- Dalmore is often overlooked by many enthusiasts due to high prices, low abv and many other things. This brand new 14 year old is bottled at 43.8% ABV and really stands out as the Best Value ($90) retail in their core range!!
Awesome as always review! I'm a big fan of Dalmore. Besides being a beautiful scotch, the bottle is pretty cool looking. Thanks for sharing with us- cheers from Miami
Thank you! They prob have the nicest looking bottle honestly. Cheers Chris!!!
Great review!
Thanks VV
I would love to watch you analyzing the King Alexander III. Cheers!!!
I unfortunately do not have a bottle right now
Sound good. I purchased the 12 Sherry select for about $65 and I thought it was good value.
Ya it is and I think this one is def better than that one
Just bought this a few weeks ago I love the dark chocolate finish. Last dram I had wasn’t so tasty I don’t know if air is a factor but I’m guessing it was just my palette and what I ate during the day.
Nice!! Sounds like you went through the bottle fairly fast. Ya couple def be what you are that day. Happens to me too
Pedro Himinethhhhhh.
Got that accent down, pat.
lol
What a great review. One thing is so obvious is your TOTALLY unbiased and honest perspective, like a lot of so called whisky you tube reviewers.
Thank you Cliff!!
Nice to see Dalmore putting out good whisky🙂 I am completely in love with their bottles, though the whisky doesn't always match the price tag.
I hear you. I really think this one is the best value in the range
I’ve never really understood the wave of hatred that many RUclipsrs seem to post about Dalmore. Yes, pricing is quite high but is quite favorably priced in relation to the Macallan core range of 12, 15, and 18. The color does look very false in the bottle but looks so much better and more natural in the glass. In a blind tasting the Dalmore expressions do very well.
Gripe with Dalmore overall is the low abv and high prices here in Ontario, Canada at the LCBO.
Keep the reviews rolling!
I hear you Will. This one was a nice step up from the usual core range in my opinion. Cheers!
Just saw it in store store today and bought it , along with a 12 yr sherry Dalmore.
Never heard of it but love Dalmore so got it and popped on RUclips to see what it is. Looking forward to trying even more now.
Those 2 are my fav for the money in the dalmore lineup
When I first started with scotch, Dalmore was my go to. After I got deeper into whisky I largely abandoned Dalmore. Low ABV, obscene prices, filtering and coloring etc. Just not something I’m willing to spend on any longer. The 12 Sherry Cask Select and the Port Wood Reserve are the only two I’d still buy.
I hear you Marcus. The 12 sherry select was a nice surprise but this one was even a nicer one. Cheers!
Dalmore gets a bad name from a lot of the new RUclipsrs trying the entry level offerings, seeing the high prices of the really high end stuff and dismissing the distillery. As Mike said recently they produce amazing spirit and some of their limited offerings have been stunning. Not sure if you got them in the States but the Castle Mackenzie, Leod and Cromartie bottles were excellent.
Yes been fortunate enough to try many higher end Dalmores, including the first cask strength 50 year old (our first review). Unfortunately most people wont get to try the higher end stuff where this Distillery shines. Cheers!
I really like the Quartet, from the travel retail
Bought Dalmore 14 for a bottle exchange with my bro's and damn it's so good I wished it was mine. I'll need to get a bottle for myself.
Great review! Picked up this bottle when I first heard it was available. My first Dalmore in the cabinet as well as my first PX casking. It is a great dram! Such an outstanding value when compared to $120 for the 15yo. Cheers!🥃
Yes, it def stands out in the range!! Cheer!
Just ordered a bottle. How does it compare to the Cigar Malt?
They both have higher abv but I think this one delivers better quality. Hope you agree. Cheers
I was also really curious about that comparison as the Cigar Malt is going for about $180 in my area of SoCal, versus $100 for this new 14.
I want to like Dalmore, but their just to damn soft with a low abv and overpriced. I have the 18 yr, tried others and their just OK. All Dalmore's should start at 48%. I would love to try a cask strength without out breaking the bank. Potential is their, they just don't do it for some reason. Great review.
I totally get it Keith and honestly im not a big fan of the 18. This new 14 beats it in my opinion. Thanks bud!
@@maltreviews Good to know. I'll try a pour at the bar. Thanks
A dalmore worth buying? I'll have to pick one up :)
LOL, Hopefully its a good price by you
Don't over analyze with nonsense. The Dalmore 14 is smooth, relaxed, not harsh. Don't let the low avb fool you, the flavor is there not covered by a heavy bite.
Wonder how much these will be sold here. Dalmore kinda pricey dor what it is definitely.
Hopefully not too much
For me the 15 is worth most
Just picked it up for 79.00
Nice!
Meant to say Unlike..........
I figured. Thank bud!
Bro your full of beans.
