Also if you play Ballad of the Wind Fish on the Ocarina while you're with her, she says "Not very good... Er, what? I didn't say anything. You must be hearing things"
I kind of forgot about Marin over the years, but with her about to make a playable appearance on Hyrule Warriors she's on my mind again. I'm ashamed to admit that I forgot how much I love Marin. All her quirks and comments when she's following Link around are fantastic. It's amazing how much personality they managed to pack into her adorable little sprite. Knowing that she isn't actually real makes watching this video somewhat hard. At least in the end, her wish came true.
carrastealth Unfortunately, that’s not possible, given the official timeline. Link’s Awakening happens on the branch where OoT Link dies to Ganon, after ALttP and the Oracle games. Since Malon is in the past of Link’s Awakening, she can’t really be reincarnated from Marin. That said, Malon was absolutely intended as a reference to Marin, so her visions of being swept off her feet by a hero are definitely meant to evoke that connection.
Use the ocarina to play the ballad of the wind fish, and Marin gives an unsolicited opinion: "Not very good... Eh? What? Did I say something? No, you're hearing things..."
IF you come out of a dungon with 1 heart, she screams lol. I also loved Marin, hench why I make it a goal to not die, so she doesnt parish with the rest of the lsland.
I know...I just went straight to the Walrus when I got her. If I had done all this, it would've seemed like she had much more of a personality than she did.
thanks for posting this compilation. the moment that Link hangs out with Marin from the cinema to the Walrus is one of my favorite video game moments of all time.
Link gets Marin.. then she won't ever shut up! Then she goes to the Trendy Game shop and tries to win herself a new man. There's a reason he wanted to wake up from that dream...
candy: in one of the rooms there are three enemies: a skeleton guy, a bat, and a rabbit thing. you have to kill them in a particular order for the key chest to appear. the order can be found by reading one of the tablets/owls in the dungeon, or you can just try every order until you hit the right one.
+NuniaBiznis Then you missed the Color Dungeon. That was an awesome dungeon. You also missed a ton of other features, like the Photographer Mouse, and the no-death special ending. I recommend grabbing an emulator and ROM as soon as you can. The BGB emulator is my emulator of choice. It's fast, reliable, and easy to use.
@@SerathDarklands The Color Dungeon is anything but awesome. It's just some lame puzzles that don't require much thought, the boss is very boring, and the rewards are overpowered and make the game more of a cake-walk. Also the Photographer Mouse is pretty dumb for the most part; yeah the pictures are cool and done well, but being able to miss out on a picture permanently and having to (spoiler) steal an item and be labeled a thief by everyone to complete it is just bad design.
It was. At the end though, if you beat with no game overs (the 000 number by your profile) the "The End" screen will show Marin flying by, but she has wings like the Great Fairy.
My favorite part about Marin has always been the way the intro fanfare plays when you get her. If you have the arrows at that point, you can do a swordspin followed by shooting an arrow at a rock, and it sounds just like when you got the sword at the beginning of the game!
@LozX100 To screenwarp: "Go to the very edge of a screen that you can walk to another screen from. Move towards the edge of the screen and just before it begins to scroll press "Select". Press "Select" again to get rid of the map and you should now be on the new screen but in the place you were on the old one."
this was the first game i ever had. i was 8, and i had trouble getting to the first dungeon ( by then, my english was very bad so i couldnt understand anything) 5 years later, i have a sudden urge to play it. its one of the best Zelda games, in my opinion.
You can actually keep Marin by pressing start just as you move over to the walrus screen. It's the map glitch, and it makes it so that instead of you moving to the next screen, the map moves to you, effectively placing you behind the walrus.
@LozX100 To keep Marin: Complete the third dungeon, the Key Cavern. Go to the Animal Town and screenwarp past the sleeping walrus. Get the key in the desert area. Screenwarp back past the walrus. Go and get Marin.
Oh, and don't forget about the Color Dungeon! They play the original dungeon theme from Zelda 1 in there.. Or maybe modified for more modern times. I've looked for ages trying to get some sheet music or something for it, or maybe even some music.. But I didn't find much. Lol. I ended up finding out it was the original dungeon theme and have yet to get that music or sheet music. xDD
@NinjaMasterShinobi do you have the DX version or not? if you don't, learn to screen warp. Screen warping in a certain place (i forget where but it's easy to find on google) lets you keep her.
@brawlmaster12344 Whichever button it was to bring up the menu, I haven't played the game in some time. Yeah, you can do twisted stuff with it, but things grow glitchy pretty fast.
Another way to get Marin: go to that well, where is the first piece of heart, save in here, turn off and continue from the well(don't go anywhere)turn off again, and again continue from well. Marin should fall to that well.
@ the scene where MArin sings for the walrus. If you come back after this happens and you play Marin's song. The walrus will come out of the water just for giggles..
Oh my god ! Dont you know, any Marin fan would know this ! Everybody knows her favorite meme sentence: "Hey thief, stop !" She always screams at Link of Thief when she sees him stealing something and that made her popular among fans !
You remember the dungeon were you use a black ball to break some poles in it? I had to use that teleport glitch just to beat that, I was stuck on that dungeon for days thinking how to break the last pole thing. I couldn't beat that level years ago. It's been over twelve years, I'm smarter and wiser and I still couldn't beat it. I was force to use that glitch. thats eagle tower
ha ha...i didn't know she falls on you in the well, i knew about the chicken and shop one though. And you can also steal from the shop and everyone calls you theif, its pretty funny
@RWBn00b thats true, ruto only betrothed link because of the spiritual stone of water, it was said to be given to the man who would marry her and she didnt really have feelings for him, and cremia was just another side character, there wasnt a story that lead up to her falling in love with link
To see a slightly different mood of Marin, when she starts following you, keep hitting a chicken with your sword and eventually Marin will go from scolding you to praising you for it. Likewise when you go in a dungeon she won't follow you in, but wait outside for you like in this video, but if you take to long in the dungeon, she is a ghost of her former self, also if you get hit until your life starts to beep, and leave the dungeon with only half a heart remaining, Marin gets worried for you and then scolds you for not following her advice on staying safe earlier.
@PeterDivine AND it has the most tragic ending in video game history. The Island along with everyone on it vanish into nothingness without a trance, all of Link's new friends are erased like they cease to exist, and when Link wakes up... he finds himself stranded in the middle of the ocean all by himself left to die. THE END.
link lifting marin over his head is one of the defining moments in video game history
I actually tried doing it myself as Link (well, THIEF, actually). The claw grabbed nothing & the guy just stayed there.
Well that's how you pick up chicks right?
The same as for the lost kid in The adventure of Link.
Marin will forever be Link's dream girl.
@@labrynianrebel I see what you did there.
You forgot the best line:
"Ha Ha Ha! Do it! Do it! Do it mooooore!"
Done by attacking cucoos frequently.
divide two "fun with Marin"
That's how Link picks up chicks at the beach
its rare but if you hit the chicken over and over she'll end up saying "more more! kill the chicken!"
MrJjhighhat aka traits of a psychopath
In reality, you kill chicken, but in Hyrule and near the wind fish, Chickens Kill you
"Ha Ha Ha! Do it! Do it! DO IT MOOOOORE!!!"
"...did I say something?"
Link breaks pot*
Marin: YES YES! YOUR A BAD BOY LINK
ReshiramNintendo lol
Lol
DIG IT TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH
It's so funny when Link picks her up at the beginning, like he's picked up something from a treasure chest.
Also if you play Ballad of the Wind Fish on the Ocarina while you're with her, she says "Not very good... Er, what? I didn't say anything. You must be hearing things"
When she wants to play the trendy game, your choice of answers is "yes" or "yes" lol
Quality Bethesda game choices, there.

