the live action is supposed to be more like the book, being critical of moder millitaries throwing numbers at the problem not giving a shit about the body count, plus some being critical about other things too such as propaganda and the social structure, theres a few youtube videos about it

Also killing millions of bugs my reaction shooting millions I was like "holy shit I need to run faster". I'm sure the game might be still out for PC

This is the 4th sequel to "that goofy adaptation made in 1998". And while i understand the some of the actors from Starship Troopers 1 (Neil Patrick Harris who plays Carl in ST 1 for example or Micheal Ironside who plays Radcheck) are now rly big and probably wouldnt go back to a B-movie grade sci-fi franchise, id still rather have another one of those instead of direct to video animations. I mean the only ppl who've stuck around this long are Casper Van Dien (Rico) and Dina Myer (Dizzie), and the later was a dream. And following the pattern of the ST movies, we won't see Rico again until ST 7 (if the series survives that long).
If you watch the movie, you'd know it's not entirely by choice. Also, Rico is a rare type of.officer that chooses to lead from the front despite what his superior's say.
Actually in the Canonical Lore, Officers are always the first one in the fight, and the last ones to leave. They lead by example, which is why even Generals are on the deck in a combat zone. Everyone Fights, Nobody Quits.
The original Bradbury novel was so much different from the Movies. It had a moral imperative that speaks to us now. What fighting a war is about, what it means to the individual, and how to conduct oneself. Most importantly, everybody Drops, everybody Fights.!
Maybe about time to make a gun that can shoot really fast and one bullet kill those bugs? I mean. The armour doesn't work so why not invest more on the weapons?

I think the magazines are horizontally attached, in some of the footage anyway. I'd also assume they are using caseless ammunition too, otherwise they'd be covered in bandoleers and reloading constantly.

Some of this looks pretty slick, but you can aaaaaaallllways tell the guys that write this stuff were never in the military. At all. The chatter among the soldiers is reeeeally not realistic. Little things like Rico being saluted by Carl, who outranks him, rather than the reverse. Rico's voice sounds like what Solid Snake always sounded like to me: maybe a Japanese director's idea of how an American tough guy might talk. Not saying it's bad, because a lot of it looks pretty good for a direct to DvD movie in some ways. But it has some flaws, and it's not any more true to the book than the original live-action movie was, which was fun in its own right, really a classic, but definitely not a faithful retelling of the book's story.
So interesting how starship troopers influenced aliens which influenced this starship troopers as far as the dropship look. The movie influenced the capital.while and the bug look and the bug artillery. Halo influenced the armor. Like an awesome sci-fi mashup
