Both the 1985 Blue Devils and the 1985 Bushwackers Sr. Drum and Bugle Corps did First Circle. Blue Devils had a short version just for their closer, and Bush did it for their entire show. The music and drill were very difficult for Bush, and few Sr. Corps fans remember or cared at the time because it was very different from what the other Sr. Corps were doing, but Bush did an amazing job with it. I loved it. One of my all time favorite Shows. Crossmen also did First Circle in the late 80's if I recall. I had the vhs tape somewhere.
Of these two, it's Crossmen, hand's-down. The isolated exposure demanded so much focus and control of all of the musicians, and the guard had some great moments. But...it's moot without '85 BD in the conversation...
BD '85 had an amazing hornline and one of my favorite shows but, I think Crossmen did a version I liked better. I saw this live at Finals so maybe I'm a little biased and, I saw PM live in January of 1998 so I was really stoked to see this show.
I think anyone who hears the original for the first time ends up at the end 😮 Subsequent listening are equally stunning. There’s a reason it’s widely covered.
@@maxalain9948 fyi Max......I made that St. Anthony's comment because I actually marched with St. Anthony's Imperials from 1977 to 1988 when we folded as a Unit not to compete anymore......we Marched to FIRST CIRCLE 87' and 88'.....Good luck to you my friend!
Seriously? There’s a question of which of these two was better? One you can actually hear the music and the other covers a weaker hornlne with a WGI show.
Prefer the preservation of the melody by the first corps to the theatrics and total melodic disruption of the second. Hard to even tell I’m listening to First Circle half the time with Corps #2

1998 Crossmen, all day (no theatrics, just music) [FMM Cavaliers '77-87]
Who needs TLC when I've got max Alain over here teaching me how many corps played [insert music tittle here]
Aw yeah, I'm supplanted... somebody.
1985 Blue Devils. It was loud. The drill was tough. It was the reason this RUclips video can be seen.
Word brother.

Crossmen made me cry. They win.
Crossmen hands down! Who cares who did it 1st? Crossmen did best Pat Metheny in 1991, one of my all time favorite shows of any corps!
No way. Nobody can compare to the blue devil hornline.
Crossmen for the win!
Crossmen captured the essence better!
In the first one, the trumpets have chops. In the second one, everyone has chops.
The ending was epic until the last note. Felt like it got cut off.
For me, Blue Knights Visually but Crossmen musically
Pat THE G.O..A.T!!!
What about the Mandarins Drum Corps? They did it as well and from what I remember it was a very nice arrangement too!!
I can't decide which is better. I think both are good. First of all, I love this song😍
Drum Corp or Winter Guard is irrelevant: St. Anthony's Imperials of Everett Mass was the first to introduce "First Circle" WGI Dayton OH - 1986
Very epic. Those fellas did the right thing cuz I love this song
@@maxalain9948 who are the "fellas" lol

God I love this song
It’d be real cool (but impossible) if the audience clapped correctly too lmao
Fuckin same, mate.
CROSSMEN every time. Including the Blue Devils

What are the corps & years of these shows?
Crossmen 1998 and Blue Knights 2013
Crossmen. BK more talented. Crossmen + arrangement & achievement. Love Bocook but BK HL held back and let pit carry spots X-men HL played through.
both kinda sucked give 85 bd version.