I'd say Malon is the reincarnated version of her. The one who for some reason has "visions" of a Knight/Hero sweeping her off her feet.
+carrastealth, Maybe the dream world is capable of connecting real people

Best Zelda girl, bar none.
If you leave the dungon when only half a heart left, she will scream AHHHHH. It was so funny the first time.
That was hilarious XD I never knew about the crane shop thing!!! XD
I heard a rumor that sometimes she says something different when you hit a Cucco?
If you hit one enough she will say, "Yes! Yes! More! Hit it harder!! ...... I didn't say anything...." Pretty weird huh?
@@chaz5256 She's urging *you*, not Link, to hit the Cucco, so the birds can punish you by flocking you and killing you

Hahahahaha! I didn't know she could play in the crane game. I love the interaction of this game a lot.
1:12- I unashamedly equipped the roc's feather and started literally jumping for joy when link got marin.
that music is embeded into my brain. First zelda game i ever played and it took me months nonstop i swear
As long as she exists in you, she'll never be gone.
"Infeliz y cada vez más triste. Como cuando sueñas, te enamoras, te despiertas y no existe. "
"No! No! Poor hen! Stop that!" I thought Cuccos were male since they crowed like roosters in Ocarina of Time.
Link gets Marin.. then she won't ever shut up! Then she goes to the Trendy Game shop and tries to win herself a new man.
There's a reason he wanted to wake up from that dream...
i love how oblivious link is to marin's affections.
Nice compilation dude. I didn't even realise she had all this extra dialogue.
Wow. Its now time to find a way to work "Great! Dig it! Dig it! Dig to the center of the earth!" into my daily lexicon.
