This is the light bulb moment I needed and confirmed I’m not delusional 😂. Been battling this in my workplace with hierarchy to the point I was starting to doubt myself. Frustratingly these subjects are always lumped together when we could achieve so much more by giving them their own rightful place. Definitely given me the confidence that I’m not imaging this or making it up 😅. Great format and so helpful!
@@Joanna_Parsons what makes a good internal communications strategy? How do you approach planning/writing one? Is it that important? Building confidence in writing good internal communications. Top tips for campaign planning. Measurement of communications.
I'm so glad you ended up making this one! 100% agree. In our framework, we use the following definitions: Employee Experience & Culture: What it's like to be someone who joins your cause. A lagging indicator of purpose, vision, mission, values. (This is where I'd include internal comms.) Employee Engagement: The effort your employees volunteer to your cause. A lagging indicator of Employee Experience & Culture. Achievement of Business Goals: A lagging indicator of Employee Engagement. This helped me wrap my head around the differences and relationships between all these amorphous terms. Would love to know your thoughts. Loving your content!!!
Thanks Joanna. I have just been 'served' my objectives for FY25, and as Senior Communications Manager with a role encompassing Internal Comms, Company Events and External Comms this has given me the confidence and reassurance to educate my commercial led managers to think about the bigger picture when it comes to setting out our comms strategy (and measurable objectives). Thank you.
I am SO glad our paths crossed! LOVE every minute of this video and appreciate the additional detail you provided around the definitions, differences, and relationship between internal comms and employee engagement.
Hi Joanna. I followed your LinkedIn post to get here - so you can chalk that up by way of attribution! A great little video - clearly structured and presented. Thank you. (My only quibble would be the background music - which keeps the viewer in the moment but is every so slightly annoying. 😀)
The zoom in/out editing was a bit aggressive in the first minute - Could you make it smoother, or not have them back to back/so close together? First impression clicking on to this video apart from that was great though, just thought I'd chip in with some hopefully helpful feedback.

Thanks so much Fiona, what other tricky topics do you want me to tackle? I'm an open book!

Hi Christian, thanks so much. I'm still trialling different styles and ideas to see what works so thanks for the feedback on the music!
