+ClaytonFilpo My absolute favorite part about Marine Bootcamp is when they meet the Senior DI and his three "Pitbulls" Its that shudder of "Oh shit..." as the SDI calmly snaps his fingers and the three Junior DI's snap into action like Pitbulls breaking away from their chains.
They want you to be impressed by that......they want that fear, because now they have your full attention. I was a Navy Corpsman for the Corps (greenside) for 7 years. I know guys (good and bad) who were DI's. Some get a huge chubby from all that power and God Status DI's have....it's a HUGE ego thing for many who wear the "smoky bear". Others just want to train you and get you through it. DI's aren't "super-Marines"......they applied, were accepted, and got through the DI school/course. There are a lot of DI's who were truck drivers or supply folks.....both are important jobs, but they aren't all that special in the scope of the entire Corps.
Touching your face at MCRD is probably THE worst thing you can do. If you absolutely have to, make sure you're not in formation and use the collar of your blouse where the chevrons go to scratch
I remember on graduation day I had horse fly biting into the back of my head while we're getting ready to march. It was fucking hell knowing I had to take it.
Adam Espinosa well its YOUR uniform you earned at that point, so you can wear it whenever you want. but having to wear it every day... your gonna get sick of it lol
You are permitted to wear your dress uniform anytime any place except to something like a political rally or to somewhere that could present the military in a bad way.
I just had 2 questions I'd thought I'd ask what about the bed making part if you mess up do you get yelled at by 3 drill sergeants. question 2 when it comes to taking your gun apart and cleaning it do they help you out if you need a little extra help or how would that turn out. (curious)
They also don't officially choke you with your dogtags or slam your M-16 into your head while at shoulder arms or make you do pushups in the shower after they've poured ammonia on the floor. It's really just a nice vacation. They let you play with kittens and draw pictures of rainbows and shit.
When I went to Boot Camp in San Diego I remember the guys getting off 1st to go to the Marines (I was in the Navy) and the yelling as they left the bus. Also, I remember being told that we were the Last group of guys to have to do 12weeks of Boot Camp 'cause the following guys were only going to have to do 9weeks and we all said "Shit, we are so Lucky...NOT!" ha ha. Oh yea, I remember when we got our 1st liberty and a big Pink Bus with Girls in it came to pick us up and take us all to a local Strip Club. Man, we were Animals! Then I got my orders to go to Vietnam, Man that's a whole other story.
Anon Nymous but I heard it was better to volunteer for a job you most likely won't get. For example, if My contract is 0311 but I truly wanted to go recon or MARSOC then wouldn't I volunteer for recon instead of signing a contract for recon just in case I didn't pass the training they wouldn't place me in some Shitty job I never signed up for ?
I wouldve suggested maybe Combat engineers but most just end up as Heavy equipment operators, they're a great group of guys though. I served in a Task Force that I volunteered for and 2nd CEB hosted us. If it's not too late maybe you can change your MOS field. I'm pretty sure if you do well as a grunt you'll have opportunities to get into MARSOC just stay in good shape and lift weight etc.
HOLY SHIT! The black SSgt. at the end of this video is SSgt Jackson. He rotated out of receiving and into my company, Golf Company. Hell of a drill instructor! Semper Fi! G/2150/20161209
Shaving the hair and beard also goes back to historical warfare with lice issues and hand-to-hand combat issues for hundreds (if not thousands) of years.
I don't think that's why they shave it haha.... To me it's because everyone's equal to who you're working with, so everyone shaves their head. An when I was a kid I used to think they would do that so you won't sweat that much while out in war, or get in your way, an won't get lice. Mainly I would think though because of the heat.
jason200912 it's gonna be different for everybody. My drill instructors told us to shut the fuck up if we sneezed lol! And all you can say is Aye Sir lol! So much more I would've liked to say
The mental b.s. And not in the way of it being challenging on your knowledge. It's having to do something 100 times over because 1 kid in the platoon is too stupid to do it right.
In Finnish Defense Force that I served in as military police we were allowed to ask "why we have to do this?" and got explanation without any yelling etc, just straight answer
hell yeah shit gets repetative. I was in MCRD PI Golf Company platoon 2076, Jul-Oct 2016. one morning my kill hat had our platoon getting dressed and undressed for 1 1/2 hours (no bull shit)
Being that I am an older individual, and been through my service, I clicked on this video to see some memories TBH. It is good that you post these types of videos. Joining any branch of service is a major decision, that gives one a rude awakening once you arrive, and realize that you are not the one in charge anymore lol. Good Job Soldier!
Do you think wrestling ever helped you out in boot camp? Like cutting weight in wrestling deals with mental strength. So like did it somewhat assist you in any way? This is dead ass, I wanna know.
When my younger brother was in AF boot camp, his senior MTI liked making the flight feel guilty if a recruit didn't pay attention to detail. He'd say things like, "Are you trying to get other Airmen killed?"
My father was Navy, 2 brothers AF, another a Marine and myself was Army. Yes the Marines yell more but after boot camp did that really come into play? Ever? Absolutely not. I understand it all has a purpose but not all purposes are important. We got sick in the Army but i'll tell you, best thing to clear that phlegm was the runs, cleared it right up, that and the chamber.
Thank god I have PT with my recruiter every Tuesday and Thursday. Myself and a bunch of other poolees have this shit embedded in our heads. I still have a long way to go with training and conditioning until I ship out this fall, but I'm working hard.
I'm 16 and planning on joining the Marines, and I just wanted to say thanks for all the effort you've put into educating people about joining the Marines. I've been watching your videos for a few years now and it's really helped my understanding of how things work. Also, I'm not sure if you know anything about this, but could you do a video on the Presidential Guard? A friend of a friend was in the Presidential Guard. It sounds interesting, and is a huge honor of course. Lastly, you've probably answered this a thousand times, but when is a good time to talk to a recruiter? As I said, I'm 16 and plan on joining when I'm 18 or 19
Hey dude! Thanks for the kind words. I can look into the presidential guard, but I don't know too much about it. The best time to talk to a recruiter is when you turn 17. That's when they can legally speak to you and start getting you ready for the Marines.
I'm 17 and interested in joining the military, but I'm fat. Will that stop me from being able to enlist. If I cut weight and I go to basic, is it possible to fail? What is BMI, etc.
