It's a testament to how well the new recording was done that when you sync them up, it just sounds like twice as many people are singing it.
Its not a new recording they cleaned up the original.
@@happy2904 It is different. You can tell by the inflections. For example: the first time they say 'Brothers' the ad lilts downwards while the original goes upwards.

What I think at the first half of the movie is that they show the song and bowser calls Mario but Luigi picks up instead and to come alone to fix a pipe while Mario fixes another and gets sucked in and meets toad and Luigi goes and gets chased by the dry bones and Luigi goes inside and gets kidnapped while bowser is battling the penguins and finding the star and goes back to his castle to ask Luigi where Mario is that’s all I know

It's possible, pretty sure they can afford to pull the strings needed to make that happen, but more than likely Nintendo had access to the original audio and Illumination took that to resample it for this promo. Probably easier to do that tbh
