fuel pump for the diesels, but no, the hemi lights up long after the diesels are at full power. Looks like its used for an extra handful (and by that I mean 1500+hp) of horsepower when he needs it

    Just a simple understanding of fuel consumption and cubic meters of air moved would tend to suggest that this is well in excess of 4,000 hp. There's a lot going on with this one. Looks like a nitrous injection boost creation hard start with the diesels, and once they need the wheel speed, the hemi really comes on strong. Shame to hear it's losing the diesels; this thing was an epic beast at full boost. I think some good waste gates and methanol fuel for indoor events would have provided the mechanical longevity and the usability that look lacking in this design. The motor clearly was overboosted, as the overtaxed cooling system and the head gaskets bore witness, but could have been civilised with the right parts. I think the whole thing is one upgrade overhaul away from being an art arfons style superhero in the internet age

    The KB Hemi provides an Extra 2500HP and about 2000lb/ft of torque ontop of the already 2000Hp and 3000lb/ft of torque(X2)in the V-12's

    They always show horse power but isnt torque the most important number in tractor pulling? I can imagine this beast has 8000-10,000 lb-ft of tq.

  • @mattramsay6931
    @mattramsay6931 7 лет назад +2

    As much as I like how the typical high torque/low rpm car/truck drives (more of an effortless feel), power is what makes the vehicle move. Take two identical vehicles but one has a 400hp/380lb tq gas engine and one has a 400hp/900lb tq diesel in it. Otherwise identical except for the proper gearing for each engines powerband. Race them in the 1/4 and they tie. The additional 520lbs of torque does nothing to get the diesel across the line quicker or off the start quicker. It's about power and nothing else. I admit both vehicles are goIng to feel drastically different.
    So why do we buy diesels, especially for heavy vehicles, or towing (high loads)? Because you can infer from that massive torque figure that occurs at a low rpm that you're going to make a lot of POWER at a low rpm (look up the well known calculator).
    400hp is 400hp. The difference is the diesel might be able to access MOST of its peak 400hp rating at a low 2,500rpm and maybe lower. The gas engine will likely have to be north of 6,000rpm to reach its peak 400hp rating. Even with identical power, towing a heavy trailer up a hill, would you rather be sitting at 2,000 - 2,500rpm for hours on end or 6,000+rpm for hours on end? What would happen to fuel economy with one vehicle in top gear while one has to downshif a couple years to stay in its powerband and access full power
    Again, do the math, high torque at low rpm means higher POWER at low rpm. It is a way to describe the powerband. My Grand National made 620lns of torque at a low 2,800rpm. It probably would have made the same torque lower on the tach but I couldn't start the dyno lower due to converter stall speed. I love low end torque but power and power alone moves the car.

    • @kosachukorganicfarms
      @kosachukorganicfarms Год назад

      The diesel will probably be able to give a continuous 400 HP. Quarter miles aren't impressive. Towing is. Yeah a hellcat or Camaro can make 600 HP, but for how long? That's a difference in car/pickup and tractor/semi truck power ratings. The car can make 600 HP for a few minutes while the tractor or truck can produce it's power inevitably.
      Just my 2 cents

  • @vertigo8715
    @vertigo8715 5 лет назад +1

    think the HP numbers are a bit off lol stock the V12 make 700hp. Betting that tractor is putting out north of 6000hp

    A Spark plug or some post combustion system on the edge of the exhaust pipe.

    No way in hell this is the most powerful. Most interesting yes and arguably most popular. But not most powerful. But it is very well engineered and works very well so can live without the extra power.