Just eat right portion everything use a smaller plate. Eat fresh popcorn without butter or anything as a snack. RUN. If your joining the marine corps just RUN I'm not sure about other branches but during DEP for PT we run a lot so run before u enlist so u can keep up
+lauren Evanovich Yeah man, just run everyday, and get on a good diet. Ive been in the DEP since November 1st, and I struggle every time we PT, the only thing that's hard for me is running, because I never did it, all I did was lift weights before.
I hate it when I don't understand the reasoning behind things. I'm not going to join the military or anything... but it is interesting to see why things happen they way they happen
my first guess for the not touching your face was so when you go to the gas chamber things you have it in your head to not touch your face so then you wont get all the OC on your face like a week later because you forgot to wash your clothes
Haha Im still a poole but I totally get the repetitiveness. Its kinda funny to me because I dont mind but when I look at others they hate it and it makes me laugh. Im actually about to leave for PT.
Hey Clayton you might not see this, but I want to thank you for all of the informational videos you've done. Pretty sure I've watched them all, and they helped me make a final decision to join the Marine Corps. I went to MEPS, swore myself in, and I'm now in the DEP. I'll be shipped off to boot camp in September. Again, thank you very much and Semper Fi
I got yelled at all the time for the face thing. What sucked though is that it was only ever to push my portholes back on my face. they had to special order mine so I was stuck with my shit civilian ones, and I wasn't allowed to wear the straps because they cut my face. Eventually I had to rely on the A frame on my rifle to push them back up.
Not gonna lie, from what I heard from my friend and you, USMC boot camp sounds very similar to how it was for USCG. Only difference is that ours is a month shorter.
The 1st phase recruit is the lowest life form known to man. I was U.S. Navy Hospital Corps at MCRD Parris Island and used to laugh and cringe simultaneously watching 1st and 2nd phase recruits get the word.
I agree all the yelling is to get you used to working in stressful conditions...I'm Navy but can tell you I worked in Combat Info Center off the coast of Vietnam...very stressful place. But my training in boot camp really helped me, I kept my head and did my job.
i simply love how people, especially people my age say our generation is all about "me me me" when if you actually take the time to look it up, literally every single generation went through the same exact thing where everyone else said the "youngest generation" was the most self centered ever
82 guys from many states WILL get germs and sick. It's normal boot life. As a Medic, I gave out bicillin shots and we could not sit down on that butt lump for a couple weeks. Great time and camaraderie! Everyone should do Boot Camp.
Of course your gonna get throat punched if you call a SEARGANT a SIR... He is gonna start asking ya if he kooks like an officer and then he will provceed to throat punched you
Personally I really want to become a Marine I'm a sophomore RN but also I want to become CHP/Cali highway patrol, but I know if I do CHP first I won't be able to do Marines but if I go into the marines I have a chance of not going into the CHP, but also if I go into the CHP I will feel guilty for not joining my brothers and sisters defending our nation from the outside not just inside😩this is the most stressful thoughts that go through my mind, what do you think dudes?!
ahh to be a rainbow flighter again. I went through air force BMT in 09. flight 239 of the 320th. man that was a tough squadron. biggest issue I had, was the BMT plague we all got. it was deep lung infection. made Running in the cold hell. Also the food. it's bland tasteless and not enough calories to get you through the day. By week 4 your gonna be a string bean with near no body fat and always hungry and cranky.
Honestly looks like a lot of this is simply redundant nowadays. Mopping floor for the 10th time won't make you a better soldier, just a janitor. Thou I still don't envy any drill instructor his job. Having to de facto babysit a throng of college aged kids.
One thing about the yelling... Personally, I would just get mad... Like really fucking mad if someone straight up screamed at me and was all up in my face. Has anyone actually told an instructor to fuck off because of that? I can handle pressure and everything, but I find the yelling to be soooo disrespectful that I can easily see myself punching one of them just out of sheer anger...
Obviously you've never been to Army boot. We yelled so much that I got so used to it and was speaking extremely loud on my first leave, my mother thought I was yelling at her. In the Army you pay for that first hair cut, not only that but, if you shaved your head prior to getting there, they re-shave you and you pay for it anyway. It also gets rid of any head lice some people might have. The only ones who wore shoes in basic were the sick calls. We got our boots on day 1. We had to wear our helmet liners until after we went to qualify at the range. Yes that was before the Kevlar helmets. Basic for the Navy and Air Force I can't speak on because I wasn't there, I wouldn't even venture to speak on the Marines because I wasn't there. You shouldn't venture to guess what goes on in Army basic if you weren't there. Trust and believe what we did was just as hard, monotonous and stressful as what you describe. Let's not even go to the 5 minute meals if you were lucky enough not to screw up. The doing things over and over until perfection didn't stop at perfection, it continued until it became muscle memory, so you didn't have to even see what you were doing and it was still perfection. Lacing of the boots was completely different for the male and female, male was right over left and female was left over right. Never assume something you don't know, it could get your platoon killed.
The thing about wearing shoes your first phase is practically the same in the Air Force. Week one we have to wear what we called the "BMT 11's", which were the new balance shoes if you didn't already bring running shoes and we were called "sneaker weekers." You could tell what week of training someone was in just by looking at them because something about their appearance changes every week.
James T43 yelling in the Army might be better than what it seems but it is in no way on par with the discipline of the Marine Corps. I've seen way more undisciplined soldiers than I have Marines. not to mention you can use your phone in Army Basic. Maybe you went in a different time, but now the army basic isn't at all what it used to be.
i have been in 2 different services 4 years each and i agree to some degree..in the army if you want to find the same yelling level then you have to join the infantry because army has different levels of intensity based on what job you are going in for.
Oh man, what about the nose pickers??? Hi and tight for the rest of your life/and being a team player really sucks when all you got is polocks and idiots. Best thing about boot camp, don't get noticed. Be just a face in the background.
Also I know for the hair cut for the army because I'm in an army JROTC and for drill and ceremonies it is for consistency because once you start marching the Drill Sargent starts deducting points

