The keyboard popping up is a windows setting. It works with the steam deck too when installing windows. However, I too don’t understand the complaints about windows. I’ll take a few extra steps to set something up for the compatibility. Sometimes it takes more steps and complexity to get games running on the deck. Like the EA app.
For me, no not really. But I am familiar with it and like tinkering with it. It’s not perfect, but it’s really not anywhere near as bad as some made it out to be.
@@ancientflames i dont mind tinkering as long as i get to play the game smoothly afterwards, ive heard windows asking for updates in the middle of a game, is this true?
@@callmedrunever experienced that. Just make sure you do the updates needed after setting the device up and you’ll be good to go as far as my experience.
Loving my ally! Most fun I’ve had gaming in years! But the keyboard thing is yeah it works very well, and the touch screen is amazing. But the keyboard in some games don’t pop up and then I have to alt+tab out and pop the keyboard up a couple of times to get it working. Kinda annoying. Only experienced it in a couple of games though. And yeah windows is fine as long as u tinker with it. You don’t even have to do a full debloat. Just do the most necessary things and it runs great. You will encounter “windows sh*t” here and there like you would any other normal pc. That’s why I think it’s gotten such bad reviews by some. They think it’s plug and play. I can understand the ones with the sd card. But me personally I don’t really use it, but I have it in and nothing has happened. So I’m very, very happy with my device. Just ordered a bunch of accessories, can’t wait for more cool accessories to come. One thing I would love is simple precision rings, I really like to use them on my normal controllers. And these joysticks are very loose to play fps for sure. Would be awesome if you could tighten them up a bit. Anyways great video 👍🏻 Awesome with some positivity towards this device, with all the shit going on I don’t really understand. Sorry for the long post ✌🏻
I agree on the sticks. They are a bit too loose. Maybe since the device is so easy to take apart, some nice hal effect sticks from gulikit or someone would be nice replacements.
Thank you for your input probably grabbing this over the Lenovo go for Xmas. I have some patience am down to do some research to figure out problems I run into. I'm ok with researching windows hiccups im not ok with just a crap device.
@@jjayala Hehe no problem. And since I’ve made this post the ally has just gotten better with some crucial updates. Only thing missing now really is the sd card fix, but I think it’s a hardware issue, dunno what asus will do about it though. But again I don’t use sd card. I upgraded my ssd to 1tb instead. So I don’t think u will go wrong with it. The legion go has just come out. But I’m not interested in it. I’ll wait till I’ve had my ally 2 years and see what’s on the market at that point. ✌🏻
@@ancientflames yeah I hope they make some that don’t interfere with the triggers. I use caps and protection rings on the sticks now. That has helped ALOT! 👍🏻✌🏻
@@HawkNocturnal worried about the joy cons more than the vrr with the go. I'm a long time switch owner and know the struggle. I'd have a hard time tolerating that with the go. I have a series s so I'm used to the 512 g although it upsets me. I'm gonna want a warranty probably with the ally so I'll be hesitant to put that drive in although I have watched the process.
Power needs to be set from “Aggressive - to disabled” for each setting “Turbo, performance, silent “ Battery life drastically improves, might save you’re sd from frying too
Awesome review! Thanks
Thanks! I’ll have something more in depth next week 😃

Is windows as irritating as some reviewers say?
