How to convert cordless drill to corded

- If you have a cordless drill with Ni-Cd battery pack, this video is for you. Because Ni-Cd batteries do not long last. Whereas, we can not buy Li-Ion battery to replace Ni-Cd battery for this particular drill. So, I removed the Ni-Cd battery from my drill and attached a cord to connect to the 12V DC socket. Now on, I can use my drill for long hours without power interruption.
It's tough to watch the video with that background music. I would have much rather had an explanation of what/why was happening and hear how much the drill motor sped up rather than have to listen to that repetitive music.
These aren't american videos. most of these tech videos now come from Russia and India. Thats youtube.
You can plug directly to 220v power? no need voltage converter?
It needs a 12V power supply.

I have a pretty much same black& decker old drill 12v with dead batteries...okay the power supply needs to be 12v to make it run,but what about the current;I have around my space room different types of AC-DC small converters(one with the biggest volume runs an output of 12v /2.1A ,would it work with it direct to 220v wall power supply?

Wouldn't it be better to modify a battery charger as it converts AC from the wall into D.C. At the sort of amperage that the drill motor would run off the battery?

well,,,, i think the idea in this case is to keep it self contained , sort of, you can use this without house electric, say when he needs a drill to access the lock on his meter because they turned him off for non payment????? lol

i will say ...use a power supply with the double amp of the battery and insert 2 or 3 10000~22000 mfd electrolitic cap 35v
Hello friend its very informative ... i did the same but i use the adapter giving output 12v and 600mA ... it didnt work ... so i am just asking how much Amp it needs to run ...

SKILFUL LIFE can I use 19v adapter for 12v cordless drill machine ?
If you use 19v adaptor with less than 1000mA, when you add load to the driller, the adaptor might be blown. Because, this adaptor can not handle more than 1000mA. on the other hand, if you use 19v with more than 2A adaptor, it might damage the driller. Always use a adaptor with correct configuration. You can normally get a 12V 5Amps transfomer from an old audio set and make your own power pack.

Hi, many thanks for the instructional video. I did connect an old laptop charger(20V and 3.25A)to my chargerless cordless drill 15.6V. It worked somewhat with no burning or overheating noticed yet but the trigger startup is erratic unless, the trigger is squeezed gradually. Please how do I overcome the jerky trigger startup? What simple component might be added to resolve this? Kind regards.
You have to find a replacement, this is the simple way I think. Otherwise, if you are skill enough to dismantle the trigger switch, fix it, and assemble it again. For that, you may need soildering iron/hot air gun, and some tools.

Can somebody please tell me what kind of adapter should I use for my BlackDecker 18V drill? I have one adapter 18v 2.5a, should that be enough? Thanks in advance and great video btw 👍👍

why did not you connect the wires to the drill load connector?
So you can revert back to a normal battery
What is the voltage and output of the cord you're connecting as well as which connector in said battery is going to be our positive/negative?
Voltage is 12V DC. The positive of driller connects with the cigarette lighter plug's middle pin and the negative of driller connects with the cigarette lighter plug's side pin.
SKILFUL LIFE I literally have this same battery haha! I took my cordless black and Decker skillsaw out of storage yesterday, charged the battery overnight and it literally cut for 30 seconds.. I was so mad! But hey, with the 12v of power, are there any drawbacks? Less power or speed? Thanks for the vid man, sorry for the long message, I subbed though :)
Hi Wheels Lifts ! if your saw works with 12V battery pack, it'll work with any 12V DC power source with same power and speed but, make sure you could drain enough amps from the power source to operate your saw with maximum power/speed.

I bought a cordless drill 15.6v with no charger and the battery pack had 11, 1.2v 1500mah batteries Ni-Cd. 3 of the 11 batteries had zero voltage, the rest ranged from 0.2 to 1.1v. I want to convert the cordless drill to corded. Please I have an old laptop adaptor with output rated as 20v and 3.25A, would this be enough to run the drill, or what would be the ideal range of adaptor to use? Kindest regards.
You better find a adapter/power supply with 15V - 18V and greater than 5A for a safe level of use. Please I got the cordless drill for pennies without a charger, I do not mind experimenting with the laptop adaptor I already have, what might be the dangers to the adaptor 20V 3.25A or the 15.6Vdrill by pairing them up? Or not bother and wait and see if I find a closer matched laptop adaptor? What electrical items might I be able to harvest a usable power supply for the drill? Great stuff and kind regards.
If you try with laptop adaptor, it may damage the adaptor. You can harvest a transformer from a old car battery chrger.

An adaptor with the same voltage 20V or over and more than 8 amps. When you give a full load for your drill, the motor will get burned.
I did this but unfortunately it was an 18 volt drill, It does work but slower than with the original batteries which are long dead. Also bypass the fuse in this rig or install a high amp one. On my rig I had to bypass it because my drill is part of a kit with two saws that use the same battery and when I first tried to use the saw it popped the fuse. I bypassed it with the spring for now and that popped as well. The circular saw draws many amps. I ended up[ using a small piece of metal which worked and I was able to use the saw.

Yeah, you need a 110/220VAC to 12VDC power adapter.
I tried this , connected the mains adaptor direct to terminals in drill drill runs to slow to use .

The video would be much better if you explain what you are doing, step by step.
1. Find an adapter that can output the same/similar voltage as your drill, with output of 2-5Amps.
2. Connect the wires to the battery connectors.
3. Turn it on.

You can buy 12v dc socket unit that plugs into 110v ac wall outlet.
Then a house to power charger...lol
Until your jumper pack dies then instead of waiting for 30min for your battery to charge you need to wait 6 hours for your jumper pack to charge
And when my cordless drill is 9.6V
Normally 9.6V drill can stand for 12V. Eventhough, you can make your own voltage regulator with 2N3055 transistor and set the preset for 9.6V with load.
No tried it was cut off
I think that the overload protector cuts off. So, try with the voltage ragulator. The regulator should handle the minimum of 5 Amp current.

Thumbs down, you are still using a battery pack that will give you about the same amount of use as the original battery pack.
i dunno, i paint cars, and those little booster boxes will start stone dead cars that want 4 to 800 cold cranking amps just to kick that solodoid on the starter, drills use just a few amps, i wanna connect my milwaukee m12 to a booster box and see how long it lasts, now i'm curious, and we're stuck with a pandemic, so what do i have to loose

You can purchase I.5 rechargeable batteries to make up for the required voltage of any dead ones and bind them together by opening up the one that is dead for a replacement. If you have the charger adaptor, your gadget is back again at work.🎉