He sounds like Jonah Hill lol
Holy shit, he does tho.
I've been watching this guy for a while and now I cant unhear it.
God uses drill Sargents to guard demons in hell.
and marines don't die. they go to hell and regroup.
dude dudeson regrouping at camp?
Storytime626 Drill Sergeant* and marines don't even have Drill Sergeant's, they have Drill Instructors.
Storytime626 kill hats are the demons in hell. they just come out of hibernation to make devil dogs
Makes the demons do push ups and jumping jacks
Touching your face at MCRD is probably THE worst thing you can do. If you absolutely have to, make sure you're not in formation and use the collar of your blouse where the chevrons go to scratch
YES. Perfect advice^
I acted like I coughed, those sand fleas are a bitch

Lmao. "Your gonna get thought punched if you do that"
Thought punched hahahhahahahahahahahaha
He meant to say Ninja Punch NJP- None Judicial Punishment.
@@Texasmilitarydepartmentvid9654 bud. Your 3 years late to tell me that
Can you explain when its appropriate to use your uniforms in public like funerals, weddings, dates, ect.
Absolutely. I'm getting a ton of uniform questions. I'm planning on making an entire series about it.
Oh snap you actually replied! Thanks for all the videos about the Core you've been a huge help for me and my friend that want to join.
Adam Espinosa well its YOUR uniform you earned at that point, so you can wear it whenever you want. but having to wear it every day... your gonna get sick of it lol

