Love how you mentioned the fill near the end of the song 8:03 (that is not in the original version) because I was there when they played this song live for the first time with Kai (NyC 2015), and when he did that fill at the end, Tuomas just turned his head back to Kai and had a huge grin on his face. To which Kai just nodded at him with a wink and they both just laughed while finishing the song. Great memories... Great video, thanks for sharing!

My God, I respect EVERY drummer cause it is insane for me how you guys can play drumms! I could never! I played keyboard and guitar but Drumms are just soooo hard for me! Kai is great ♥
Im just amazed that they have two such excellent drummers in Finland and that both of them play or have played in Nightwish is insane.
I have followed Nightwish since the beginning and I think that the Nightwish we have today is the best on all levels.

Very interesting breakdown and analysis of this song and Kai's amazing playing techniques. I have always thought that Kai was much more technical on the drums. People just love Jukka and his performance style. Kai is a monster and has not been fully challenged playing for Nightwish. Are you a personal friend? If so it would be great to see you do a video with Kai. You could talk and ask him some drum questions and we could get to know him a little better. He doesn't get the press like Marco, Floor, and Tuomas. Do you tour with a band? Great job on this one. Peace.

I met Kai first at the wembley 2018 show, from there we spoke about drum lessons etc and I eventually flew to finland the following September, it really was great. I’ve been back numerous times since then and I would say we have a strong relationship.
There’s more Kai content coming soon, and I’ll be back in finland soon, depending on this covid situation!
@@zypherdrums8102 Lucky man. You must be damn good yourself for Kai to offer to pass on some tips and techniques. He seems like a very good man and his drumming skills are off the charts. I am a guitarist, but very much appreciate a great drummer. Without a great drummer all music is flat and lifeless. they don't get enough credit from the fans and media. It seems you have to be a musician to really understand and appreciate how crucial the engine is in music. I will watch for the next one. BTW, I have been to Scotland many times and I really love the country and the people. I am also quite a history buff when it comes to all things Scottish. Peace.
Kai is ir was the drummer of wintersum . Agree, more tech than the old one.
Kai is one of the best drummers I have ever heard and seen, his work on Time II by Wintersun, just out a couple of weeks, is outstanding.

Finnish metal is the best metal of the world. Just like bands like a Wintersun, Children Of Bodom, Nightwish, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Evil Drive, Battle Beast, Beast In Black, Sinergy, Norther, Impaled Nazarene, Warmen, Elias "Evil" Viljanen, HIM, Apocalyptica, Tarot, Thunderstone, Swallow The Sun, The 69 Eyes, Insomnium, Raskasta Joulua, Jarkko Ahola, Sentenced, Turisas, Stam1na, Hevisaurus, Brother Firetribe, Kenziner, Tarja Turunen. etc... Yes, as much as I love Jukka, I find myself completely bedazzled by Kai. He is SO solid and relentless, you could build a castle on what he does. And he SMILES gently, calmly. He does as little as possible to attract attention to himself. I wondered about that, until I saw an interview he did, explaining his experience. He was a WEDDING band drummer! Of course!!!! Which would have been like making Secretariat be a cart horse.

I love jukka. But kai is one fantastic drummer. Both are the best of drummer's. Thanks for sharing. Nothing like listening to good drummer's. There's one thing for sure you don't get tired of watching them and the sounds they can do with there magic.
Hi! I agree with you on Jukka, it's a dream of the hardcore NW Army that never will happen so it would be best if they just forget it. I also fully agree that we should look at what we have now with Kai and what he is doing for NW and be thankful for that. Yes, Jukka was a great showman and very expressive in his moves and all that, have seen in another reaction video (Metal Band Reacts! Suite Clarity) that he is sitting very low down and his left hi-hat is almost at the same level as his head. With Kai, you have to read him in a different way compared to Jukka. If you look at Kai's face - have you ever seen someone look so happy when he is banging away on his drums? When he get that "Game-Face" on with the open mouth, it radiates happiness of him.
I banged in a link to your channel on a discord I'm in, and right away another member asked is you have done any Meshuggah. I have looked at your videos and I can't find any Meshuggah there, so I'll bang in a link to a drum cam video of Tomas Haake playing "Bleed". Apparently, according to the discord member, a lot of drummers have not been able to explain what he is doing, but maybe you can figure it out.

I'm not a musician so I have no clue of what they are so mystified of. The High Speed Gallop from 6:38 maybe? It doesn't sound all that strange to me, having listened to what the Unleash The Archers' drummer Scott Buchanan is doing in "Awakening", with the difference that Tomas Haake is doing in twice as fast. But then again, I'm not a musician so I can very well not be anywhere near the same ballpark as everyone else. Cheers / B.
Not to throw shade at Jukka - but Kai is a just a much better drummer - his timekeeping is better, his technique is better, he is all around a step up.
I recommend to have a listen on YT a group called Darkwoods My Betrothed, album 2021 Angel of Carnage Unleashed. Tuomas Holopainen rejoined and brought Kai Hahto to join this band on their latest album and Kao Hahto was unleashed, literally.
You should check the video's when he is playing in his former band Wintersun :)

What fans are missing with Jukka is the showmanship. Kai is a just a superior drummer, but he is not very flashy. Best is when you get a drummer that can do both, but those are rare birds indeed.

Kai is incredibly tactical in hes work with the drums, just take a look in the band wintersun he played before and you'll understand 😉 Hes a talent and he wouldn't joint Nightwish if he wouldn't enjoy it.
Some people seem to be mixing Kai's very efficient playing style as "not emotional enough". Jukka used to swing much more to play the same hits. Some call it showmanship and it does look great but doesn't change the actual playing.
If I were to say something critical about Kai, it would be that he's playing too perfectly and it may sound too clinical in some situations. Ever so slight variantions/errors in tempo or hit volume would make it appear more human-like. He's not called human metronome for no reason.
There is a big difference how Jukka and Kai played. It was 2015 in Qstock, Anette was replaced with Floor, I listened and thought ok, not bad. But, what were happening on the drums, they doesn't heard right? I haven't heard about the drummer been changed, but from the first song i heard there is BIG difference there is someone else on the drums! No, this doesn't sound right, no, the whole rythm is different!

I did kind of like Jukka tho. There was just something about him that appealed to me. I liked the way he sat down at the drums like he was strapping himself to a rocket. Kai is of course good. You can't be in Nightwish and not be good.
Man, Nightwish fandom discussions about band members always devolve into straight BS, they all great, Tuomas and the rest have had an amazing luck finding new members.

Old Nightwish fans have alots of nonsense like said Tarja are better than Floor. For me its a pure nonsende. Floor have the full package . The most versatile singer in the world , Opera,metal,pop,growlcharisma .The best female singer i ever see. Tarja are only opera. She was a ok singer
