For Honorable Mentions I can't believe Billboard mentioned Olivia Rodrigo but none of her Disney peers who came before her. Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez had huge breakout moments in pop as well... Demi especially vocally and album-wise should've been an honourable mention. I'm not sure what her sales stats are, but she still has one of the most unique voices in pop today. Every millennial and Gen Z adult has heard "Heart Attack", "Sorry not Sorry" and "Cool For The Summer".
I agree. I’m no fan of Olivia but still she’s way too recent. At that point you could have mentioned anyone that came out in the last five years. But longevity matters
I'm totally agree. With no doubt, Olivia is a great musician, but for her next album, I hope she starts writing about things other than heartbreaks, I enjoy her music but a little bit of fresh would be great. But to be honorable mention, that's too recent. And yeah there's multiple musician should've been mention, and Demi one of them as you mentioned. I'm not a huge fan of Demi but I know that she really had an impact on pop culture. These honorable mention I can see them in top 50, maybe ( except for Billy Eilish , I can see her a little higher maybe top 35 at least).

I really don't understand how some men refer to Miley's Bangerz era as "the time when she was black" while simultaneously sucking up to Eminem. The criticism of Miley for adopting an aesthetic that many associate with Black culture is, at the very least, contradictory-especially when we see Eminem being elevated, despite his frequent involvement in controversial behaviors, ranging from racial slurs to questionable attitudes towards Black culture. He is treated as an icon. You can say whatever you want, but as a Black person, I'll never understand this dichotomy. It's a blatant contradiction in how the industry treats men and women, especially when it comes to gender and race. While Miley was harshly criticized for something that, at the time, wasn’t as widely discussed or acknowledged, many other artists, like Justin Timberlake, also appropriated Black culture and no one says a word. This disparity clearly reveals the racial and gender hypocrisy within the music industry, where the talent and behavior of certain artists seem to be judged by entirely different standards.
The thing is you dolt Eminem didn’t have to fake anything his love for HipHop is real. Whereas Miley just adopted the genre as if she was trying on new clothes then shunned it in its entirety when she was tired of it. It’s not too deep to hold a grudge but people won’t forget that.
And it’s not male vs female please stop with that Logic has been criticized, MGK, Yelawolf, Iggy Azalea was criticized and rightfully so for a fake “blaccent” why could she never rap in her natural Aussie accent?? And now Jack Harlow. People are not as slow as back in the day and people can tell when 💩 is genuine or not
Billboard is TOTALLY RIGHT on this list. They have years of music expertise and Billboard accurately recognizes each artist's value. Shakira should've been higher cuz she literally the worldwide well knows artist. Everyone heard her name in every part of the planet. And the way she still breaking records and her longevity is needs to be studied! LEGEND. P.S. I'd like to see you react to her music more in the future
Britney Spears is the textbook definition of a pop star. She could drop Toxic today and it would still be a hit! The fame of her brand in the 2000s was second only to Micheal Jackson. So the fact that she’s not top 5 is just wrong.

I’m really upset that Chris Brown is not on this list. People can hate him as a person but we can’t deny that he is the king of r&b. His impact on music specifically in r&b. Hate him as much as you want but he is one of the greatest.
BTS above Katy Perry is laughable. What a joke list by Billboard.
@@mrgeraldbaez This is a global list…not just American. Globally BTS’s impact has been far more significant. They’ve literally made a large portion of the general non-Asian audience discover and listen to kpop.
You might think they’re new but they’ve been around for over a decade and introduced a bunch of people to a whole new genre. What did Katy Perry do besides be a phenomenal pop star? This list is supposed to be about impact not subjective listener preference.
Do I think it’s perfect no. But this placement is not the hill to die on
I think BTS deserve their spot.