officially: no. Unofficially.....

Brandon BP you actually don't get choked with dog tags because you don't get dog tags until the last night of boot
Ray, we had dogtags the whole time, noob.
Hahha. Did you? And what company were you in?
When I went to Boot Camp in San Diego I remember the guys getting off 1st to go to the Marines (I was in the Navy) and the yelling as they left the bus. Martin Sage thank you for your service sir-C/2nd Lt Price
Martin Sage what a cool ass story
I'd love to hear your Vietnam stories man. Thank you kindly for your service by the way!
another reason why you can't touch your face is because you get pink eye
Lee Christmas That also happens when I eat ass
Infantigo
Another thing to remember: Never volunteer for ANYTHING! I learned that the hard way.
hahah YES
Anon Nymous but I heard it was better to volunteer for a job you most likely won't get. For example, if My contract is 0311 but I truly wanted to go recon or MARSOC then wouldn't I volunteer for recon instead of signing a contract for recon just in case I didn't pass the training they wouldn't place me in some Shitty job I never signed up for ?

Diego Nava Well, I'm specifically talking about Basic. When it comes to MOS, aim high!
Dosent matter if you volunteer anything or not oventuly you get voluntold.
"How much more nonsense can I put up with before I go insane?" Perfect way to put it.
HOLY SHIT! The black SSgt. at the end of this video is SSgt Jackson. He rotated out of receiving and into my company, Golf Company. Hell of a drill instructor! Semper Fi! G/2150/20161209

Slime Ball haha hell ya bro. The weak are meat on the table!
hahaha what the whattttttttt
*They also shave your hair so you don't tangle your hair in some weeds or barbed wire*
Snoop Cat what about girls they don't shave their head
Succ thats cuz you dont wanna stare at a bald girls ass duuuuhhh
Shaving the hair and beard also goes back to historical warfare with lice issues and hand-to-hand combat issues for hundreds (if not thousands) of years.
Mindraker1 facial hair goes for us because we need an air tight seal around our gasmasks...
When you walk in and it's the moment of truth: I TOUCHED MY FACE ONCE!
These are all the guys I graduated boot camp with. So funny to see their faces in this. Good advice for them too
There's only really 3 boot camps for US military. Marines, Army, and Coast Guard. Other two are summer camps
What do you mean
MrAVENGER901 it's a joke
ohhh fuck you lol
No I wanna know if navy bootcamp wont be a bitch
anything thats easy isn't worth doing
"Don't touch your fucking face you weirdo"
what's the punishment for sneezing or coughing while a drill instructor is talking?
nothing if youre not being obnoxious about it
dont sneeze or cough into your hand do it into your shoulder
jason200912 On your face, maggot!!! Ah, memories... 👍🇺🇸
jason200912 it's gonna be different for everybody. My drill instructors told us to shut the fuck up if we sneezed lol! And all you can say is Aye Sir lol! So much more I would've liked to say
jason200912 good!!he wants to cough. everyone empty your pockets outside ready move!
What happens if you yawn, I have a yawning problem, I yawn a lot and my eyes year when I yawn
Thanks for the advice I leave in 40 days

That really isn't the biggest concern these days.
It's to make everyone the same
Who cares i like my head shaved it fills good and cuts back on me sweating my ass off.

