I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

I hope new listeners to Sohyang don't think she's all about high notes with these kind of videos. I've said it all the time: *_singing isn't just about techniques, and techniques isn't just about hitting high notes._*
Yes, her high notes are insane, and yes, her near flawless techniques make vocal pedagogy communities go nuts with praises, and she will be remembered as one of the all time greats by future generations of experts and enthusiasts alike. However, if one wants to understand the essence of Sohyang, listen/watch her entire performances.
Pay attention to the lyrics and high notes, low notes, dynamics being used to convey the message of her songs. Feel how she injects emotions, whichever that may be, into her notes, to communicate and connect with other fellow human beings, which is us the audience in this case.
Once you've accomplished that, learn who she is as a person, her history, what she had been through, what kind a person she is. You will understand you are witnessing of unique, beautiful, one of a kind artist, nay, person. You are in the presence of greatness.

This video is great, but so much of what So Hyang brings to a performance is lost by cutting it into small clips. She chooses such beautiful and emotional songs to sing, and she works to arrange them so carefully, they are best appreciated watching the full songs!

Clips can capture technical proficiency but don't capture the musicality, which is also a skill in singing.

This woman right here is a top 5 vocalist of all time and currently the best singer in the world and I will forever believe it. I’d give you more So Hyang suggestions but every performance of hers is incredible so please just react to every single one. (Actually please react to “Everyone” by her because it’s incredible and her best performance in my opinion)

Ghy Huh I can see why. So Hyang used pretty much every skill she has in that performance. I’ve also heard her say that “Bridge Over Troubled Water” is one of her most challenging songs too.

@@rva go for her "Hug Me" for starters. She performed 8 (or 9 i think) songs on King of Masked Singers. Most if not all are masterpieces! You can find two vids of hers singing Hug Me. One with mask on and the other without. Looking forward!

She was the first ranked woman in King of masked singer and then Seung Yeon broke her record being first among women and second among everyone. Son Seung Yeon is as increadable as Sohyang. She is second best vocalist in Asia. Please react to her song.😊

I remember when you reacted to Bridge over troubled water you got emotional. Please do a full video reaction to "Breathe" on King of Masked Singer. Use the vimeo version with subtitles. It's a Korean song but you will be filled with rollercoaster of emotions. Take care.
If you can find a link, and it may be a still pic with the audio playing, but I think there is one video still out there of Day Day, the rap song. Boy that took me while to spit that out didn't it..lol. Anyway, that rap sing just shows that she can do anything. She does not do traditional rap in momno tone, but she ads a note for every word, and it is sooo fast and so accurate with each note, its insane.
Her mooooost hardeeest (for emphasizing purposes) vocals is a gospel song remake of "Everyone" so please please PLEASE react to it. It's here in youtube

I am actually kinda sad that you reacted to this compilation of her performances in King Of Mask Singers first. The compilation is great for diehard fans like myself, who have watched these songs umpteen times. Yes, I watched the actual episodes many times as I love to hear the panelists comment about her performances.
However, this compilation does no justice to each of her songs. The songs are quite different and you must listen through the whole song individually to understand the true beauty of each rearranged cover. All of these songs are epic.

Agreed. It's not just about the high notes. Sure, Sohyang is a high soprano, but what makes her a great vocalist is how she masterfully handles her whole vocal range.

please take a look at EXID's Solji's "Maria" on Masked Singer! She is one of the best female main vocals in K-pop! You can also look at her other performances. She has a lot of emotion in her voice, and she just recovered from thyroid disease a few months ago. Please check her out!
I think Sohyang's performances in KOMS are really something.. I mean she always delivers shocks with her incredible vocal techniques and deep emotions, but in KOMS, she tried really different things even in her such bad health. I hope you can can check them:)
I highly recommend "dear love", "breathe", and "Home". Please watch them with english subtitles!
I have links to 3 30 minute or so videos with English subs of So Hyang on a talk show where she talks about her life, and they show her at home. If you would like the links and see what she eats for her voice, which is a shock, but she makes it for the person filming who asked.
