for the final build is it worth taking improved shadowbolt instead of bane? as we crit a lot this should improve drain life dmg/healing and ofc improve the next shadow cleave.. just a thought :D
Exactly what I was thinking! I'm using a similar build. Soul fire is lvl 48 and while in meta shadow cleave is instant, so those points should probably go to improved shadow bolt.

I was running full damage. The first build shown in this video. Also I am running full damage gear, I wouldn’t suggest anyone run ANY tanks specific gear especially with the ability to swap runes into a way tanker spec. Obviously we don’t want to run irradiated set tho.
Ummm... yes! But if you want good damage make sure you keep LOF. Also a support warlock is 100% viable where we also take ISB to boost our Spriest bois.

Loving meta tanking so far. First time ever being a tank actually. Question, do you use a low rank rain of fire and just cancel and proceed to spam searing pain? OR do you usually fullcast highest rank rain of fire?
If you want maximum survivability, just choose master channeler. I don't quite like Demonic Grace since it consumes one GCD and lasts a very short period (like 2 hits from a boss). You should use the GCDs doing a tank's job instead of gaining such a short buff. Also I tested, it does not boost your spell's crit.
Nice video, but isn't it better to grab demonic embrace over improved imp? Since the threat on your imp doesn't affect your own threat either way and even with only 3/5 it's a whooping 9% extra stamina

Down to Siphon life I got night fall which you can drop meta when it procs if to throw out a bolt but usually don't buy in PVP might be useful to drop meta and fear and throw a nightfall bolt playing with ideas that utilize coming in and out of meta

I haven't done much at 40 yet, but Affliction felt amazing while leveling with siphon life, improved damage to dots, improved curses for sticky situations, and so much self-healing. I was able to run my guild mates through dungeons our level with 4 dps while still doing top damage or a very close 2nd.

Play style and the need for movement can often make these meta ideas fairly redundant. The flexibility to change talents currently relies on you having plenty of gold to pay for such changes. I'm not saying these builds are terrible but I'm playing 17/3/11 which I regard as half-way to the classic SM/Ruin build we all know so well. For me the runes augment the knowledge we already have. That's what I love about it and anyone who thinks they can't enjoy affliction and succeed with it because 10 streamers, many using simulations, say destro is best should get off youtube or twitch and start playing the game. Now I'm just a crusty old bugger who mained warlock since 2006 and I'm kinda set in my ways. I just think the reality completely screws with the theory for most players once you get in front of bosses. Anyhow, play as you wish folks. Cheers.
I honestly think it's fight specific. I think aff can compete on menagerie and the last boss. Keep dots rolling on all 4 targets and do big damage in menagerie. Then for thermaplugg the boss is constantly moving so it's pretty hard to keep a good rain of fire without constantly refreshing it and burning through all your mana, and you're doing so much running to buttons and target swapping to bombs that hard casting 2.5 sec chaos bolts is kinda rough. I can imagine being able to throw up dots and then run around would be pretty nice. I have a bunch of plus fire gear but I would swap for those fights if we had duel spec.

Better to drop Incinerate for Pact if you're in a heavy caster build.. Incin isn't needed at all.

Sure if you want more health instead of damage 100%. Thats what is great about meta you can make those small choices and its all g :)

My favorite thing is demonic grace plus shadow cleave to proc imp shadow bolt on up to 3 mobs is pretty sweet