ClaytonFilpo amazing man.
I ship out July 17th to Bootcamp. What's the hardest thing about Bootcamp on your opinion?
The mental b.s.
And not in the way of it being challenging on your knowledge. It's having to do something 100 times over because 1 kid in the platoon is too stupid to do it right.
ClaytonFilpo i actually just talked to marines who got done at bootcamp who told me the same thing about not scratching your face because your dirty
Filpo is 10/10 trustworthy
ClaytonFilpo good vid Clayton. thnx
In Finnish Defense Force that I served in as military police we were allowed to ask "why we have to do this?" and got explanation without any yelling etc, just straight answer
Same in Germany. imho THAT makes better soldiers, better NCOs and better officers.
wait, so your telling me i can't play fortnite at bootcamp
hell yeah shit gets repetative. I was in MCRD PI Golf Company platoon 2076, Jul-Oct 2016. one morning my kill hat had our platoon getting dressed and undressed for 1 1/2 hours (no bull shit)
Yep. Exactly^^
We need to send all rappers to bootcamp.

Nice, especially the summary regarding how it's more mental than anything else.
I always thought they get pissed at you touching your face because it exhibits a lack of discipline, especially in formation and stuff?
Does it matter if you yell? Because i don't have a loud voice
yes. they want you to yell or at least try
jetairliner spartan Put it this way, no matter how hard or loud you scream, it'll never be enough for them. Haha!
they told me i'm going to be eaten there, i don't have a loud voice, they -_- a guy tried to make me scream, it wasn't that loud
9 months later, but use your diaphragm to project your voice and breathe.
Yup when ones in your face you better talk loud enough
I'm touching my face right now. Well actually I'm touching my goatee LOL
Bloodmane1987 lmfao 😂😂😂
ha! ballface!
If you lose your voice will you get in trouble for not yelling??
good stuff man I head into bootcamp the 12th Dec.
The American patriot hey good luck brother. I'm about to become a poolee and I leave right outta high school
Carlos Rojo a Poolee is just a motivated civilian haha, but boot camp will take that away.
twopoint Takedown you become a poolee after you swear in at meps. which I would be enlisted already but wouldn't be a marine until after boot
Carlos Rojo I'm aware of how you become a Poolee and Marine there motivator. I am a Marine
Do you think wrestling ever helped you out in boot camp? Like cutting weight in wrestling deals with mental strength. So like did it somewhat assist you in any way? This is dead ass, I wanna know.

ummm i went through benning and ill asure you there was plenty of yelling.
My buddy touched his face , kill hat made em scratch till he broke skin , mike company plt 3093
Couldn't the haircut be for stoping the spread of lice?
would make sense
That's what they told us. I'd ssume it's a little of both.
Jackshuty that or just to make everybody look good
Back in the day sure but in this modern era lice is not a big problem. However females don't have to shave their heads so...
Jacko Ludvich That shit pisses me off so much.
Everything you said was spot fucking on, brother. I went through a little less than 2 years ago. May Chesty bless us.
RIP CHESTY, WHEREVER YOU ARE
they yell at navy bootcamp alot....
link16991 they yell in all of them lol but marines yell the most
I'm 17 and interested in joining the military, but I'm fat. Will that stop me from being able to enlist. If I cut weight and I go to basic, is it possible to fail? What is BMI, etc.
Angel Noose depends what branch I had to lose 100 pounds in order to enlist in the marines
Angel Noose If you got a good recruiter he'll stick with you and help you out. bmi doesn't matter just body weight.
Angel Noose stop eating so much, simple as that.
Just eat right portion everything use a smaller plate. Eat fresh popcorn without butter or anything as a snack. RUN. If your joining the marine corps just RUN I'm not sure about other branches but during DEP for PT we run a lot so run before u enlist so u can keep up

Awesome video brother! Haha, good times on bct, never thought it was gonna end! Brings up memories talking about this stuff huh?! Haha
The flashbacks will last forever. That's why there's retired grandpas still walking around with their 8 point covers and boots on
Leaving for bootcamp this Saturday! Freakin motivated! Thanks for all your videos. They helped me out a ton. Much appreciated
That's awesome dude! You're almost in the gun club. Good luck!
3:27 damn that hair gave him the Cleopatra eyeliner look tho XD

that's what I would be worried about
do the amount of push ups you do per day reach into the thousands?
Definitely not. Unless you messed up really bad
Wulfz lair depends on how much of a shit bag you are
can you be on a good side or like thing you can do to out shine out of the rest
He's so fucking attractive 😍
before I get into it, imma have a guess... is it because you're going to be wearing a helmet in combat over your face ?
aww
Great video! I leave for PI in 6 days!
Well this video aged like fine wine lmao
sure did haha
lmao... Ooof.
Not gonna lie, from what I heard from my friend and you, USMC boot camp sounds very similar to how it was for USCG. Only difference is that ours is a month shorter.
CG yells just as much but we have to speak in radio style
Is this going to be another thing like when they air force said that they PT just as hard as the Marines?
Dustin Gibson nope, coast guard is just shorter
Holy crap you're good at CoD
The 1st phase recruit is the lowest life form known to man. I was U.S. Navy Hospital Corps at MCRD Parris Island and used to laugh and cringe simultaneously watching 1st and 2nd phase recruits get the word.
whats the recruit exchange depot? is it like a store where recruits can buy the items need for boot?
yes
I agree all the yelling is to get you used to working in stressful conditions...I'm Navy but can tell you I worked in Combat Info Center off the coast of Vietnam...very stressful place.
But my training in boot camp really helped me, I kept my head and did my job.
Leaving 3 weeks! Bless up
Thanks. i leave on Monday and the information was useful
Good luck bro!
What if you get a itch????
you sound like badger from breaking bad.
haha i knowww
3:31 no, it's a lice and dermal diseases prevention.
Ah. That explains.
Not really, they don't make females shave their heads.
It's actual all of that
But when I think, I usually touch my chin, like in a thinking pose. :(
What if you shave your head before you go to Boot Camp?
Then it's no big deal.
I'm here...again
video def helps
This isn't relevant but, what's that game?
Jayden Van Wanrooy Thanks
Literally as you explained why they make you not touch your face my face itched and I rubbed my face lol
i simply love how people, especially people my age say our generation is all about "me me me" when if you actually take the time to look it up, literally every single generation went through the same exact thing where everyone else said the "youngest generation" was the most self centered ever
Great Video
You sound like jimmy from GTA
I get that or badger from breaking bad
ClaytonFilpo def like badger
Even though the yelling in Army, Navy, and Air Force boot camp isn't like the Marine Corps, the Coast Guard comes pretty close to that.
Thanks for making a video about this I actually never knew about that, so now I know what to do and what not to do before I go to Boot Camp
That moment when you see your drill instructor in the video lol
Djforevericey ssgt Jackson ?
82 guys from many states WILL get germs and sick. It's normal boot life. As a Medic, I gave out bicillin shots and we could not sit down on that butt lump for a couple weeks. Great time and camaraderie! Everyone should do Boot Camp.
"It's not like the Marines" earned my sub.
Quick question, how can I lose weight for basic.
Quick answer: Healthy eating and exerise
ClaytonFilpo Haha. Ok sounds good.
My DI, Sgt Velasquez, is in the thumbnail 😂😂
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH....

Of course your gonna get throat punched if you call a SEARGANT a SIR... He is gonna start asking ya if he kooks like an officer and then he will provceed to throat punched you
My moms one of the best managers at new balance so i probably could tell her about you lol
I would like to learn how to survive boot camp!!!!
18000th sub :)
Week one we have to wear what we called the "BMT 11's", which were the new balance shoes if you didn't already bring running shoes and we were called "sneaker weekers." You could tell what week of training someone was in just by looking at them because something about their appearance changes every week.
your wrong about the marines bootcamp having more yelling..if you jion the army infantry then the yelling is the same
Army infantry isn't boot camp
what year did you go through boot camp?
I'm a poolee right now cause I'm still in high school, but I'm all signed up and ready to go on July 17 for boot camp I can't wait. Oorahh!!!!
